  • In this video we take a trip to the site of an abandoned sawmill in the Otways.
The mill was operational from the late 20s through to the 50s.

The motor will most likely be from a tram tractor. Motor and tank now gone.

When i was a kid, early 80's we used to ride our motorbikes down to the mill, back then we could walk on the remains of massive sawdust piles... next to the mill.

@@mysteriousotways Where do I start! The family has owned a property on Sunnyside since about 1975, we grew up there using it as a weekend holiday destination. I got to know all the local kids our age and we all had Motorbikes and a great interest in exploring the area. We could access Henrys road through Nettle Creek and Nettle track at the back of one friends Farm. Would ride and explore all the logging tracks in the area (illegally lol). The sawdust pile at the Mill was massive, we were warned not to get too close in case it collapsed. Its probably all gone now, that was 40 years ago.. There’s more tracks and logging infrastructure remains off Smyths creek along the ridge too, by you need to get access from private property.

Looks to be remnants of a model t ford. The oval plates with inscription would have been the fuel tank ends
