PA State Trooper Academy training is regimented, demanding, and exhausting. It is a life-changing experience. Cadets learn to meet and exceed seemingly impossible physical and mental challenges during their time at the academy.

Awesome video 💪🏿💪🏿👊🏿👊🏿👊🏿
I have a friend in the police. He always stated he hated me, and when I asked why? He stated everyone of the guys from the military always hit the drills, and PT way easier than anyone in the class and academy. Which made both of us laugh. As a vet I thank you for this channel and your approach to the subject at hand.
Id have to agree with that. Also thank you I really appreciate this
Not really. Most athletes put vets to shame. After all, most athletes went to college for sports, the non athletes went military
@@calebclark6739 ?? Athletes can be found anywhere
@@calebclark6739 but military personnel drill and PT every day like there’s no tomorrow, athletes don’t drill or march, they just workout and perfect their sport…

Evidently not the academy. Look at all the fat cops.
There is a reason why Troopers act the way they do, the training is pretty legit and they keep it OG unlike basic LE academy
And the reason is(Addressed to those who don't know the requirements) because unlike with basic LE, State troopers are required to have a college degree or military experience or past law enforcement experience. Most recruits have the latter. It's easy to keep training top tier when you have guys who know what they're doing already, it's basically a refresher course for them. Basic Le is designed to turn your average civilian into a certified gun handler and peacekeeper. It's a whole different atmosphere. If I were to compare it and it's a rough comparison because they are nothing alike but if I did, I'd say Basic Le is like boot camp and State trooper academy is like going to Infantry AIT. You're getting a more hands on approach, A more refined training if you will. Just how I look at it anyways.
@@IAmMoto25 pretty generic assessment.

Great video sir. Attending the PSP academy was the best experience you want to only do once. Great career.

I’ve always wanted to be a Pennsylvania State Trooper. Many don’t know but the PSP was the first in the country. The PSP is rooted in history and tradition. Highly regarded by former President Teddy Rosevelt.
That’s really cool , I did not know that
@Frank Bonazza III so what if someone kicks your door down and starts attacking your family and stealing everything you own , what would you do? Are you able to defend your home loved ones or would you just submit and let them do as they please? Ppl like you who always say this kind Bulls**t never realize the dangers/evil of human beings , look what is happening in downtown Chicago at this moment, without law and order we will 100% have anarchy
@Frank Bonazza III you ever see those crosses along the highway? That’s why they’re “road pirates” - so your family doesn’t have to erect a roadside cross because you didn’t abide by the speed limit. It’s not about generating money, never has been.
@@jamesrichey5334 well if it wasn’t about money they wouldn’t have a job in the first place... 99.9 % of their funding comes from the tickets they give.
@@MV-nt4bq absolutely false. You have zero clue. You could google how police is funded and learn for yourself.

My dad is a retired Pennsylvania State Trooper, so this video is so special! It’s so interesting seeing what he had to go through when he went to the academy in the 90s.
I wonder how the academy was like in the 90s I’ve heard both troopers an police say the academy back in the day was much tougher an the instructors were just plain assholes
Spent a week here when I was 14 for the PSP Commissioner's Honor Camp and this just brought back so many memories lol. Mad respect for these cadets and our troopers.

