Its always amazing how Tokyo, the biggest City on our Planet doesn't seem to be over crowded or chaotic. It is bustling, modern, traditional, exciting, clean and very safe. Its a civilized Mega Metropolis full of Life and Possibilities. Its one of those Cities which are legendary and rightfully an adored tourist Destination. Its a Window of a great and wonderful Nation to the World. I love everything that came out of Japan. One day i will visit this Wonderland and enjoy every second of it. Greetings from Switzerland
I used to live in Tokyo. I highly highly suggest you to go to Kichijoji area, about 30 minutes from Shinjuku by JR line. Amazing neighborhood. Tons of cool restaurants, cafes and bars. Great vibes. Another area you MUST see is Shimokitazawa.
Yes me too I lived there for a bit and have had holidays several times since most recently last Christmas. I must agree with you about Kichijouji I last went there in 2013 and it really is a lovely place it is hard to explain as it somewhat differs from the rest of the city.
8:1715:04It happened to me too, when I told people (non-Japanese) that I was going to Japan, some people told me things like "Japanese people are so cold, unfriendly and mean", some even said I would probably hate it after spending couple of days in Japan. Once I got there, what I experienced was totally the opposite of those horror stories those people have told me. I absolutely loved it and all the people I interacted with were all very nice and friendly.
Most of us don’t speak English and are ashamed of ourselves. That tends to make us becoming shy, and in turn may seem that we are cold. Those who visit Japan tend to think that they may struggle getting around because they don’t understand Japanese, but the truth is the complete opposite.
I think Japanese people are not cold, mean or something, but they can't even speak English that's why they confused when they were asked by foreigner and it seems unfriendly I guess but now many japanese, I mean the young learn english hard so it's getting netter and better
This is the same reason why I love Japan. It's a country where even the toilets have more buttons than your TV remote, and the convenience stores are basically your one-stop-shop for all your midnight noodle cravings. I visited it earlier this year for our TV show. You must definitely see their cherry blossoms!
I clicked on your video because I’m going to Japan in the fall & 2 minutes in and I subscribed. Idk, something about you seems so genuine. Can’t wait to watch more from you
This is probably probably the most authentic travel Vlog I have ever seen. Thank you so much for keeping it real and not scripted! I can’t wait to catch up on all of your Vlogs.
When you arrive at Tokyo Station, we recommend exiting from the Marunouchi exit. The view of Tokyo Station, which was built 100 years ago, and the skyscrapers surrounding it is amazing. There is also a free museum of the University of Tokyo at a commercial facility called KITTE in front of the station. You can also see the Imperial Palace in front of Tokyo Station.

This is a thing I never could understand why people always either rusing or get frustrated when they get out out of the airport and figure out next step for local transportation. You are on VACATION, relax and take your time to look around and start step by step what you need to do before get in Tokyo. You don't need to stress yourself out to get things you needed. You will get it all done so relax and enjoy your vacation. How I did it, I find a group of tourist and follow them to do all the steps and it would be fun sometime to figured something and share with the group.
Japan's unique blend of tradition and modernity is fascinating. Your excitement is palpable, and the vibrant scenes of Tokyo you've captured are incredible. Great video showcasing Japan!
I agree, when I hear "unfriendly", I think about the extroverts not understanding that an introvert, especially in an society, takes time to open up. You all cool.
Just got back from 2 weeks solo in Japan doing the 3 big cities, and am loving your videos. They really take me back to that amazing city and you keep dipping into the little nooks I braved. It's funny how you start out confused and bewildered but you gain your confidence and start to learn it all. The big thing you didn't need to worry about was catching onwards trains you booked. They run every 3-5 minutes and mostly don't need reservations. Your ticket works just fine as you have JR Pass.
Interesting that they have a trouser press in that room. You typically only see those in 4 star hotels in the US. I think it's because that hotel caters to mostly business people. I need to get back to Japan soon, it's been many years. I have relatives there so should be fun.
I'm Japanese and I too love the country of Japan! I left Japan when I was 6 years old because of my dad's job transfer and lived in Germany and the States for about 10 years, but I missed Japan so much that I left my family and returned to Tokyo alone when I was 16
@@restamatic8967 Thank you. Nothing was too difficult for me regarding my return to Japan. I did not leave them because of a fight with my family, so my parents arranged an apartment for me to live in after I returned to Japan. They also helped me financially until I graduated from college
I love seeing Japan through your eyes as a first timer! It reminds me of my first trip there ☺️ Everything was so fascinating then. By now it feels like home 🥰

