The way this game stores bosses is very interesting, it kinda gives you an insight into how the game is built if you know the language it was coded in. Keep up the awesome work Zullie
So, is the ashen capital an entirely different area or does it replace the regular capital? Does this mean Elden beast is always there or only when the capital transforms?
I think I saw something alluding to it replacing but I could be misremembering. I don't remember which video either, only that the capital was tangentially related. So if anyone knows for sure, I would also like to know.
I think they're entirely different areas, with one on top of the other. If you use a hack to enable all sites of grace at all times, you'll see that Leyndell and ashen Leyndell have separate sites and that a few almost perfectly overlap, and that you can teleport between them at any time
Anyone remember dark souls one after going through 2 illusion walls and going down a long tree it brings you to the bottom most level of the world? It’s all water and super massive trees just like the elden ring arena.
I'm new to the souls community through Elden Ring, and I have to say what you do is absolutely amazing! I saw the other video referenced and agreed you'd be a source to find the truth...never thought it'd be within 72 hours! Also, "little practical use?" This teaches a lot to fans as well as possible game designers about the how things can be achieved. But it also serves (to me) as great dedication to lore. The fact that the arena could be anywhere but they still put it at the base of the erdtree seems very intentional, and awesome.
I don't think there was any lore reason to putting it there, likely just a technical one so there would never be any issues when loading the second half of the final boss, much like how Hoarah Loux is already preloaded for the godwyn fight. That way, simply loading the area and going through the loading screen would leave everything prepared to minimize issues.
I can hear this episode playing out like a children's educational Nat Geo show. (in David Attenborough voice) "It seems like we need to take a closer look to see what's down there. Of course we run into our friend Hoarah Loux, waiting for his turn in the boss arena, but he's not why we are down here. See that distant pattern of lights? Let's say hello shall we. Why it's the Elden Beast! Parts of him must not have been visible from up above!."
This actually explains some of the speedrunning vids in the early days as I wondered how the Elden Beast was dying after loading the location back in. I assume that because of some loading time issue or the like the boss must be phasing through the ground or falling somehow and dying on impact. Don't fully understand what's happening but it makes more sense than before.
@@davidhong1934 to me it always looks like a representation of life in general. The tail like a tree, wings, fins, a long weird tube head that for some reason reminds me of an amoeba and the five fingered hand wich represents intelligent life.
If there's one thing I know about speedrunning, there *is* a practical use for this. We just don't know it yet. If we find a way to survive the fall, and if we find a way to get over/through the barrier, you hypothetically could skip straight to the elden beast.
Id love to see how deep the different underground areas are. Kinda like how you had a size comparison for giant bosses; how deep are the 3 fingers, how deep is Godwy, how deep is the Lake of Rot; abd whats the lowest point on the map. A suggestion if you are taking them 😬 Amazing work as always, Zullie
Do it! I started a play through with a Castlevania theme, using only weapons which approximate ones found in the Castlevania series. My primary weapon is the Urumi whip and I also rely on holy water pots, throwing knives and the discus of light spell. It has really refreshed the game for me. Can't just rely on habits or OP stuff. Find a cool or unusual build and stick with it. It's a ton of fun.
Those out of bounds tricks using that weapon art are awesome, I remember being blown away the first time I saw the OOB route to Placidusax. Maybe do a video on some of the other skips using that weapon art? (And I forget if you've covered the weird weapon art swaps like airwalking, probably have but if not those are pretty interesting.)
Just wanted to say thanks for all the great content Zullie. These videos are so intriguing, and I can't even imagine the work that must go into making even 1 of them. You rock, thanks again!
Could we at some point get a nice, up-close look at the Elden Beast? Like, taking off whatever effects it may or may not have, looking at its base model, seeing it perfectly still so we can take in the details of it without having to dodge attacks or chase it down?
I found something strange up in the skies in Caelid. By climbling a scarlet tree and looking up at a certail angle/place you can see a stream of oil/blood (?) pouring down from the sky. Anyone else noticed this ?
Only after watching the original video and then this did the memory of reaching The Old One slam back into my head. That endless-feeling plummeting fall down to Somewhere Else.
Nothing extra, no fluff, just straight content. That's why I drop likes for every video I see. This level of professionalism is just too rare these days.
