You can make the nozzle bigger for more expansion of the hot exhaust gases up to the point where the exhaust gases are at ambient pressure in the atmosphere or vacuum in space. You can't expand more than the ambient pressure and produce any thrust.

Interesting point! That’s a very important factor to consider.

Unfortunately, what you really need is an Isp in the thousands. A roundtrip Mars mission is impossible with these Isps

Has anyone tried a reduction ball joint for more fuel with increased pressure

Good Morning. Great update on the science of the engine. Definitely pushing the laws of physics. The faster the burn rate. The greater the thrust. I'm sure SpaceX is developing more exotic materials. They will also figure out a way to make it cost effective. That's the mentality the have adopted to get as far as they have. They know no boundaries. That's driving NASA crazy. NASA used to think they had a corner on technological space market. You can bet if SpaceX continues to 3-D printing to make parts. They will develop a faster and more cost effective method in this market as well. Elon Musk is fun to watch. In one of my last lives. I programmed and made turbine wheels for turbo chargers. So I totally understand what you are talking about. It's fun to watch how what I used to do is somewhat outdated. Great Episode. Have a Great Day my Friend.

Hey there! Good morning! 🌞 Thanks for the awesome comment! It's super exciting to see how SpaceX is really pushing the boundaries of rocket science. The Raptor engine is a game changer, especially with that full-flow staged combustion cycle you mentioned. It's wild how they’re using cryogenic methane and liquid oxygen to boost efficiency and thrust!
I totally agree-SpaceX's approach to 3D printing and exotic materials is going to shake things up in the aerospace industry. They’re definitely on a mission to make space travel more affordable and accessible. And yeah, it’s pretty amusing how NASA must be feeling the heat with SpaceX's relentless innovation!
Also, it's cool to hear about your background in turbine wheels for turbochargers! Technology evolves so fast, doesn’t it? What used to be cutting-edge can seem outdated in no time. Anyway, thanks for sharing your insights, and I hope you have an amazing day too, my friend! 🚀

If Brits could deliver their famous Skylon engine, which I understand ran out of money, that would be a great accomplishment.

Pretty sure, "Plow Rate" at ~6:20 should be "Flow Rate"

AI voice. FIrst says Raptor 4 is about to be released. Then says could SpaceX be designing something above raptor 3

The pace of development in rocket engines is just hard to believe and to see ! Now leading to my next question the space x team players do they sleep or eat like the rest of the planet ? Saying rocket engines are near limit of physics what about the team players ! Eating fruit loops goes only so far ! Happy new year to all .

LOL ! I hear ya. Yeah, it's called youthful enthusiasm. They get to play with rockets! I'm 70, and I wish I could work there.

Only problem lv got is they will have to stop because the rocket will rip itself apart.
Last one they have to reduce throttle because the rocket was shaking too much

This channel has no idea what they're talking about. you have two 3D print the combustion chamber and a lot of the parts because it has integrated cooling channels in them that you cannot get unless you 3D print

They'll be guessing in many aspects, the coolant flow to cool the engines SpaceX uses will have em guessing and trying all to no avail, lol.
SpaceX is years ahead of everyone. The whole rocket industry is on notice.

Somebody said it has already been flown on Flight 7, but I understand the flight is for the 13th or 16th at most. Not only that, splash down in Indian Ocean was perfect and cargo, Links, dispensed. So me I don't know, Ogga[African for boss]

Elon has a trick or two up his sleeves. China may be marching forward with Long March, but mechazilla tower or not, re-use is SpaceX's game, so too, price point.
They know how protect info, Nasa has bagged a couple of spies so let's NOT FEAR. Copying IS NOT Prowess. America also STEALS, ykwim, yep!@.