Thank you for being who you are, you manage to transmit through a great simplicity and charisma, that in life there is no impossible challenge, we must not let ourselves be defeated, we must fight for our goals.
Kudos to you Austen! Sending you love and healing after the hardwork!
What you said about Academy being just like Bootcamp is spot on, weather its training, PT, tasks and chores around the academy, inspections, etc. It's totally like bootcamp.
"she just walk behind like she is not scared, you never scare getting kick" HAHA doing horse riding for so many years I just freaking love Austen' reaction afraid about being kick by the horse I felt immediatly the moment he walked behind the horse at first he wasn't so confident to walk behind. Don't worry even here in France many people are afraid to walk behind horses
Hey everyone! I just wanted to share some good news with you all. Let's just put it this way, the Ten Commandments are called the Moral Law. Ask yourself this. How many lies have you told? Have you ever stolen anything? Have you ever used God's name in vein? Have you ever hated someone or ever looked with lust? This is for you to judge yourself, but chances are that you are a lying, thieving, blasphemous, fornicating, adulterer at heart and you HAVE to face God on judgement day. Now ask yourself this. If God judges you on judgement day by these Commandments, will you be innocent or guilty? Of course you'll be guilty because we've all done these things. The truth is that none of us are good people and we NESD God's grace to make it to heaven. We judt simply cannot do it on our own. These Commandments arecalled the Moral Law. You and I broke the law, Jesus payed the fine. So now what we must do to be saved is to repent of our sins and trust alone in Jesus Christ! To repent doesn't mean to just say I'm sorry, but to turn from our sins and let Him truly be our Lord continually. He said that many will say to Him, Lord, Lord I have done all of these things for you. And He will say I never knew you. Depart from Me, ye who work iniquity! And those will be cast into outer darkness and raging hellfire and loneliness for all of eternity!!! Because we broke His law, He is very, very just to send us to hell. If someone had murdered 4 people and said to the judge, I've done nice things too and have tried to treat people nice but it was just one time, the judge would then say, okay but you're going to jail. And the judge is very just to do that. One last thing, if you were 10,000 feet in the air and you had to jump, you wouldn't jump out and flap your arms and try to save yourself. That's ridiculous! You would put on the parachute. It is the same with Jesus. You must trust Him as you trust the parachute. We are not good and we cannot save ourselves with our own goodness. We must trust alone in Him to save us. In just a moment of time you can pass from death to life. Jesus said, "Verily, verily I say unto you, you must be born again." That is how we enter heaven. Through the blood and grace of Jesus Christ!!!!✝️If you ask someone how to enter Heaven, they will most likely say, "Be a good person." Well the Bible says that none is good, no not one. We like to compare ourselves to guys like Hitler and say, "Hey, I'm a pretty good guy compared to him." But when we compare ourselves to God's standard, we realize that the Bible speaks truth when it says that we all sinned and fallen short of the Glory of God!!! When we see this ( our sin in its TRUE light), we see how much trouble we are in and we say, "Well then there's nothing I can do. I'm going to hell for sure then." It's true that there is nothing that WE can do, but there is something that has already been done for you! God sent His One and Only Son to die on a cross as a sacrifice for our sins! So to recieve that eternal sweet sweet forgiveness, all we must do is repent of our sins (meaning to continually turn from them and confess them) and trust alone in Christ as you trust a parachute. If I was to push you out of an airplane, you'd want the parachute for sure! Don't try to flap your arms and save yourself, trust in the parachute! His finished work on the Cross IS ENOUGH!! He is the only way to Heaven, He said it Himself!! These other religions teach that we must he good and do good things and then maybe if we've been good enough, we will enter Heaven. But if that is true then we are all doomed to eternal hell because none of us are good. That's why this makes sense. Look at the Ten Commandments, they are written on your heart right now! I promise that you have violated them. And you might still be doing that today. Therefore God is just to poor out His wrath on us because we deserve it!! But Christ died for us so that we can spend eternity in Heaven with Him! Turn to Him today, and He and only He will save your soul "Verily, verily I say unto you, you must be born again ( to go to Heaven)."✝️The true joy of Christ dwells in me!!! Does it in you? I know where I'm going when I die! Do you? I have an ETERNAL victory! Do you? I have more joy than ever because of what Christ has done. I have been down both roads. The road of the wicked and the road of Christ. Christ is way better and my cup runneth over with true joy and salvation. If you do not know the One true God and are not sure of your salvation, I promise He will never fail you. Turn to Him in repentance and faith. Repent means to confess and forsake your sins, never turning back to them. I tried changing on my own but I couldn't. It took the power of Christ on the inside of me to do it for me. He will give you a new and clean heart with new and clean desires and you shall be born again. A new creation in Christ Jesus!! Hallelujah!! Jesus said in order to enter the Kingdom of God, you must be born again! Thank you Lord Jesus!✝️

