Mumbai to Goa by Road Trip | Complete Goa Travel Guide & Covid updates

  • Driving from Mumbai to Goa on scenic roads was wonderful and scary too! There were many check posts on the highway for Covid 19 tests and documentation, especially in Karnataka. From Mumbai, we passed through Navi Mumbai, Pune, Satara, Kolhapur and Belagavi before reaching Goa in the south. I drove for 650 Kilometers in one day in 13 hours, starting at 6 in the morning! The scary part was when Google Maps rerouted us for faster route through Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary. There was no one except me and 2 other cars for the entire one hour journey. Also, throughout my drive, I encountered uneven and bad road quality on quite a few stretches. Since, I have already driven in the states of Gujarat and Rajasthan I could easily tell road leading to Goa is no where close, such a shame. The only good patch is probably the Mumbai Pune Expressway followed by Pune Satara Road. Due to uneven roads, my overall mileage on this trip was mere 11Km/L whereas during my trip to Udaipur I achieved 12.5Km/L
    In the entire trip, we came across 3 check posts asking for ID and covid 19 related documentation.
    All Toll plaza between Mumbai to Goa
    We reached here at 07:47 AM - Khalapur Toll Plaza - INR. 203
    We reached here at 08:33 AM - Talegaon Toll Plaza - INR. 67
    We reached here at 09:45 AM - Khed-Shivapur Toll Plaza - INR. 100
    We reached here at 10:43 AM - Anewadi Toll Plaza - INR. 70
    We reached here at 11:32 AM - TASAWADE Toll Plaza - INR. 80
    We reached here at 12:31 AM - Kini Toll Plaza - INR. 80
    We reached here at 13:59 PM - Kognoli Toll Plaza - INR. 75
    We reached here at 14:37 PM - Hattargi Toll Plaza - INR. 30
    No issues with the car, performance was excellent. Power, thrill, overtaking - EcoSport makes you grin with so much under it's hood to tackle Indian highways.
    Pro Tip: Personally, I think if I were to drive to Goa again, I'd leave by 5:00 am instead of 6:00 am during winters. During summer, it shouldn't matter as the day is longer.

    hello. i am from Tanzania, East Africa and am planning to visit Mumbai after which going to Goa by road. Both me and my wife and elderly people (above 70) and would appreciate if you will kindly let us know the conditions and availability of Western type of toilet. Shall appreciate your response.

    • @SharmasTravelogues
      @SharmasTravelogues  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hello! Please note that June to mid September - it's rainy season in India which means the roads will develop potholes on some stretch. This will further affect the drive time and quality. Due to age, will recommend simple hand and leg exercise every 2 hours during the drive to avoid fatigue. Western type toilets are available in decent looking hotels and dhabas through out the highway - if not sure, just stop and ask at the reception. Mostly very friendly staff. Strategic points have cluster of hotels to take a break, get down and check all hotels and freshen up. Hope this helps.

    • @SharmasTravelogues
      @SharmasTravelogues  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The route was a little different, in fact after this trip I went once again taking other routes but at the end of the day … the point is: It will take 12+ hours to cover 600kms no matter what! That translates to you averaging max. 50km/hour. The roads are pathetic because you cannot cruise smoothly throughout, just a few stretches. But, just for the fun of driving to Goa people drive anyways. Best of luck, happy journey!

    Do we need negative RT pcr even after having 2 dose of vaccination to go to Goa via Karnataka

    • @SharmasTravelogues
      @SharmasTravelogues  2 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      You do not need RT-PCR report if booking is confirmed in Goa. When then stop your car, they'd ask - if you say Goa - they'll let you go. If you say Karnataka - then report is required. And, even if you dont have report - they have setup testing facility on road. Hope this helps. Happy journey!

    💯We are traveling from Gujarat to Goa tomorrow. Can you please tell at 13:50 where did Google Maps showed wrong and
    Loved your video📸 😍

    • @SharmasTravelogues
      @SharmasTravelogues  2 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Actually, when we came back and analyzed, Google Maps did not show wrong - it was a better route because we were travelling to South Goa and not North Goa. We could have been stuck in traffic jams if we would have entered north Goa first and tried to go through Goa to reach south. Watch my another video - Beaches of Goa to learn how roads from North Goa to South Goa is currently under construction and terrible traffic. Hence, Google Maps suggested alternate routes. We got scared because we literally drove through wild life sanctuary with no cars along with us, no petrol pumps, no network either. Remember to keep your tank full after Kolhapur. When travelling from Gujrat, you'll first pass Thane via Ghodbandar Road to Navi Mumbai leading to Lonavala ghats. Then, I think the route is same depending if you going to Baga/Panjim side or Colva/Agonda beaches. You can count on Google maps or simply ask some local on roads when (IF) the network is out, everyone was helpful in jungle too! (There were 2 schools in the jungle and 100s of kids walking home with peon, teachers etc. amazing experience) All will be okay! Happy journey man!

      It was through Bhimgad Wildlife Sanctuary. We went through it because Google Maps rerouted and suggested it, since there was traffic on the other route. In all, when we reached and calculated, it was a good suggestion. But, while driving, it felt wrong .. haha. This is why sharing here for others to not be surprised!

      If you are travelling to North Goa, Take right turn after Nipani (Landmark: Hotel Sathyavati at a big curve). You can reach Goa via Amboli ghat, Sawantwadi.
      Even if you are going to South Goa you can take this route but sometimes there is chance of heavy traffic as you should make your way through the contested roads.
      To reach South Goa, you can take right from Piranvadi after Belgaum. If you don't want to take this Sanctuary route then go straight to Londa via Khanapur and take right turn from Ramnagar
