Misdiagnosed for almost 3 years .. staph infection of the spine and 2 rods put in my back.. pt .. pain management..lots of mris and finally was told i have AS ..my neck is locked and im already hunched over like a 90 year old ..trying to get into a rheumatologist soon.. i really hope there is help at this point ..drs all told me to go on disability.. the pain is unbearable..im so damn tired ..and im not old enough to retire .. how are you supposed to pay all your bills and live off disability?....

I hear you. Such a demoralising account of suffering. I hope you find your way…. I too have AS, undiagnosed for decades after onset of symptoms. If you live in Australia I found knowledgeable and compassionate rheumatologist who recognised AS in women ( some older Drs may still not believe this) , and our Gov PBS greatly subsidises biologics ( we pay a healthy level of taxes for the greater good of all) so, even on minimal income, it would be affordable - I just am overjoyed with massive improvement in pains and symptoms , energy, function and mobility, mood and overall quality of life. If your State or Country doesn’t help you could you migrate? I couldn’t bear the thought of not being able to afford these medications; must be so burdensome , and unfair. Everyone deserves opportunities to live their best life, no matter their circumstances or geography. Wishing you the very best….