Im either slow as fuck or just forgetful, but I'm just now realizing the Elden Beast boss room has a load of trees in the skybox just like the Lake of Ash in DS1 and the Hunters Dream in Bloodborne. I wonder if that comes from any particular inspiration or if they just really like using Massive Trees in a lot of stuff. I wonder if it's supposed to be multiple Erdtrees from multiple realities or if they're scattered around the world of other worlds, or if the Elden Beasts natural habitat is just like that. A little home for it out in the cosmos.
Discoveries like these make me respect From Software studio a lot. The world building is impeccable, with every little detail. I just hope the other studios can learn something of there masterpieces.
That's really cool, kinda makes it seem like when it's hand comes up that it could even be pushing the platform down even though you don't see that area until it roars
Speaking of weird shapes underneath important areas, there is a really strange shape under farum azula that I usually only see by falling to my death. It almost looks like a circular mirror with lines radiating from it. I'm really not sure what its supposed to be, and I can't find any info about it anywhere online. Was wondering if that could possibly be cleared up?
Something I’ve though about is how the elden beast arena reminds me of an area from the movie “nausicaa of the valley of the wind” and the area UNDER the toxic jungle where the trees have purified the water, and while I also kinda believe that the other tree trunks we see in this arena may be allusions to Other elden beasts on other planets???? It’s still an interesting visual similarity
no so like in previous souls games, its a pretty common feature of theirs to store the second phase of the boss somewhere deep down to save process or storage space? and whenever you fight godfrey you are actually damaging hoarah loux AS well down there, they share the same health bar, so when it triggers the model below gets loaded. also if anyone is curious i also found 3 malenias deep down the haligtree after no clipping
@@yashgatade8201 I wonder why it's three, after all it's just two phases. Or does the game internally count the beginning as another phase where Malenia doesn't yet do her combo? Anyway her fight is a bit weird because in the first phase she survives ripostes with 0 health (or very close to zero) and can only be sent to the second phase by hitting her normally.

Although, I guess it depends on what is out of bounds.
If you use a hack to enable all sites of grace at all times, you'll see that Leyndell and ashen Leyndell have separate sites and that a few almost perfectly overlap, and that you can teleport between them at any time
@@sandrin0 Ah, the "almost overlapping" is probably what got me confused, ty
It is a new arena that replace the other. When you kill malekith you trigger a flag that changes all the world
Surely it has to replace it right? Since if you rode there on horse you wouldn't end up back at the old capital
I love that hoarah loud and the elden beast are just casually chilling under the erdtree, waiting for the player to eventually show up
Anyone remember dark souls one after going through 2 illusion walls and going down a long tree it brings you to the bottom most level of the world? It’s all water and super massive trees just like the elden ring arena.
Nice catch. I never noticed how similar this place is to Ash Lake.
ash lake with gold trees ✨
Lol, I literally went "Wait if Loux is here, is that Elden Beast?" before it was, indeed, Elden Beast
I love how they keep everything in the game where you'd expect to find it, even if it is never witnessed by the player
There's something under the Erdtree, oh turns out its a Barn Owl.
I honestly cracked up at the sight of the Elden Beast
""we can find Hoarah Loux waiting here..."
0:43 -Aaaaaaaany minute now...
I never noticed the Tree-like Roots on it's tail, that's so cool!
I've heard that the tail is the tree, and the body is the root system. Whatever the light on the head is supposed to be is anyone's guess.
@@davidhong1934 to me it always looks like a representation of life in general. The tail like a tree, wings, fins, a long weird tube head that for some reason reminds me of an amoeba and the five fingered hand wich represents intelligent life.
Love you for your work, been lookin for something to watch and you came when I needed you the most
Th Elden beasts arena is so cool, it’s probably one of if not my favourite from any souls game.
If there's one thing I know about speedrunning, there *is* a practical use for this. We just don't know it yet. If we find a way to survive the fall, and if we find a way to get over/through the barrier, you hypothetically could skip straight to the elden beast.
spoiler: it is already the case, with speedruns in 4-5 min
Seeing speed runs I had a feeling I knew what was going to be down there, really cool that the entire arena is actually down there too!
