I don't want to "like" this video, I am only liking it because of the love we all have for Rocky and for the hiking and camping adventures we have been on with you and him over the past years around Spirit Forest and beyond. Thank you for sharing this update with us. I had been thinking about him recently and wondering how he is doing in his retirement. Rocky is truly a very special dog ... he will never be forgotten after it is time for him to cross over that beautiful rainbow bridge to wait for you and the rest of his family, where he will be healthy and happy, with his strong body again.
My heart goes out for Rocky. Old age is hard on dogs but they are a family member and they will always be apart of our lives. Go Rock Go! Love Ya Buddy! ❤️
Like number 412 my friend. So sad to loose a pet, especially when they are more like family. I lost my pixie about 2 years ago and I still haven't got a new dog. I don't want to go through that pain of loosing another dog . I still miss her 😭. You and the girls are in my prayers. I'm sorry Tammy. l use a product that has helped significantly with my older dogs, it's called Vet Classics & it has SOD & Boswellia in the tablets, which are easy to chew. All my dogs take them daily and it has made a huge difference. The last dog we adopted in July of 2021 could hardly walk as his owner beat him. He's been on these tablets for a year now and he's playful as a puppy, even runs down the driveway, he's 11 years old & 75 pounds.
A pet becomes more family than your real family they depend on you all their lives, when there gone a little piece of your heart goes with them and they are remembered forever. The unconditional love a animal provides is not replaceable. 😔

I had a dog named Rocky he was 13 I carried him outside when he couldn't walk he laid in my bed I new he was passing I as sk the Lord don't let him I'm suffer hollared for my son and he was in my arms her raised his head howled 1time and fell over in my arms that's been 4 yrs ago.
Bless you, Rocky. He may just want to lay around a lot and enjoy his retirement. I have faith in you to know when you need to decide. I know it’s hard I’ve done it several times. Dogs don’t live long enough. 😢

Can the vet give Rocky some shots to the hips? Food, give him raw organ meat to eat, put some fish oil tablespoon amount in it, also sprinkle some turmeric/curcumin. Do that for a few weeks to see if there is an improvement. Try a heating pad on his hips. Feed him what a Wolf would eat.

Those in the know now say a dogs annual life timeline is equal to 10 years to one year human timeline .. that makes him 100 years old and being the best friend and family member anyone can ask for .. ... My niece with the floppy ears, Daisy, was a Weimaramer whom developed arthritis in her hips. Vet put her on Maloxican(sp?), & had us by Glucosamine Chondroitin(sp?) tablets for her to take everyday per vet. She went out & laid in the sun. My heart goes out to you & the big guy. Loved how you bathed him in that huge sink when we took ours to Doggy Daze to get groomed then over to get chicken nuggets across the street at McDonalds. I miss her.
Awww. So hard to see him suffering like that. You would think he would not keep trying to walk. I do understand. I am old and in a LOT of pain also. I will be glad when it is over. Yuck. Give Rocky hugs for me.

I lost my boy Mowser when he was 12. Mowser was a 130 lb German Shepard and he had a similar issue with his back legs from Arthritis until he finally got stuck in the root ball of a fallen tree and couldn't get up or out. You have given him the bestest life possible, rejoice in him while he is still here. Over my 7 decades of life i have shared it with several canines and every single one of them had and has a piece of my heart as Rocky has yours. Peace and Love.
My 85 lb rescue Poppy is like my soulmate. She’s 10 with arthritic hips. Daily walks down to half a mile followed by long country car rides she loves. . She goes from one open window to the other in the backseat. She likes the car radio and loves to hear me sing along. Sometimes she gets tired and lays down on the back seat for a rest then she’s back up to the window gazing. I love her so. Her name is Poppy. I love Rocky so much too. God knew we needed our pups for love, laughter and protection. Still and yet, time and nature takes care of every living thing so I just stay grateful and let nature have her way. God bless Rocky and you and your precious family. We’ll all be ok.🙏❤️🙏
It’s so sad to see Rocky’s health failing. My dog has also developed some health problems and is on a variety of meds. She still seems happy, like Rocky does, but I know the inevitable is coming, and it’s heart breaking. Hugs and prayers for Rocky and your other family members. 🐾❤️

