The reason it says "Movie Scene" soundtrack is because Xenosaga II had two composers, Yuki Kaijura and Shinji Hosoe. Yuki Kaijura did all of the cutscene songs, so her soundtrack release is named Movie Scene while Hosoe did all gameplay related songs (area & battle themes) but never released them due to them being fairly unpopular when compared to Kaijura's tracks. In Xenosaga III, Kaijura took over as the sole composer for the entire OST.

I love how Yuki Kajiura gave a unique feel to Xenosaga among the xenoseries. Yasunori Mitsuda worked on Episode I's OST, Episode II is a mix of Yuki Kajiura, Ayako Saso, and Shinji Hosoe, and Episode III is Kajiura alone. Kajiura never did any tracks for other xeno games, not even the DS demake of 1 and 2 (which was all Shinji Hosoe, who also did the OST of Xenosaga the Animation). And all Xeno game as an ending theme in english, indeed. but I don't even think there's a single track with japanese lyrics? Except if you count the Xenosaga Freaks Reservation priviledge CD lmao. veeeery different vibe, I might request one of those one day, for the lol.
FICTION II is Kajiura's own album (it's her on the cover, not a render from game characters, just in case), in which clean versions/rerecordings of many Xenosaga Released, and not just saga II, III too. these songs include the Image theme, by the way. The FICTION II version does have an additional verse, coming from a live version played at some even in japan in 2010. I'm pretty sure the "movie" version simply means the OST of the Game, but extracted, no dialogue, etc. which not ALL tracks had that treatment, especially in Episode III.
Also, Yes it was KOS-MOS, and Yes, there was a bike, too.
Oh and peak SMT background OST. By the way, I wonder, do you add the background music when editing the video, or do you press the play button as soon as the music you react to starts/stops?

Xenogears' arrangement albums added Japanese versions of two songs, one for Small Two of Pieces titled Mebius and one for Star of Tears named Two Wings (with their own lyrics, as in the meanings of each of the songs are entirely different in JP), but other than that, no other Xeno game has any Japanese songs, as far as I know. Certainly none directly used in game, of course.

Yuki Kajiura was a composer for Xenosaga, she worked on 2 and 3.
Also yeah you've heard previous Xeno titles soundtracks since you started playing Blade, you even made some connection with 2's Anuna themes (mostly the one from Tantal and Indol) and Gears
I still need to play these games
Hopefully they release remasters or ports on modern platforms soon

2:03 yep thats KOS-MOS. To be specific it's the second body she gets in the xenosaga trilogy+the motorcycle she has which is part of Shion's(her creator) spacecraft
Worth noting the first song is sung in what we call Kajiuraese, in many games and anime you'll find she sometimes sings in a language meant for the listener to apply a meaning to. She compares it to the love of opera songs she had as a child and how she couldnt understand the language of the lyrics yet loved them all the same

Yuki Kajiura is mostly known for her contribution to anime music. You can hear her work in .hack, Demon Slayer, and Sword Art Online.

The first song, the image theme for Xenosaga II, is actually a trailer song but comprises different themes within the game composed by Kajiura. The opening theme is different and is basically the leitmotif used for Episode II which is also used as a basis for Sweet Song.
Also, yes, at least for Xenosaga, besides Episode III's final battle song called promised pain, you've only heard of cutscene/ending music so far. Admittedly, Xenosaga's OST is known mostly for its ballad/slow music so I think that explains your requests so far, but there are other stuff in it as well. I hope you'll get to listen to more of Xenosaga's battle songs in the future because they're all good and some of them are very unique (battleland being my favorite).

The two verses of sweet song reflect a visual motif. The song reflects the childhood memories of a core character.
In the game those memories are summarized in 2 visits into the mind and memories of that character, once in the summer, once in the winter.
And so, the two verses, I remember the days of summer/winter.

Damn I never thought I'd hear Yuki Kajiura on here, I loved her work in the .hack anime, but didn't know she did video game stuff. She has such a unique style but you usually only hear her do anime music.

