If you would have told me the Pioneers would win this 5-1 after getting completely outplayed for 40+ minutes, I wouldn't have believed it in a million years. But they did, and what a 3rd period it was for them!
I sat right next to the Pio's bench. DU stayed the course, rolling four lines all night, while Minnesota State tried to get away with rolling two.... combine that with the fact that the bigger/stronger Minnesota State's strategy seemed to be to try and outwork/bully the smaller/more skilled DU, and what you got was an exhausted team playing a fresh team in the 3rd period. I think the strategy might have changed had Minnesota State gone up 2-0 at any point, but they didn't. Carle knew exactly what he was doing the whole game. One of the more brilliantly-coach hockey games I've seen.
Remember "Out shot" doesn't mean "out played"! That's a basketball problem. Denver only gave up one goal and that was on a penalty kill. Magnus Chrona played lights out in net!
Watch 3rd goal at 14:40 (6.26 game clock) Denver clearly played that puck with a high stick at mid ice, should have been called back. That’s not a goal.
playing the puck with a high stick only matters if its a shot on net, if you don't make contact with another player and it's not a shot, theres no penalty

it’s insane how Minnesota State dominated until 15 minutes left in the third and it just all fell apart
every hockey coach knows 3rd period is most important period
Let’s go Denver!
Sticks in the air!
It's hard for a goalie sometimes when they don't see many shots
Denver was also a very dangerous team
@@bgl2972 they seemed well balanced, no weaknesses.
WOOO
Avs won the cup to YES

Still would’ve been 4-1

What a waste of a video to see the end lol
