While I personally veer a bit more into superhero material, a lot of my non-superhero books I’ve read line up with a lot of your picks in this. You should also read “Paper Girls” and “Saga” by Brian K. Vaughan too if you don’t have them already in your unread piles. Honestly go for the deluxe hardcovers for both Image published series.

If you like Brian K. Vaughn the obvious recommendation is Saga. Since you like Fables you might dig Crossover by Donny Cates. It’s only on issue two, but it’s fantastic so far. Also be on the lookout for The Plot Holes by Sean Gordon Murphy as it’s poised to be a similar experience. He’s also done a fabulous job establishing his own corner of the Batman world called the Murphyverse with a few different books (White Knight and Curse of the White Knight with a Harley Quinn book penned by his wife Colleen Katana).
Y is not just one of my favorite comics of all time, I think it's one of the greatest things ever written. That first page, and first chapter is absolutely chilling and just sucks you in before going on to tell one of the most interesting, thoughtful and epic (yet personal) stories put to page. I really hope it never gets any kind of adaptation because it's so perfect the way it is that no other medium could do it justice. Anyways, I would also recommend absolutely anything by Brian K. Vaughan, particularly The Pride of Baghdad, Paper Girls and the wildly imaginative Saga (like an R rated mash up between Star Wars and Lord of the Rings, but also so much more). If you have any interest in politics, I would also add Ex Machina to your reading list. You just really can't go wrong with Vaughan. Ok, end of rant. Great video and I'd like to see more! (Especially if they include any of these recommendations) ;P

100% agree about color pages in manga- but I always tell myself that they would cost twice as much of they were all color 😊. ALSO, I bet you would LOVE A Silent Voice. It's only 8 volumes and one of the best stories, manga or otherwise, I've ever read.
Thanks for the comic book recomendations. Ive got a recomendation check out The umbrella academy. It's about 7 adopted brothers and sisters each with a different power and one of them (who can travel thru time) goes a little too far into the future and lands after the apocalypse happens and gets stuck there. Years go by and he figures out how to go back in time and succeeds but his father has recently passed away and the apocalypse happens in like 3 days. So now it's up to him and his siblings to find out what caused the apocalypse and how to stop it from happening. There's also a show about it on Netflix
Duuuuude...I also 100% agree with your assessment of Scott Pilgrim. It uses the comics format so well, to adapt it to any other format causes it to lose something. But SAME about Black Sheep! Metric is a great underrated band! P.S. I have a few of the SP color hardcover but haven't reread the series in color yet. Seconds by O'Malley is also very, very good.

Just as long as it doesn't cause you a lot more work and effort to edit it and everything. I've found that even if I do fall asleep before a ASMR artist video ends, that it is never intrusive and never wakes me up again, so go as long as YOU want
I really think you should check out the movie for Akira. Personally it really amplified my enjoyment of the manga. Ofc it’s up to you but I HIGHLY recommend! AND Scott pilgrim?! Bro I was not expecting that to show up on here! This is one of my childhood favorite my whole middle school experience was this series! Big respects!
I've been reading the original Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles comics from the early 80s by Kevin Eastman and Peter Laird. it all started from those comics that were in black and white. then came the cartoon and the 1990 live action movie. but yeah, i've been reading that and enjoyed every issue. even the new TMNT The Last Ronin which was in the works back in the late 80s but they never got round to doing it till now. anyway, apart from the TMNT, i mainly read Aliens and Predator comics from Dark Horse which i read a lot of during the lockdowns
My Two primary Favorite Superheros from my childhood are Superman and He-man. Those have Always been my constant Go to comics for Superheros. They always Shall be as well Too !!!

I'd recommend V for Vendetta by Alan Moore and maybe Watchmen also by Alan Moore. Both are on the darker side and are quite wordy for graphic novels but they are classics that take on the subject of morality quite well and do it differently.
If you like Scott Pilgrim, then you’ll probably love Snotgirl 💚 It’s more of a drama than a comedy but written similarly since it’s another one by Bryan.

IIRC, they finally released a version of Akira, that correctly reads from right to left and is no longer mirrored. I really have to get the "corrected" edition. I'd also ague that the Akira movie is so different compared to the manga, that I'd consider it it's own thing that can't change my perception of the manga in any way :D
The only one I haven't read at least a few volumes of is Orange. Oh, I also meant to mention that Scott Pilgrim reminds me of Watchmen in how difficult it is to translate it to any other format...
X-Men: The Dark Phoenix Saga and Joe Kelly's Deadpool are dear to me. I'd also recommend Daytripper, Alan Moore's Swamp Thing, and Mark Russell's take on The Flintstones and Snagglepuss.
Nijigahara Holograph by Inio Asano blew my mind. I had to read it again immediately. It opened the world of manga to me in a way it has never been opened before. I honestly love everything I've read by Asano since. There are so many more...I could go on and on. Are you into horror at all? junji Ito. The Japanese do horror like no one else. Shuzo Oshimi is another highly recommended mangaka (ha ha, I even know the terminology. Nerd alert!)- Happiness and Flowers of Evil were stunning works of art and fiction.

The tv show is great, but you GOTTA read the story first! Some classics that you should be exposed at least a little bit to: Sandman by Gaiman, Hellboy by Mignola, Criminal by Brubaker, My Friend Dahmer by Backderf, March by John Lewis (R.I.P.) et al, Rachel Rising by Terry Moore, Giant Days by Allison (not quite classic but well on its way), Azzarello's Wonder Woman. Jeff Lemire, Matt Kindt, Craig Thompson, Jason (Lost Cat)...arrrgh! There are so many! I also just realized I have listed nothing but male creators, so here are some of my fav female creators: Raina Telgemeier, Hope Larson, Faith Erin Hicks, Alex deCampi, Julia Wertz, Lucy Knisley, Lynda Barry, Kate Beaton....SIGH. On and on and on...
i’ve read Sandman! I own the omnibus. I honestly should’ve mentioned it but the book is nearly 5 lbs and I was too lazy to lug it into this video! 😂 Saga was also one of the 3 comic books I didn’t mention near the end! an absolutely incredible storyline and the art work is to DIE for! i’ll have to check out your other recommendations!

They are loved, they are hated, within two years they will all be dead. Today, in present-day London, the cycle has begun again and through the eyes of a teenager named Laura we discover all the darkest secrets of these supernatural pop idols. The story by Kieron Gillen is so well written and carefully thought through and the art by Jaimie McKelvie is simply beautiful.
