  • The Bridge Fire has exploded to over 46,000 acres tonight, taking with it the beloved Mountain High Ski Area, opened 100 years ago! Heralded as "The closest ski area to Los Angeles", a portion of the trails and lifts of the Mountain High Ski resort was tragically destroyed by the fire last night. Here is dramatic, time-lapse video from the Upper Chisolm Live Cam as the West Peak area was overrun just before sunset. Thanks to the heroic firefighting crews and staff of the resort who frantically worked to bring the snowmaking guns online around the main base lodge in an all-out effort to protect it from destruction. Daylight will tell us if they were able to save the structures at the base of the mountain by using the snowmaking as water cannons.

It will take years for the trails to look the same, but thus far the equipment looks to be in really good shape upon inspection. 😊

The PCT trail heads right through there too, so sad

Long night of prayers that they were able to keep all of the buildings wet and protected. The base lodge had every available snow gun going all night to keep the heat and embers away, with great success. The upper mountaintrails got hit hard, the top lift houses need some attention, and they're going to need to test the braided lift cable to make sure it didn't get too hot. Could have been A LOT worse, It's a miracle! Looking forward to talking a very special first run up there this year!