My 8.5 year old yellow lab has severe arthritis in both legs/ hips/ and spine and it breaks my heart. Currently she's maintained on glucosamine, cdb, and carprofen. My heart goes out to you♡
I turned 76 today. I have had many animal family members during much of my life. and none of their passings have been easy. I mentioned my age because I don't get around as good as I used to, but I'm still almost always happy . You are absolutely right in saying Rocky is still very happy. You are wiser than you know in your relationship with Rocky. When that hard time comes You and Rocky will both know, understand and accept this part of a physical life adventure. When that time comes, remember how much Rocky loves you and you will feel his gratitude for your help in giving him a well deserved release. I don't know for sure what happens after any animal - human or otherwise - makes their passing but I'm 100% certain our journeys don't end here.
I'm so sorry. It's really not fair, that we outlive our beloved pets, that their time with us is so very short. They're part of our family for years, we love them fiercely, and one day they're gone. Enjoy every moment.
You will know when. Had to do the same for a lab I had. Arthritis, but then also a blood cancer. She eventually didn't want to eat, had trouble walking, but what do it for me was the extreme discomfort she was in all the time. Her eyes didn't smile anymore and she obviously couldn't get comfortable. It was very hard to say goodbye but it was time.
It’s always so hard to say goodbye to your beloved pups I had my dogs die at 12 and die at 18. I cry and I am with them every moment when They die and I still miss them all
I am 72 now and not in great health. Still, I am looking for another pup that will probably outlive me. I’m sure, I know, the pup will be with me when I die. It will be my turn to wait for my final dog at the rainbow bridge with the other pups I have had in the past. I love them all more than people

Long as his tail wags and he can walk he is good ...been through this with three Rottweiler s on my fourth now ...I have àllways started looking for a Rotty puppy about 9 years in on the. Current dog it helps when the older dog goes on...I will have my own pack when I get to heaven....It also purk's up the older dog to have young friend ànd keeps the older dog more active...It's worked well for me..it's a bitter sweet time...
I feel for you,, I lost my Coco last year,, she was 14 yrs old.. still miss her so much. As long as he is happy don't do anything,, I am crying sweetheart,, so sorry! We all love him too.. try not to think about and just enjoy him all you can.. I did get another dog,, but not right away.. After nearly 15 years and up until and even after she died, I always tell friends that my dog Sammie took care of me more than I took care of her. Still hurts.
Rocky looks so happy at Spirit Forest and will always be a part of that property. It’s only right that he gets to see it coming together into a beautiful home for his family.
I’m so happy to see Rocky again. But it made me want to cry to see him hurting. I have a chicken (Apple) that has detergent bone loss in her left leg, and like Rocky, she limps around but very happy. So for that reason we don’t want to put her down. But anyway, thank you so much to sharing these moments with Rocky. He looks so happy to be in his new home. 🫂 to you and Rocky.

You will know when it is time. I sincerely hope with all my heart that you have a personal locator beacon that you take with you when you go hiking alone. I have watched you for a couple years and care about you and the girls. PLease get one if you do not have one and be safe!!!!
Rocky is still living the best life that he can. He does look happy and he still loves exploring. Arthritis sucks. I have it very bad yet I still try to keep going and exploring like Rocky is. I wonder if you can wrap his knee like I put a knee brace on my knee. I wonder if that will take the edge off. Just a suggestion. Please keep us informed on how he is doing. Sending hugs and prayers.
o i know so sad to see them go down its like part of the family had my dog for like 18 years her hips went out on her i found her in woods she could not get up so sad just makes me cry just thinking about her so just make him comfortable and he is and always will be apart of spirit forest
Please, if you haven't already, talk with your veterinarian about Librela (that's the name used in Europe). My mother's old dog has the same as your dog and the librela injections really helps. He becomes a lot more mobile and it looks like he isn't in pain anymore.
My brother in Colorado refused to make a decision. His dog ended up blind and wearing diapers. It's teeth were so bad he had to blend a special food in a blender along with tons of medicine just so the dog could eat. That dog lived for many years like that but I'm not sure I'd call it living.
Vetoryl (trilostane) might fix him right up... also carprofen [like doggie tylenol] i give that to my dog and he is fine.. the vetoryl keeps his thirst down.. my dog also had a limp that was bad.. and a month of Gabapentin brought the swelling in his nervous system down and allowed him to heal up .. talk to your vet. < J
I don't envy you Tammy in your position with Rocky..We love them like they are our children...You'll know when he's suffering and its time for him to go to doggy heaven...It was the most difficult decision with my Harley she made it to 14. She a Rhodesian Ridge back who thought she was a person suffered similar issues with her hind quarters...Then one day she went into total renal failure.I held her in my lap at the vet's until she was gone.Cried like a baby..a grown man crying writing this..I've yet to replace her. I love other peoples dogs but just haven't got another dog....You will know when Tammy...

