David has several affairs, even publicly, wasn’t there for Linda after a car accident, and commandeered the boys show as his own. The boys did ask the parents to take part but supposedly the producer was starstruck by David. Linda waited until after the show’s premiere so that the boys could have their moment and she filed for divorce the following day.

Hearing David's daughters comments on him clarified a lot too. In interviews around the time of the show they speak negatively of him and then years later when they were promoting their show, he was a "good dad" to them and made sure to swoon over how much they love his new wife clearly showing disdain for Linda.
