It feels so good to be back in Vorkuta! Make sure to follow me on Instagram at @davelegenda to catch the behind-the-scenes of our mission to the northernmost latitudes of the legendary Komi Republic.
It's very mean of you not to include landings or takeoffs into videos that are essentially aviation-related. The bus is the Liaz-677, a legendary machine in a way. They used to be all over the place up until the end of the '90s or even later. It's a petrol v8 with a 2-speed automatic gearbox. It had some shaft which ran i don't remember what that made the famous bottle clagning noise. Nostalgia overdrive.
The An-24 is not just some Soviet-era turboprop aircraft. This is an airplane designed for landing and takeoff from ordinary land, that is, it can simply take off from an ordinary field. It was developed for the military, in order to fly into the most unprepared unpaved airfields. Therefore, it’s funny to hear that you are telling stories to ordinary people that the landing gear can burst. 18:35 These landing gear struts have a 20-fold safety margin and it will land where no Boeing or Airbus will land. So be proud that you are lucky to fly on such a unique aircraft; the Soviet Union took care of your safety.
“We all know that safety is paramount here in Russia.“ *laughs in “just hold your seatbelt in your hand while we're in the city, once we're out on the Kolyma you can let it go.“ *
I dont know if you read this, but i just found your channel, and i absolutely Love it! Huge respect for the EFFORT and RESEARCH you put in the Videos! It feels like i found the Perfect yt channel. I am also a fan of old aircraft! Thank you for the video! ❤😀
Excellent video Davide! I'm always so impressed with your knowledge, mastery of several languages, and your ability to make friends wherever you go. The passion you out into these videos is wonderful, and i love taking peek into these different corners of the globe that i will most likely never get the chance to visit. Thank you! 😊
Great video, thank you so much! My dad, who passed away few months ago, worked in this town of Siktivkar when Bulgaria was part of the CMEA(Council for Mutual Economic Assistance).
I love your videos Davide. You produce them with such professionalism and filled with facts. Also, your superb level of the English language would put some YT native English language speakers to shame.
I would actually feel a lot safer on this Antonov 50 year old plane than on a modern one full of electronic gadgets that can fail at any moment. This looks like a straightforward plane to fly and probably made of better quality materials than what they use today and assembled in a better manner. I really enjoyed your video and seeing how you make friends everywhere you end up. I'm a bit sad you didn't get to film the cockpit but that's understandable as maybe the company didn't want to. I know absolutely nothing about planes and this was a fun video to watch. Thank you.
l like your passion and it is a pleasure to follow you, Vorkuta seemed that distant it could be, but it does made me curius, always been fascinated by theese outcast cities the world doesnt hear about and for the peope who live there, how do the lokal market get veggies and milk without any roads? Supplied by train? From were? One hotel! Any tourists? You got it, like the way you express the world and you are un feared of doing that, let the show go on and you do it the best.
an interesting note about Russia is that during the last ice age the glaciars only extended about halfway west to east along Russias north coast, The character of the coastline changes at the western edge of how far the glaciars were. The northeast coast of Russia was glacier free.
You have the most fascinating aeroplane videos. And I must commend you to be in Russia/Russia adjacent countries. Or to have anything to do with Russia frankly.
The designer of the helicopter at the end of the video must have had enough towards the end of the design phase and just plumped for using a shopping trolley for the nose gear…. 😅 great video as always.
Sort of interested in some sweet pictures and info of 50 year old Soviet Women or Vorkuta females, ive always wondered what iron curtain flight attendants look like on your trip reports, sweeeetttt!
It'd on my list, however I don't think it's going to be easy at all, as it's basically a Canadian military base. Even the Wikitravel page just mentions something about maybeeee getting a permit from them to visit as a tourist, but I have no idea on how to get started. But if anyone knows something that I don't...let me know :D
As a citizen of an "unfriendy country" myself, I have been to Russia 4 times since the war started and, compared to pre-war, have never faced any issue with getting a visa or receiving extra attention at immigration.
Omg i searched the crash history of this model of plane and seems hundreds of them have crashed killing tons pf ppl. Now i truly appreciate what u done here. This is coffin with wings
I will prove to you that you are, to put it mildly, a narrow-minded and reprehensible amateur. Look at the Boeing 737, it’s also an old plane and has been flying for over 50 years. During its entire operation, 219 aircraft crashed and 5,585 people died. This is Wikipedia data. Now we look at the data on the An-24 from there. Over the entire period of operation, 174 aircraft crashed and 2232 died. Is there a difference? Boeing claimed 2 times more tons of lives than Antonov.

