I think the best part of hiring Vrabel and McDaniels is you will get the most out of current players and will finally get a real answer about the roster, the excuses won’t be the coaching it will 100% be the roster isn’t good enough
Agree. What Maye needs is a scheme advantage against opposing defenses. I highly doubt our O-line will falter as bad as last year if Josh schemes well with Maye under center.
Learning the plays will be east. The WCO has far more complicated terminology. WCO example Spider 2 Y Bannana EP example Hoss Y Juke. The play is mirrored seem and hitch routes with the Y running a juke route. The play call can be further simplified by using one word, Juke Juke Juke. I initially was against Josh McDaniels becoming the OC because the terminology and philosophy were different. I learned there are many similarities, foremost being left foot forward. So all the work Maye did to improve his footwork won't be wasted.
Drake Maye is lightning in a bottle with a tendency towards boneheaded decisions a few times a game. Having stability at the coaching positions is exactly what a player like that needs to help reign in the bad decisions and maximize the good. 100% a good hiring season so far when it comes to Maye's development -- provided this all stays in place moving into Maye's year 3.
Josh McDaniels is going to take Drake Maye and create an absolute monster at QB. Arm, legs, and brains - especially brains! Get your popcorn ready folks.
Take out the anomaly games when they ran the score, got turnovers like crazy on practice squad teams and the game Mac played like prime Matt Ryan (Browns). His best of his career. Take out Jets, Jags, Browns, Titans at home and act like they didn't happen. Act as it was a 13 game season. They scored 19.2 ppg. Good for 26th best in the league that year. @@erikpuka2627 lol. So what you're saying is take away all the scoring and competence and they wouldn't have done as well. Wow, what a take. GTFOH you dunce!
@@erikpuka2627so if they ranked 26th with the cherry picking, did you remove all of the anomaly games from all of the other teams and re-determine PPG? Can’t just cherry pick stats to the n-th degree. You will play bad teams every year and you need to win those games so those stats are someone indicative although I do agree about removing defensive points
I think an underrated plus in the Vrabel & McDaniels hires is that these guys are well-known, established coaches & top tier free agents, I believe, will want to come and play for them. Especially with McDaniels as OC & Drake Maye as franchise QB, better offensive free agents will want to play for and with them
Initially I wanted them to move on from the old guard, but Vrabel/McDaniels is a sigh of relief. I feel they've both evolved and improved. I don't expect immediate success, but I do expect a solid foundation for success to come. LFG Pats Nation
Moving on to move on is just as likely to fail as clinging to the past to cling to the past. If they looked at the coaching landscape and Vrabel/McDaniels were the best options, then yee haw. After such failure this past season, having competence will help turn this franchise around enough to have free agents take us seriously again.
The people hating on this hire don’t know anything about ball. One even though Josh failed as an HC. He is still one of the best OC’s in the league. He also proved that he can fail as an HC, and come back to be a champion level OC. When he got fired from Denver, and came back. The most important piece to it that makes it the best hire. He will be here for at least Drake’s entire rookie contract, or the rest of his career. No one is giving him another shot at OC. Even if Drake is a top 3 qb, league MVP, and win a superbowl next season. They’re still not giving him another shot at HC. Having that kind of consistency at OC is huge, and people don’t understand just how huge it is. We could have gotten a more exciting new name, but if they do good. We would lose them in a year, because they’d be offered a HC job.
My hope is he gets Maye to a great foundation and he kinda becomes OC prove like Allen is now. If he outgrows Josh then we can get a tight pants guy in 3-4 years.
@ericallen8263 that's same thing I said those old plays are done we're so behind feel like this just same bs playbook hope I'm wrong but yea idn I give it c+

Got vrabes got josh, Terrell Williams as our defensive coordinator and then Tony as our RB coach who coached breece hall alls we need is a good WRs coach and offensive line coach and then we can really build this offense out around Drake Maye and build the defense too 🔥💪

