I'm a gigging musician that just bought his first PA and board, a presonus 16.4.2!! I love watching your videos to help familiarize myself with the board!
Good response. The knob was actually set to maximum output. We set it that way ahead of time knowing the amplifier trim settings were going to be set low. It appears the trim settings were set even lower.
Nice one, have used some of your tips and works well for our church. We are transitioning to digital and we have a real question Behringer X32 or Presonus 32.4.2 (now discounted)?
The choice of console will be up to whomever will be using it. The X32 is a good board, but there may be a large learning curve with it. I have mixed on the X32 many times for other bands... it's a good board, but you will need to pay attention to what layer you are on. The Presonus is good and is a lot easier to use. There's no moving faders/layers with the Presonus board. The X32 has moving faders. For ease of use, and especially if others will be mixing on the console, the Presonus may better. Thank you for your comment.
I've bought a PreSonus 16.4.2 off the back of seeing it in action on these videos despite never actually hearing one until it arrived. It is an amazing board; can be had used for not a huge amount of money and really sounds great. My regular driver remains to be an Allen & Heath GL2200 with a couple of outboard racks, though that's only because the venue I regularly mix at has one installed...it works well and sounds amazing, so I'm applying the "if it ain't broke" mindset. Based on my experience with the 16.4.2 so far, I really don't think you will be disappointed. As you're mixing in a Church, give Attaway Audio a look on here too; he's Mixing on an SSL (their church clearly has a good budget) he too has some great tips and tricks.
Sorry to ask this but this presonus mixer it a passive mixer right? So you have to use active sub and speaker. Or you can hook it up to an amp as well and use a passive speakers? Thanks
You are correct. The mixer is passive (non-powered). Active speakers can be used with it, or passive speakers, as long as there is an amplifier for the passive speakers. In this video, the mixer is driving passive speakers.
It depends on the level of compression from the bass pedal. I will always route a compressor to the bass channel, but may (or may not) use the compressor depending on how much compression the pedal is using.

That is awesome!
These videos are great, just started with my pa and it’s great to see live problem solving
Good job, especially with the limited headroom! Had a similar situation on my last gig, so I feel the your pain!
keep up the awesome work man! love it
Are you sure that the Main Output "Level" knob on the back of the 16.4.2 wasn't accidentally turned down?
Good response. The knob was actually set to maximum output. We set it that way ahead of time knowing the amplifier trim settings were going to be set low. It appears the trim settings were set even lower.

Do you add compression on the bass guitar even if the bass player uses a compressor pedal?
It depends on the level of compression from the bass pedal. I will always route a compressor to the bass channel, but may (or may not) use the compressor depending on how much compression the pedal is using.
This live studio ....mixer ...I'm available but can't stand the hot weather.... in the building can be used