He really has aged the last year or so. But he still gets around okay so I wouldn't put him down right now either. My old lab(avatar) made it to 13 and he slowed down his final year from hip dysplasia. But with meds he got around fine. Eventually he got a tumor near his heart and started to bleed internally. So I had no choice at that point but to put him down. I thought I would take a year off from pet ownership but 3 months later I was raising a yellow lab pup. I missed having a dog walking with me early in the morning on the golf course before the golfers were out. This one is a good one too but I miss my old black lab.
You could see it was getting hard on him. If you ever get another dog there's a great book called keeping your dog healthy the natural way by pat lazarus. A team of holistic vets wrote it. Lowers risk of health problems from dried dead toxic pet foods. Rockweillers only get to about ten. You'll miss him

For arthritis,gave my dog glucosamine. Vet said it was safe.she was able to walk down steps and relieve herself.she lasted a couple of years longer

Oh Tammy, we are going through the same thing with our GS right now. She's the same age as Rocky. It breaks our hearts too. ☹️
I’m so happy to see Rocky again. But it made me want to cry to see him hurting. I have a chicken (Apple) that has detergent bone loss in her left leg, and like Rocky, she limps around but very happy. So for that reason we don’t want to put her down. But anyway, thank you so much to sharing these moments with Rocky. He looks so happy to be in his new home. 🫂 to you and Rocky.
Thankyou for this bittersweet video, having followed you for all your seasons I am a Rocky fan . It is easy to see that he is really happy at Spiritforest and still as active as he can be. I can really sympathize with him , I have spinal arthritis and am 79 so we have a lot in common, love you all 💕🦴🦴🦴💕🙏🎩

Rocky is still living the best life that he can. He does look happy and he still loves exploring. Arthritis sucks. I have it very bad yet I still try to keep going and exploring like Rocky is. I wonder if you can wrap his knee like I put a knee brace on my knee. I wonder if that will take the edge off. Just a suggestion. Please keep us informed on how he is doing. Sending hugs and prayers.

o i know so sad to see them go down its like part of the family had my dog for like 18 years her hips went out on her i found her in woods she could not get up so sad just makes me cry just thinking about her so just make him comfortable and he is and always will be apart of spirit forest

Please, if you haven't already, talk with your veterinarian about Librela (that's the name used in Europe). My mother's old dog has the same as your dog and the librela injections really helps. He becomes a lot more mobile and it looks like he isn't in pain anymore.

A friend of mine had a dog very similar to Rocky. He had the same problem and the meds did the same thing. So she started him on a daily aspirin.
My brother in Colorado refused to make a decision. His dog ended up blind and wearing diapers. It's teeth were so bad he had to blend a special food in a blender along with tons of medicine just so the dog could eat.
That dog lived for many years like that but I'm not sure I'd call it living.

Unfortunately, like us we want to live but our bodies say differently. Watched him age , my heart is heavy and I'm sure you'll do the rite thing.
Vetoryl (trilostane) might fix him right up... also carprofen [like doggie tylenol] i give that to my dog and he is fine.. the vetoryl keeps his thirst down.. my dog also had a limp that was bad.. and a month of Gabapentin brought the swelling in his nervous system down and allowed him to heal up .. talk to your vet. < J

I don't envy you Tammy in your position with Rocky..We love them like they are our children...You'll know when he's suffering and its time for him to go to doggy heaven...It was the most difficult decision with my Harley she made it to 14. She a Rhodesian Ridge back who thought she was a person suffered similar issues with her hind quarters...Then one day she went into total renal failure.I held her in my lap at the vet's until she was gone.Cried like a baby..a grown man crying writing this..I've yet to replace her. I love other peoples dogs but just haven't got another dog....You will know when Tammy...

He really has aged the last year or so. But he still gets around okay so I wouldn't put him down right now either. My old lab(avatar) made it to 13 and he slowed down his final year from hip dysplasia. But with meds he got around fine. Eventually he got a tumor near his heart and started to bleed internally. So I had no choice at that point but to put him down. I thought I would take a year off from pet ownership but 3 months later I was raising a yellow lab pup. I missed having a dog walking with me early in the morning on the golf course before the golfers were out. This one is a good one too but I miss my old black lab.

You could see it was getting hard on him. If you ever get another dog there's a great book called keeping your dog healthy the natural way by pat lazarus. A team of holistic vets wrote it. Lowers risk of health problems from dried dead toxic pet foods.