My neighbor went through this in 2017 and he was in the Marine Corps before he went to the Pennsylvania State Police academy. The Academy he said was harder than Marine Boot Camp. I went to his graduation which is really cool and toured the barracks.
Also a few years ago the academy was doing tear gas training and some of it entered nearby Hersheypark which caused some guests over there to be impacted by the gas. A section of the park was evacuated.
NJSPs academy is much harder

For anyone wondering, I was in the USMC before I went to the police academy. The police academy was harder than boot camp. Firearms training was about the same, we did PT more often in the academy and still had field day inspections and all that stuff. What made it harder was all the academic tests you had to pass. You had about two hours of law a day mixed with scenarios. First guy to leave our class was a combat medic from the 101st. Second guy was a SP the Air Force. Having said that, an Army guy got our top shot award and our class leader was a Marine. The guys that really excelled in our class were guys who came from corrections. My roommate in the academy was a former corrections officer and he was awesome. Those guys do well on scenarios and have a good understanding of report writing and use of force.
Hey brother, I don’t know if you’ll see this but I’m 20 getting ready to head into academy when I’m 21, no military experience I just always wanted to be a trooper. Been through hell week and stuff with sports through highschool but I understand there is a big difference. Could you give me just some PT things I need to drill? Wanna train above requirements but from what I understand there’s no certain way to be prepared. Any input would be appreciated been awhile tho lol.
@@chaserobert474pushups, pushups, and more pushups. Instructors love making a set of 10-20 pushups take 5-10 minutes. They will make you go down and hold that position while they yell at the class, sometimes for minutes at a time, and then they will make you go right back to doing the pushups with no break or rest. If you fail to hold it, and you will, alot, you have to immediately get right back into push up position. Don’t let them catch you laying there or they will add on more pushups. When they tell you to get back up, get up immediately!!! Or they will tell you to get right back down and make you do it all over again. Burpees are a favorite form of punishment as well. Its okay to slow down or even fail, so long as you immediately get back to doing the exercise, whatever it is. They want to see effort and progress above all.

The brings back memories of my time going through the PSP Academy in 1990. I spent 22 years as a PSP Trooper (with 3 years of credited military service for a 25 year retirement pension). We didn't quite have the military drill sgt vibes from our instructors back then but they definitely instilled discipline in our class which was 80% military veterans. We are "The First and Finest".

This is crazy. Cannot believe they let you go through this but this is SO COOL!
This training is on par with Army OSUT for infantry. I love it!
I was thinking this looks pretty similar to OSUT haha
"Reminded me of Navy Bootcamp"....LOL. Having been in the Marine Corps and been through the CHP academy I'm gonna go out on a limb and say what you experienced at the state police academy was significantly harder than Navy. The Navy is not known for having a difficult boot camp. As a matter of fact, my son just graduated and said it was easy. State police academies are no joke.
Um, I've been through Navy bootcamp- this is easier by a fair margin.
New Jersey state police is much harder than Pennsylvania’s state police academy
No one cares dude. Army Boot Camp was rough to some and easier to others. No one cares marines get yelled at more. There’s a reason there is such a low retention rate anyways.
This is the closest American police training I’ve seen to Canada’s RCMP (Royal Canadian Mounted Police) training including cleaning horse stalls. Can’t be mounted without horses!

I will help you do some weed eating Battle bunker!! . 👍🏻👍🏻👍🏻.
My favorite Shipmate💪🏾💪🏾
It’s great to see people joining the PD for the right reasons vs those who join for money and the wrong reasons if you know what I mean.
I watched your obstacle course video and then saw you were in my hometown doing this! Wild but keep doing what you do man!
Looks easier then my Fort Benning basic training. Riding the horse looks fun
The taser is crazy
So much respect to you and all Leo's. TY4YS 💙 🇺🇲...
When you said it reminded you of Navy boot camp, I served in the US Air Force and reminds me of Air Force boot camp as well with some of the training.
