that is the kind of thing that I think drives any TV program into chaos behind the scenes. Instead of the producer wanting to increase the ratings, using unrealistic goals in hindsight, the producer should have been happy with the strong ratings it had and if ratings grew, wonderful, but if they remained steady even better. The mammoth GH ratings you write about is a perfect example. GL and ATWT often flip-flopped from #4 and #3 routinely and GH and Y&R flip-flopped from #2 and #1.
Something about the ratings dropping at this time, if I remember correctly, and if you remember, the Carrie story did not last long.Carrie came as Arts Graphics or something, fell in love with Ross, confessed to murder, tried suicide, went on trial, married Ross, then started having EVEN more blackouts until it was revealed that she had alternates, all within 1 year! How her co-stars were jealous is news to me. I don't know who you are, but you are amazing with your history!
So this was just a few weeks before Carrie was written off...I honestly felt that by this point, the Carrie story had become a little cartoony, but this was to wrap up her storyline and get her the hell out of Springfield (very abrupt, I might add)