Id love to see how deep the different underground areas are. Kinda like how you had a size comparison for giant bosses; how deep are the 3 fingers, how deep is Godwy, how deep is the Lake of Rot; abd whats the lowest point on the map.
A suggestion if you are taking them 😬
Amazing work as always, Zullie
And if you look way, way down below us, you may be able to spot a wild Elden Beast, grazing in its natural habitat.
That's awesome that the elden beast is actually down there, i need to get back into elden ring
Elden Beast: wha- but- you're not supposed to be here?!
Zullie: :)
Thank you for making these videos. Outside of them being genuinely interesting.. Your content has helped me through tough times.
Your videos are amazing, for those who love the franchise it is a full plate of novelty and exploration.
Under the tree?!
Damn, im disappointed. Ive wait for hundreds of thousands collosal titans =/
Amazing work as always!
Anyone else noticed this ?
the fight literally takes place in the deepest roots of the Erdtree which i found Amazing
Zullie your content is always so Interesting! Thank you for these! Always excited to see a new Zullie vid!
This is really cool! I like this video Zullie
Only after watching the original video and then this did the memory of reaching The Old One slam back into my head.
That endless-feeling plummeting fall down to Somewhere Else.
I've always been really curious where the roundtable hold (that we can teleport to) is located in the actual world.
iirc it's off Limgrave's west coast, far below the ocean.
Ah, that's why when speedrunner do a megazip from Godfrey they also killed the Elden Beast
Solid work getting to the bottom of the mystery; you really got to the root. I'll see myself out now
So thankful you don't talk over the video like every other soulsborne-video maker. You're the best one in fact
The new end screen looks sick!
Just wanna say your videos are so good and brighten up my day briefly :)
Thank you so much for doing this~! You're awesome!
Love the new outro look!
my fat beer can duck is down there
Discoveries like these make me respect From Software studio a lot. The world building is impeccable, with every little detail. I just hope the other studios can learn something of there masterpieces.
"There''s something under the Erdtree."
"Hey VSacuse! Michael here! What ARE, Runes?"
I love secrets like this in these games. Reminds me of the dark souls 1 days
That's really cool, kinda makes it seem like when it's hand comes up that it could even be pushing the platform down even though you don't see that area until it roars
Hoarah Loux and Elden Beast be waiting like participants in the Royal Rumble.
The music in your videos relax me
Music : “✨💖🎉🥳🌟”
I love this community, there is something new everyday
Speaking of weird shapes underneath important areas, there is a really strange shape under farum azula that I usually only see by falling to my death. It almost looks like a circular mirror with lines radiating from it. I'm really not sure what its supposed to be, and I can't find any info about it anywhere online. Was wondering if that could possibly be cleared up?
Placidusax' arena is circular, but I don't know whether it's already loaded in with the rest of the area.
placidusax’s arena
@@DoubleOhSevenRS placis arena is atop the giant tornado, i think zullie explored this as well
probably just a bug with the skybox
When I saw the title I was like why yes a whole zone with a rememberance boss fight in fact.
this may just be the first video I noticed it but y'all got the dress working nicely !! looks great Zullie :D
Request to see under the helmet of common mobs- Banished knights, Cleanrot knights, black knife assassins, crucible knights etc.
Most of them have no face models to show.
I didn’t realize it had a root-like tail! Precious Tuber God
Question: Because Hoarah Loux is down there, can you kill him and would it count as skipping the boss fight
No, the model doesn’t have collision detection until the game activates phase 2 of the boss fight and pulls the model
no so like in previous souls games, its a pretty common feature of theirs to store the second phase of the boss somewhere deep down to save process or storage space? and whenever you fight godfrey you are actually damaging hoarah loux AS well down there, they share the same health bar, so when it triggers the model below gets loaded. also if anyone is curious i also found 3 malenias deep down the haligtree after no clipping
@@yashgatade8201 what a terrifying moment that must have been
Not intentionally but if you zip really really far you can unload them and beat the game
You always use my favorite songs from Zelda games for your videos. Great taste in music!
That's so freaking cool! All of the game's assets are just somewhere underground or at the edge of the game's like coordinates.
It’s like the hollow earth theory a massive open space filled with strange crazy stuff and giant monsters.
i always assumed that we were fighting in the depths of the erdtree in my imagination and i’m glad to see i was correct