Oh my gosh you’re in Japan!? ようこそ日本へ🎉welcome to Japan! I’m a bit surprised to know you’re here in Japan cuz I started watching your video in Indonesia since I was there for business trip haha I personally recommend you to visit other prefectures too rather than staying in Tokyo for 15days. But anyway hope you enjoy and have a great time in Japan!🤗
If you want to see sumo or kabuki, go to Ryogoku Kokugikan or Kabukiza. cityscape and scenery, go to Tokyo Skytree or Asakusa. otaku culture, go to Akihabara.
4:40 - That kid in the background was hilarious, hahaha. But let me tell you my very first experience in Japan... Stress. Because it was overwhelming, but NOT in a bad way at all, but a massive culture shock compared to my hometown in Australia. The public transport was very intimidating at first, and there were people all over the busier stations, but after a couple of days, it was super easy and SO efficient. Loved it! I love Japan, and you can bet I'll be going back there when I can, even with the changes to the JR Rail pass, Suica, etc. It feels... Heartwarming... to be there, and I can't explain why. I guess everyone has a place where they feel at peace, and even among the hustle and bustle of Tokyo, I still felt that peace.
@@shpeen8835 Don't worry, I understand how you feel. It's a feeling that is hard to put into words, but I know you feel that way too, so I don't even need to try to explain. Just feel, mate. Feel.
Great video and new subscriber here! I’ve been to Tokyo 5 times and once alone. It is a fascinating place but very confusing at the same time. Watching your video brought back many unforgettable memories of Japan!
I love how insightful and down to earth you get sharing the real deal of budget traveling. It's more relatable and really helps anticipating us in what to expect in trips like this. Keep up the awesome channel!
Also when you say you just wanna go into every shop and explore everything. That's what made me anxious about Tokyo, knowing I'd wanna experience everything but also knowing it's impossible because there's just so much. You could be at a golden gai bar having an unforgettable night and somebody will be also having that in a bar below you. So many major things happening everywhere all at once all the time.
Hi! from Japan! I started learning English with this video! I want explore world like you someday!! I will be able to speak English You are my motivation!!! Thank you for your grate video:)
You should have downloaded an app for all train navigation, it would tell you play-by-play. We were there about a month ago with my daughter and that is what she did. We just followed her, and it was great. we spent 3 days in Tokyo via Shinkansen (JR pass) and 4 days in Kyoto and went to Nara, Osaka back to Tokyo for 3 more days and did Mount Fuji, it was an amazing experience!
Actually, $80-$90 a night for your hotel room isn't that bad, especially with how much other places have increased their prices. I've seen rooms in North America to be in the $150-$200 range for a standard room, which is absolutely nuts.
Thank you for coming to Japan. I'm suprised that you enjoyed vending machines, book off, pachinko and just walking around to watch shinjuku shop streets.
Tip!: when your ear feels like it has water in it or full after flying, move your jaw up and down repeatedly until it pops. The Eustachian tubes are NOTORIOUSLY BAD for acting up while changing altitudes.
Although i'm japaneese, i'm sometimes confused when i use public transportation especially in Shinjuku station. So, it is even harder for foreign tourists
Hi Zane Travel! I'm a Tokyoite. I'm glad you had a great time in Tokyo! The subway system can be complicated, but I'm sure you figured it out eventually. I was impressed by how much you knew about Japan. Your video was very informative and entertaining. You are also very charming, and I enjoyed watching your videos. I hope you come back to Japan soon.
Fantastic video! It shows your excitement exploring Shinjuku area. I have been to those areas more than once but I have never seen anyone records those neighborhood/ally ways you did. Thanks for making it available for anyone to see.
Hope you are enjoying Tokyo. Google maps is very helpful since in addition to the train line and the stop, it will tell you which Metro platform to board on, which train car is best, and which exit to take.
And I agree, but also have a paper map of Tokyo just in the case of not having an internet connection, and also (this is personal opinion), I recommend using a portable wifi instead of the SIM cards card because SIM cards are very limited in terms of internet connection, contrary to the wifi that has a better internet connection. Another point is that those who come to Japan with a budget or want just a place to sleep and keep your luggage, I vividly recommend going to hostels, they are affordable and I always went to a hostel in Asakusa, where even some hotels an ryokans are also very affordable, Asakusa is a great neighborhood and I recommend it!
That’s super cheap for your hotel in Shinjuku! On vacation, I’ve stayed in Ikebukuro, you can easily get there on the JR Yamanote Line from Shinjuku Station!!!!
Rising skyscrapers, flashing neon signs, contemporary architecture, and bustling streets filled with the newest technology set the scene in one of the world’s most modern cities
Next time fly into Hanada Airport easier to get to Shinjuku. Love the business hotels like APA and Stay. Use luggage drop off at the airport to deliver your luggage to your hotel. The yamanote line is the key line tos get around Tokyo. Sumimasen (excusses or pardon me) and arigato ( thank you).

