General Lee was a man of his time who possessed great honor.
Revisionists history and the tearing down of statues is helping to destroy the fabric of American society.

Andy Higgins, when were most of those statues put up? I've only ever heard one side of that question.

Lee possessed "great honor"? Seriously? At the outbreak of the conflict he was one of 8 Virginians who held the rank of colonel in the U.S. Army. He was the ONLY one who turned his back on the United States. If Lee had honor what did the Virginians like George Thomas and Winfield Scott and thousands of other loyal southern men have? And where are the statues honoring their loyal service for the preservation of the union? Lee was a absolutely a traitor, and killed more U.S.Army soldiers than any enemy commander this nation has ever faced. He was a brutal slave owner who didn't recognize slave marriages or families, having inhumanely broken up all but one family among the dozens and dozens of families he enslaved. He was also known to have whipped the people he held in bondage. Read his disgusting reply to Lincoln's Emancipation Proclamation and tell me he was not a horrible human being. Educate yourself. Stop repeating the myths of the list cause.

Appreciate this talk being posted, thanks to all who provided it. In my modern view of history, I believe Gen Lee to have been a traitor - though I thoroughly understand that from HIS perspective at that time, he believed he was a patriot helping his state defend 'invaders.' But it's all in the past, and it was a wonderful talk. Gen Lee himself (before his death) despaired his CSA service and did all he could to become a good American/Union citizen, and for that I commend him.

You are contradicting your statement then! If Lee was a traitor, so was Washington. Think about it.

I also appreciate this video as an educational tool but I am so so baffled how a “traitor” is given such reverence. If someone was to do this today to his country ....would there be a monument to this person in a few years ? Confused ???
