As for this performance - I was there, it was even more moving than this recording conveys. Same with the version she did in Portsmouth in Sept 2023 -many were moved to tears. Angelina usually tends to be a bit slower than the beat when singing a song. Also, she usually doesn't sing a song the same way twice. I guess it's due to her jazz influences. By the way, if you are going to react to songs from her Vegas shows, please use the videos done by TH-camrs James Thiel Channel) and Chris Walker (BigAngieFan Channel). They worked together to put together the best overall quality videos from this event....
For the Feb. 29, 2024 Las Vegas Westgate concert, there are a couple people who have video from several cameras and great audio as well, and that’s James Thiel (summaengineer) and Chris Walker (BigAngieFan). Theirs seem like the videos were made by someone who seemed to work for AJ’s studio. James Thiel has 20 songs, all in a playlist. Chris Walker has 12 songs he’s got videos of for us, plus some other videos of the Las Vegas concert, which you’ll have to find in the videos section. They’re both really great. There are quite a few others done by angels of the Las Vegas concert, but they’re not of the same production as these. I still love them all anyway! ❤

Aron, Angelina was God sent to heal our souls and bring love within. I was at the concert 4 rolls back stage left. The night was filled with adoring fans (Angels) setting at the edge of their seats hanging on ever note. I was overwhelm by her beauty and her voice was like fine wine aged to perfection! I'm not embarrassed to metion this song brought tears to my old eyes.
I was lucky enough to attend this concert in Las Vegas. The band was great, but there were minor hick-ups along the way. This was the first time Angelina performed with them and I don't believe they had a lot of time together to rehearse before the concert. Maybe a couple of weeks or so. At times the bass and the kick drum were a little loud for my taste, but still a fantastic concert.

Angelina's performance here must have been beyond excellent. Sadly, the low tones of the bass especially, caused the phone to reduce its overall audio level so it didn't run out of audio range and distort horribly. That can't be helped in real time, but maybe someone like Kaleidoscope RMX (hint, hint) can digitally decompress it and make it sound near as good as it must have been live. If not, it is still wonderful just as it is. Thanks!

A-Aron, I agree. When we listen to her sing in the low and medium ranges we know she is totally comfortable and we absorb it all. When she sings in the higher range we brace ourselves a bit hoping she will bring it home. Of course she does but there is no question we hold out breath for those moments. The Nobel performance's ending was nothing short of an out-of-this-world experience and I believe what we are agreeing on is how much more comfortable she will be in her twenties and we will be as comfortable listening to her

I think she really introduced her first upgraded head voice in "My Funny Valentine" at 16 and has been using it in various songs since such as "Love On The Brain" in her final concert at Kurbadhagen in Norway and the song by Labrynth. As suggested she has a 10yr old version sitting down in her home and then the 16yr old version. She also did this at the concert. I think for the most part she had the 16yr old version in her head but could not do it at the time which is incredible in itself. I think she worked a lot on her upper register and if you think about it---its only 6 years and the change is monumental. I was there for both shows. Truly spectacular. Aron, just a heads up. If you decide to do more of her Vegas show, the best, by far, were uploaded by James Theil. His are near professional quality. He was in front row center. There are a few others out there, like this one, that are good, but none of them compare to James’s.

@103mrg What I love most about Angelina's singing is her expressiveness in the service of the meaning of each song that she performs. You hear very little vocal gymnastics just for it's own sake. Yet in many of her TicToc and Instagram shorts, for instance the parking garage shorts, she is playing with her tone and vamping all over the place. She is constantly experimenting and not afraid to show us even if it may not please everyone. The results that I have seen in her live performances and original new music never fail to surprise and delight me as a musician and they always seem to touch my heart in a way that few other artists do. One my favorites from the Vegas concerts was her rendition of My Funny Valentine which pulled back from her version on Boris P's YT channel and she made way for a beautiful trumpet solo in that performance.

(My only nit: I would have kept the trumpet muted throughout.) Just magnificent!....Resonating with all the points you make justifying your admiration for her miraculous talent, I simply label it as Angelina's musical creativity. It's unparalleled.
Already from early years she altered rhythm and phrasing not to have other instruments compete with her consonants. There are examples of young drummers, especially girls, who have grasped sub divisions and syncopations already by the age of 4, like Caleb H and especially the phenomenon Yoyoka.
It's my understanding that Angelina almost always leads the beat. This band didn't really have an opportunity to learn her style before this performance. Band members have to follow the arrangement exactly, or they'll easily get out of sync.
We are so used to hearing PERFECT backups, perfectly recorded. That's why we think she's seriously special. This night was very special and I was there. But I honestly felt the band was.... ok, but they also were the least familiar with her sound. That's out of every other person there. The whole band should sit together one weekend, listen to her and fall in love with her. Rob Christie was there and came out on the stage. He even played a song with the band. If he would have played a duet with Angelina, I personally believe they would have stolen the show. But he wasn't trying to steal the show. He was there to show support from Republic records and get this band up to speed on short notice. Just my opinion.

No, Aron, she did not sing this just like the Nobel Prize presentation. She purposely toned it down and made it more respectful for the occasion, plus she accented it differently to bring out the meaning of the song to fit the occasion. @103mrg She ends the song with a D6 which is considered the low end of whistle register. Definitely new territory for her and confirms what Aaron was suggesting in his reaction: that she will be exploring the higher ranges as well as her beautiful low tones.

@103mrg What I love most about Angelina's singing is her expressiveness in the service of the meaning of each song that she performs. You hear very little vocal gymnastics just for it's own sake. Yet in many of her TicToc and Instagram shorts, for instance the parking garage shorts, she is playing with her tone and vamping all over the place. She is constantly experimenting and not afraid to show us even if it may not please everyone. The results that I have seen in her live performances and original new music never fail to surprise and delight me as a musician and they always seem to touch my heart in a way that few other artists do.
One my favorites from the Vegas concerts was her rendition of My Funny Valentine which pulled back from her version on Boris P's YT channel and she made way for a beautiful trumpet solo in that performance.

(My only nit: I would have kept the trumpet muted throughout.) Just magnificent!....Resonating with all the points you make justifying your admiration for her miraculous talent, I simply label it as Angelina's musical creativity. It's unparalleled.

Already from early years she altered rhythm and phrasing not to have other instruments compete with her consonants. There are examples of young drummers, especially girls, who have grasped sub divisions and syncopations already by the age of 4, like Caleb H and especially the phenomenon Yoyoka.
It's my understanding that Angelina almost always leads the beat. This band didn't really have an opportunity to learn her style before this performance. Band members have to follow the arrangement exactly, or they'll easily get out of sync.
We are so used to hearing PERFECT backups, perfectly recorded. That's why we think she's seriously special. This night was very special and I was there. But I honestly felt the band was.... ok, but they also were the least familiar with her sound. That's out of every other person there. The whole band should sit together one weekend, listen to her and fall in love with her. Rob Christie was there and came out on the stage. He even played a song with the band. If he would have played a duet with Angelina, I personally believe they would have stolen the show. But he wasn't trying to steal the show. He was there to show support from Republic records and get this band up to speed on short notice. Just my opinion.
You reacted to the wrong video. You should have seen her sing this at the Nobel Peace Prize recently. It was otherworldly and perfect for the occasion. Please watch it also and compare. Thanks!

No, Aron, she did not sing this just like the Nobel Prize presentation. She purposely toned it down and made it more respectful for the occasion, plus she accented it differently to bring out the meaning of the song to fit the occasion. Go back and listen to Nobel again,and you will see the differences. Thanks, Aron!