I think vrabel and McDaniels know what they wanna do they got tons of money and draft capital to make it happen and also the capability with trades too
Greg, can you elaborate on Bobby Slovak in Houston. He was the big name a couple years back but haven’t heard his name mentioned at all this offseason for any opening.
2024 = Mayo, AVP and Covington, 2025=Vrabel, McDaniels and DC(+Vrabel). Ya, 2025 is going to be a much better year for our NEP. Now we need to get Wolf to do a good job improving the roster. The road back to relevance is here. LFG
Really didn't want him back, but I trust vrabel's instincts. I'm sure the Kraft's let him take the reigns on this one to a degree, after that rudderless Mayo saga and I bet he had a list of solid candidates who would've loved to draw up a game plan for Drake Maye. If he thinks McDaniels was the best choice, so be it.
I would say as someone from the DC area that they did invest for both lines along with having scary terry so it's not really even remotely the same other than they both spent top 3 picks on a QB.
Josh McDaniels is a better coach then kingbury so if they can have a good offseason they can offensively compete with where Washington is. Obviously you need to build up the O-Line, but you also need weapon(s) like McClaurin
Everybody talking like McDaniels has coached a maye talent before 😂. Lol like he's mostly had a pocket passer and only had cam for 1 year and still won 7 games lol. With maye this is the holy grail for him.
So a little history lesson about NFL offenses! The grandfather of BOTH the West Coast Offense and the Erhardt/Weis offense is the old Air Raid Don Coryell offense. Ok,,Zannis...as far as OLD style offensive playbook,,do you understand that Mcdaniels has EVERY play from every type of offense in his playbook? Every week, mcdaniels picks the best plays out of that immense playbook to exploit each teams weakness...And then add all of the pre snap changes and adjustments....His offense if anything is the most progressive offense out there....
And Maye shows a talent for picking up offensive schemes. If Drake is as good a processor and learner as people talked about during the draft and last season, McDaniels will be a great fit. McDaniels tends to be a poor fit for lesser quarterbacks, as he asks a lot of guys after working with a master like Brady. With Maye, it will be greatness or bust.
Josh is at the prime of his career, hungry to prove his unique skills (again), silence the doubters and work closely with a head coach he's already in sync with. 👌🏈
98.5 Sportshub has a host (?name) yelling that the McDaniel's hire might have been forced on Vrabel by Kraft since 1) McDaniels is familiar; 2) he will be paid by the Raiders (ie Pats save money); and 3) McDaniels is not a "flight risk" for another head coach position (having failed twice). The host says that if Vrabel was hired by Chicago, he doubts that he would ha e wanted McDaniels.
Yeah, Felger is a douche. There is no way Vrabel would have allowed that at this point. This team is all his. The Coordinators are his choices, with Kraft's blessing after the decision is made.

As much crap as the Krafts have gotten over the last year(deservedly so) they really listened to what the fanbase was saying and took action. Cant say that about a lot of other organizations.
how do you know its a good hire? he doesn't have brady to rely on this time around i guess we will wait and see but i don't understand why alex van pelt wasn't given another chance most people agree he did a decent job with drake maye this offence was bad regardless who the OC was this OL was that plain bad. of coarse there were some second guessing on play calling but every OC has had people second guess play calls from time to time. alex van pelt at least has a foundation to work with and he knows the personal already.
I don't wanna hear no negative bullshit after we've been watching mac Jones and the horrific offensive production for years. Yeah McDaniels can suck but also can be great. He does get sucked into run run pass all game but sometimes he doesn't which is more than we've had for years

Maye 1 and 9... Jacoby and milton.. 3 and 4. Not sure starting maye "from the start" would of made any difference......
Look at the weapons Josh mcdaniels did with granted he had Brady .. but hogan , amendola , dorsett , Edelman ???
These two guys 😂😂😂
I dk. Felger and Mazz think that this is a sign that Krafts are cheating out.
Kyle Juszczyk will be a Patriot in 2025
Can anyone else hear the heavy breathing in the background?

They Went With Experience And Steadiness Over Upside And Youth. Knowing You Will Lose The Young OC After1-2 Years. This Was The Smart Move
aaaand here come the screen passes again
Gibson should be retained

BK loves this choice just because it’s a CHEAP move.
Draft LT Wr RT LG
And edge, corner unless they draft one of each and sign one in free agency we have alot of money and draft capital to get it done
You cannot go home again! Pats refuse to move on and evolve.
Take out the anomaly games when 2021 Patriots they ran the score, got turnovers like crazy on practice squad teams and the game Mac played like prime Matt Ryan (Browns). His best of his career.

They scored 19.2 ppg. Good for 26th best in the league that year.

I am not even mentioming the indane turnover luck they and Mac Jones had
Then you would have to take out all other teams anomaly games where they played best so it’s apples to apples. It is a flawed take. But I like the effort.
Anybody who has an issue with this hire is a meatball
I bet if you go back a few years you will here Bedard shitting all over McDaniels..I think this is a bad hire.
NE is that guy that broke up with his girlfriend tried one date with another girl and ran back to his X 😂
Vrabel didn’t pick MLF. Nice spin though
back to the same boring plays screens and 5 yard passes.. BB 2.0
Oh you mean when they were actually winning? You're a genius.
@ ohh yeah they were winning the last few years without Brady here while the had bb and Josh as coaches tell me again what was their record on BB last year without Josh as his OC? Genius!
Commercials suck. Nice to be pushing gambling.

how do you know its a good hire? he doesn't have brady to rely on this time around i guess we will wait and see but i don't understand why alex van pelt wasn't given another chance most people agree he did a decent job with drake maye this offence was bad regardless who the OC was this OL was that plain bad. of coarse there were some second guessing on play calling but every OC has had people second guess play calls from time to time. alex van pelt at least has a foundation to work with and he knows the personal already.
I don't wanna hear no negative bullshit after we've been watching mac Jones and the horrific offensive production for years. Yeah McDaniels can suck but also can be great. He does get sucked into run run pass all game but sometimes he doesn't which is more than we've had for years
