      I was surprised at how good it cleaned up the screens. You can actually see the colour change when I rinse them off.

    I own the Compact M, i have a couple of questions on your Compact M if you have time to answer. 1. How many cleans a day is your unit doing on average? Mine is reporting over 600 a day at the moment and one day it reported over 1700. Wondering if it’s a software issue? 2. Do you get a leak from the area where the cables come out of the filter body on the left? Mine leaks half a cup of water a day, seems like the cloth on the underside of the lid gets wet and it finds it’s way along the cables.? Many thanks.

    Hello and may I please ask a couple of questions, I'm looking after my old mans pond while he's in hospital. Where do you but the Zhongle Air Stones from as one isn't working and how often do you change the Hel-x13 Biomedium (40L)?

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      The Air stone can be bought from Oase but it is expensive. If you speak with Andy at Fiveacre Pond Supplies - Chesterfield www.fiveacrekoi.co.uk/ he also has them at a fraction of the cost. Regarding the Hel-x13 I've never swapped it as it should really last for ever. It will turn a green coloured but that is the Bacteria growing and working well.

  • @LeTwistedOne
    @LeTwistedOne 3 ปีที่แล้ว +3

    I'm confused I thought the whole point of the drum was that you didn't have to worry about cleaning I was thinking of one of these in the future but that changing the screens really puts me orf especially for the price

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  3 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Cheers for watching. I didn't make it clear but you do not have to swap any screens. Some people do not even clean their screens but it depends on the water and throughput. Sometimes they can get a little scaled up, so people use a form of cleaning agent like in the end part of the video. Wear & Tear will have an effect on any filter unit. Trust me when I say this but if I added up the time I actually get my hands wet with this unit it would be less in 12 months than I ever did each week with a Multy Bay or Eazy pod. There's nothing worse than cleaning brushes and they flick fish poop into your eyes. The Video was more about HOW I clean my screens (Annually). I know other people with different units clean the screens more often.

      I've had the same unit for about 7 years now I've never cleaned the screens. I have replaced all 6 of the screens now when they split. It was 3 or 4 years ago when they started to go. So I just bought a set and replaced the last one a month ago. That's all I've done in 7 years. I think that's pretty good. One of the reasons I got it was because it had 6 separate screens, all the others have just one so if it gets damaged you have to replace the whole thing. And the dealer I bought it from were using one without a built in moving bed and they hadn't even had the lid off in 4 years.

      @@AKoiEnthusiast I’ve just got an Oase same as yours that’s EXACTLY what I was told the maintenance is minimal
      Plus it’s one moulded piece of heavy duty plastic
      Not welded together so no seams can split due to damage from sunlight
      Also you can alter the screens to different gauges
      I believe Siemens manufacturer the electronics , made in Germany it’s gonna be well made
      I’m amazed as to why these filters are not sewing up the market

      Thanks for the question. The Specs say it is less than 70db and it only runs for a max of 20 seconds. To be fair it isn't load enough to annoy neighbors or bother you if you are sat in the garden. I struggle to hear mine when I am sat in the garden.

    Great video - really useful tips. i have the same drum filter however my running level does not reach near the top as yours, it gets to about half, just enough for the water to pass through, any idea how i increase the water level to the top?

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  2 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Cheers for watching. The only way you can raise the water level is to lower your filter unit. It needs to be at the top level with the pump turned off. Then when the pump is running it will sit just above the minimum level.

    Another good video 👍👍just a quick question the air stones do they just pull out ? or is it a twist ? Or do you have to undo the air pipes i have the same drum filter and never gave it a thought to change the air stones 🤔🤔🤔 and i would be interested to know where you got the sieve cleaner from

      Cheers for watching. I noticed last year that one side was not moving as much as the other side, so I swapped them and cleaned them for this year. They do just literally pull out. It is a moulded plastic clip and they are just held in place. Easy to pull out. I take them to work and blow them out with an airline then power wash them for next year.

      I've had it up and running about 5 years or more now and apart from cleaning the mesh's annually I've never really had to get my hands wet let alone dirty. Best Filter I have ever had. What pump do you use? It is already cone with the oase pump?

    • @AKoiEnthusiast
      @AKoiEnthusiast  ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I use a PondXpert Variflow 30000 Pond Pump. The reason I use so a large pump is
      1. The water runs through 6 Metres of Pipe including a UV and an ASHP so due to coefficient of Friction I lose about 40% of the Flow rate. A 20,000lph pump would be fine is you have a short return with nothing connected
      2. A PondXpert Variflow 30000 Pond Pump running at 50% will move more water than a 20,000lph pump at 100% but only use 90Watts rather than 150watts. This gives me sufficient water to maximise the throughput efficiency of the Filter at minimum running costs

    Hi Kev. Looking at buying one of these filters for my pond
    At the moment I’ve only got a small pond 2800 L with a 5000 pump on it
    I see on your data that the filter is a minimum of 7000 Going to buy a bigger pump and run it on seven will this be okay ?
    I want to double the size of the pond next year but just want to get the new filter fitted first
    Thanks Martin