Still up there in the freezer... Weather looks sht, infrastructure crap, and local people miserable... I hope u still enjoy urself up there... Overhere its plus 10 degrees, green, blue sunny skies and the Tulips are already above ground... Next month they will be flowering. I think u still will be in snowy, icy, freezing conditions overthere... Bye.....!!! Ciao!!!
Do you think Alaska's local airport infrastructure is better? Good infrastructure is usually found at international airports with high traffic. And for such a small town as Syktyvkar there is no need for super infrastructure, it is uneconomical. This arrogance is unfounded.
22:44 What difference does it make where they find your corpse, gnawed by wolves or a wolverine? You will still have to conduct a DNA examination. Is this hype for naive residents of warm Italy?
Travel to and in Russia seems like a huge risk. While u don't say anything negative directed at putin govt, the fact u focus on crumbled infrastructure may piss him off one day. 2 yrs today they invaded ukraine and the terror continues. Be safe. Maybe pick another country to explore while putin alive and italian govt opposes invasion of ukraine 🇺🇦 and offers support to them. Your income from these postings on utube may not be worth the risk at this time
Interesting travels Daveed. But by going to Ruzzia for vacation and yt videos, you are supporting the Pootin war machine. Indirectly, but still. Think about it amici. Greetings from Tallinn. Kinda cold here also.
Anyone who spells 'Russia' like that can be disregarded at face value, as they very obviously spend too much time on Twitter and have little idea how reality works. Think about it amici.

I assume the air stewards asked him not to.
@@Charlie1776_why 😂
@@Charlie1776_ Nah, he has the film of all of it, because he includes the beginnings and the ends, but not the interesting stuff in between.
During takeoff and landing he records and speaks in Italian, that is on the Italian channel because he has a larger audience in Italy
Still safer than 737 Max
Such a gem of a channel love your videos

Спасибо большое за видео братан
You have the most fascinating aeroplane videos. And I must commend you to be in Russia/Russia adjacent countries. Or to have anything to do with Russia frankly.
30:25 Not Mig-4 but Mi-4. You probably just mispronounced it. Good video btw. I liked every second of it! 👍
The designer of the helicopter at the end of the video must have had enough towards the end of the design phase and just plumped for using a shopping trolley for the nose gear…. 😅 great video as always.
I would have run a lap around the monument of the 67th parallel! Wouldn't have been able to help myself.
Never ever would i fly with an airplane like this😄
The helicopter on the monument's piedestal is a Mi 4 not a Mig 4
Your mission Russia is incredible
I like airprop engine well not the speed but almost good for most for 2500,0 miles to go.
what do you think about Alaska? even thought not now, asking because it was CCCR
no. Nice try, though.
was that a still frame from LoFi Girl? 😂 btw, don't take it the wrong way but I love the Italian Borat vibes on this channel.
You are quite the daredevil David! Great coverage! I think I spied a Dodge Ram 4X4 in the Vorkuta airport parking lot?.
Yes
How do the cars in the lot even start without engine heaters?
It's only -20 degs he said. If the engine is in good shape it will start without trouble.
Talking to your phone was a bit off putting...weird
Sort of interested in some sweet pictures and info of 50 year old Soviet Women or Vorkuta females, ive always wondered what iron curtain flight attendants look like on your trip reports, sweeeetttt!
You should visit Alert, Canada
I'm honestly surprised that you are able to travel through Russia as an Italian due to the political situation

This is not Mig, this is Mil-4 helicopter
It is a Mil 4 actually not Mig 4.
As if gravity doesn't act on Western and European planes
Happy to see that global warming is still not happening
KING OF SIBERIA XD

Is there any footage of the aircraft? It's thirty minutes of selfies and you talking to the camera. You think you're interesting, don't you?