Yeah Xenosaga is a full space oprea setting. Yeah that is Kos-Mos on the picture of the first song. Her design just looks different each game with that one being the most diffrent from her XB2 counterpart.

I think the pipes are Uilleann pipes which are a type of bagpipe. The reason I know this is they are prominently used on another Yuki Kajiura song I like called “Red Rose”.

Yeah, Xenogears was I think one of the first JRPGs to have a vocal theme? I remember not too long ago, looking through old internet Xenogears and Squaresoft fansites, seeing people's reactions about it in old forums before the game made it over here to the west. Fans who imported the game in order to play it early, pre October 1998, were sharing details about it and english fans awaiting the game's NA release were intrigued, saying like "wait, the ending has lyrics? as in it actually has sung words??"/"yeah, and its fully in English".
Soon afterward having a single vocal theme, often very reminiscent in style to Xenogears' Joanne Hogg ballad, became common in the Final Fantasy series with FF8's Eyes On Me, followed by 9, 10, 12, 13, etc, though not always in English, of course.

I actually don't remember the Image theme in Episode 2. But my god, the Episode 3 version slaps so hard. It's a song I listen to very often.

The music for 2 and 3 are by Yuki Kajiura, and since you enjoy the Nier music, I think you'd really like the Xenosaga music as it's also primarily written in a chaos language.
P.S. These games are some of my favorite of all time; music, characters, story, all amazing.
Xenosaga 1 is composed by Yasunori Mitsuda, who I know you've heard of/know music by. It has it's gems music wise as well. I know you've listened to a song called "Promised Pain", but there's a song in Xenosaga 1 called just "Pain" that I highly recommend a listen to. It plays near the end of Xenosaga 1 and whenver I hear it, it's tears time.

Xenosaga was the original spiritual successor to Xenogears, and was originally meant to be this super ambitious quasi-mythical saga (hence the name) that would stretch a single story across six "Episodes," which were intended to take many years to develop. However, due to cost overruns, staffing issues, and disappointing sales, the series was cut down from six parts to three. It's still quite a good series, but you can tell how much meat was cut out of the story, especially when you get to Episode III.

Gears and Saga have some difference from Blade that show up in the soundtracks above and beyond different composers.
So in Gears, while there are distinct themes for most of the towns, dungeons and similar areas don’t really have that. There’s only two dedicated dungeon themes, each used in multiple dungeons, in addition to several dungeons that use other themes from the game and several more that just use ambient noise.
Xenosaga goes even harder into using ambient noise, but unlike Xenogears, each game in Xenosaga might have only one or two areas that can reasonably be called a town in the jRPG sense.
So functionally nearly EVERY track in Xenosaga except battle themes (which there are very few of per game) is an event or character theme.
Xenogears has a more even mix, but it’s still very different from Xenoblade, which has multiple themes for each area/dungeon in addition to a greater variety of battle themes.

To reiterate what others have said but provide more (non-spoiler) context, yes that is KOS-MOS. But she looks off in the 2nd game because they made a weird decision to change from the anime aesthetic of Episode 1 to a more "realistic" (for the time period) design for Episode 2. It did not go over well at all for the fans and 2 is largely hated for it. Which is a shame because 2 honestly has a great story. Episode 3 went back to the anime style designs after all the backlash Episode 2 got.

    Xeno Chronology:
Xenogears: Made by Square, considered one of the best game stories of all time, ran out of money in development and has an infamous 2nd disc.
Xenosaga: Made by the same team who left Square and formed their own company, considered a spritual prequel to Xenogears, 3 main games + many side games, mixed reviews overall.
Xenoblade: You've played them, generally not related to Xenogears/Xenosaga story-wise but keep some concepts overall.

Oh yeah, they call her "Cosmos" in Xenoblade 2, don't they.
Why?? They have three games where she's called KOS-MOS in both Japanese and English. Is that down to XB2's lack of good English vocal direction again? I can't imagine they mispronounced her name in Japanese.