I went to Japan in Oct. 2023. I thought Japan would be overrated, but it is way better than I expected. Tokyo alone is the best major city I been to.
I have heard a lot in the past... but "Japan overrated" was never on that list. 😀

Japan is overrated to fellow Japanese unfortunately. This is largely due to cheap Yen price compared to USD

It's the only country that paints pop culture on the airport as a point of pride, I'll tell you that.
I love how authentic and unpolished this video is. I visited Japan last year. It is beyond incredible. Nice work on the video Zane

@daenackdranils5624 If you find a city unfun and boring chances are it's you who's the unfun and boring one, not the 30+ million people living there
Just flew back to 🇯🇵 from 🇵🇭. I was watching your videos in Manila and other cities to prepare for my trip.
You are brilliant for doing that. I cannot even understand the trains and tubes where I live in Uk. Have the best time. Id love to go to Japan 😊
Thank you for coming to Japan!!!
Japan still has a lot of charm,so I would be happy if you would like to come back again!!!🇯🇵🤍

One of the best countries that I have visited I hope to be there again soon Japan
Welcome to Japan! Hope you'll enjoy your stay to the fullest!
Your ticket works just fine as you have JR Pass.
what month did you go and was it good weather/blue skies? i'm still figuring out when is the best time to visit

love Japan❤
Interesting that they have a trouser press in that room. You typically only see those in 4 star hotels in the US. I think it's because that hotel caters to mostly business people. I need to get back to Japan soon, it's been many years. I have relatives there so should be fun.
Your 5 Japanese words had us laughing hysterically. Thanks for the fun.

Tokyo looks amazing 😍 love your videos ❤️😊
went for the first time to Japan and got back 4 days ago, already wish I was back there. Most nicest people I’ve met, with such an amazing city.
I love seeing Japan through your eyes as a first timer! It reminds me of my first trip there ☺️ Everything was so fascinating then. By now it feels like home 🥰
I'm glad you enjoyed your trip to Japan.
There are many wonderful places in Japan, so please come again.

I’m a bit surprised to know you’re here in Japan cuz I started watching your video in Indonesia since I was there for business trip haha
I personally recommend you to visit other prefectures too rather than staying in Tokyo for 15days.
But anyway hope you enjoy and have a great time in Japan!🤗
Thank you!!
I'm going Tokyo in July for 2 weeks where eles do you recommend going also
If you want to see sumo or kabuki, go to Ryogoku Kokugikan or Kabukiza.
cityscape and scenery, go to Tokyo Skytree or Asakusa.
otaku culture, go to Akihabara.

I feel that peace too, and when I try to explain that to the locals, they think Im crazy.
@@shpeen8835 Don't worry, I understand how you feel.
It's a feeling that is hard to put into words, but I know you feel that way too, so I don't even need to try to explain.

Great video and new subscriber here! I’ve been to Tokyo 5 times and once alone. It is a fascinating place but very confusing at the same time. Watching your video brought back many unforgettable memories of Japan!
貴方はかわいい😮
I love how insightful and down to earth you get sharing the real deal of budget traveling. It's more relatable and really helps anticipating us in what to expect in trips like this. Keep up the awesome channel!
Also when you say you just wanna go into every shop and explore everything. That's what made me anxious about Tokyo, knowing I'd wanna experience everything but also knowing it's impossible because there's just so much. You could be at a golden gai bar having an unforgettable night and somebody will be also having that in a bar below you. So many major things happening everywhere all at once all the time.
I’ve never seen Shinjuku from a foreigner’s perspective and this video reminded me of that Japan is still a weird and exciting country. Thanks!
Hi! from Japan!
I started learning English with this video!
I want explore world like you someday!!
I will be able to speak English

Thank you for your grate video:)
The trains are one of my favourites things about Japan.
lovely ❣️ I read the comments and happy to know that many people enjoyed Japan. I wish more and more people come explore no-so-touristy areas, too 😉
You should have downloaded an app for all train navigation, it would tell you play-by-play.
Tokyo looks amazing 😍❤️
Actually, $80-$90 a night for your hotel room isn't that bad, especially with how much other places have increased their prices. I've seen rooms in North America to be in the $150-$200 range for a standard room, which is absolutely nuts.
It was $400 in NYC a night last Friday. Just an old hotel and not special.
This video brought back all the nostalgia and fond memories from past trips to Japan! Such good times. Thank you for that!

Tip!: when your ear feels like it has water in it or full after flying, move your jaw up and down repeatedly until it pops. The Eustachian tubes are NOTORIOUSLY BAD for acting up while changing altitudes.
Zane, my friend, you should be in Tokyo during Sakura time in March to see the cherry blossom. I will be the next year.😊
Although i'm japaneese, i'm sometimes confused when i use public transportation especially in Shinjuku station. So, it is even harder for foreign tourists
Great video. Never see the whole process on leaving the airport to your hotel so thanks for showing that.

Welcome to japan almost 1m views ❤ let’s go 💥🇯🇵
Fantastic video! It shows your excitement exploring Shinjuku area. I have been to those areas more than once but I have never seen anyone records those neighborhood/ally ways you did. Thanks for making it available for anyone to see.
Tokyo looks so amazing! This video convinced me to go!
Seen this video to prepare myself to be in japan for my first time this December.
Thank you for enjoying Japan. Please come visit us again
from what ive read and heard its not that people are cold there, its just that theyre very polite! its a culture shock lol
