      Papa Brad,
I'm glad you enjoyed the review! I'm planning on building the 4KP with my brother this Saturday if all goes well. I'll have to get some good playtime on it before I attempt a review, I want to make sure I give it my best :)
Sorry to hear you're feeling under the weather. Sending good vibes your way that you get well soon :)
I don't know if TMCLOSKY sent you a copy of the email I sent him that had the Frankenstein animitronic I wanted you to check out. Here it is below, along with a Slimer I recommended for him, and a Mars Attacks Martian I'd love to have. They're a bit out of my price range this year, but still ultra cool!

      Raydelatorre9532,
The Tron arcade machine definitely holds a special place in a lot of us classic arcade goer's hearts. Such an iconic and beautiful cabinet.

      Glen,
Thanks for stopping by and glad you liked the video! The fact you have the community's back with replacement parts, as Arcade1Up support has rarely been more than a punchline, has been invaluable. Arcade1Up wouldn't have survived it's first couple years without Glen's Retro Show 👍
Thank you for all you do!

Hello VideoGameVegas!! I ended up changing out the controls for GRS spinner and Flight stick. Had to 3D print a mount for the spinner.

      Thumpersquid,
And that's why I continue to consider Arcade1Up products that appeal to me. I knew Glen would have my back when it came to righting the wrongs in any control department. If anything goes out on mine, you betcha I'll be hitting up GRS for the fix :)

Thorough review. Having been there when the arcade scene began and seeing Tron in the theaters when it was released, I need to comment on a couple items. The movie was good in my opinion and advanced for the time it was produced. It gets even better each time I watch it. Now for the cabinet. My home arcade began with real arcade cabinets and pinballs. However, there were a few cabinets that I wanted that are just too finicky and expensive so Arcade1up provided a good alternative. These were Star Wars, Dragons Lair and Tron. I really enjoy the Tron cab and feel they did a great job. Throw a metal collar under the flight stick and you won’t be too concerned about it breaking. The upright Discs of Tron didn’t have speech when it was released in the arcades, so no problem there for me. Also, after three contacts with support I have to say I’ve been pleased with the speed of the response and resolution for cabs and pinball issues I had.

      GrampsArcade,
You definitely are in good company when it comes to the movie Tron. Several folks I know like the movie as well and I'm glad you enjoyed it. I also remember seeing it in the theater. I loved the special effects, and the Flynn's arcade scene. I've tried to revisit the movie a few times throughout the years, because I thought I might just be missing something, but like The Phantom Menace and Star Trek The Motion Picture, it's just not a movie for me.
I understand what you're referring to when you say "real arcade cabinets," you're talking commercial machines. I'm glad some consumer grade machines were also a fit to fill out your roster. If it weren't for Arcade1Up, I wouldn't have a Home Arcade today (well, that and a guy named Glen, from Glen's Retro Show, who saved my first A1Up cab with his real spinner replacement). Commercial machines aren't for me, but I do enjoy playing them outside of my home.
I love Arcade1Up's Atari Star Wars, their best cabinet to date in my opinion. I was all in, at one point, to get the Arcade1Up Dragon's Lair, but the competition, and A1Up's own missteps, made me choose a different path. My journey to get good Dragon's Lair representation into my Home Arcade was long and arduous, so much so, that my journey spans through 4 of my videos (My thank you video to iiRcade and my three iiRcade cabinet reviews).
I never knew that Discs of Tron arcade first released without speech. As I mentioned in the video, I don't ever recall playing without it. I remember the first time I played Discs of Tron in the arcade on an environmental cabinet as a kid and being enthralled by Sark taunting me with his quips as I battled him. But since that wasn't your experience , I definitely understand why Arcade1Up's choice not to include the voice samples wouldn't affect you here. But I think my solution makes sense, have a menu option to where one could toggle the voice samples on and off. Sound can be a HUGE part of the experience for some, it is to me, thus why I have a separate category for it. For example, the main reason I passed on Arcade1Up's Frogger was they couldn't get the rights to the original theme music. Choices and circumstance aside, I just wouldn't compromise on that. Of course, I don't begrudge others who were perfectly fine with a different tune.
As for Arcade1Up support, I'm glad you had great experiences there. That just hasn't been my experience. I've detailed many of my experiences in my other reviews if you're curious.
Thanks for taking the time to leave a thoughtful comment. It's so great that we get to experience licensed versions of arcade cabinets we loved back in the day in our homes. It's a great time to relive those memories :)
      Cheers!

I agree with that $400 price point. The controls are lack luster. Heck my spinner dead with the machine off. But it does look nice in my arcade!!

      TMCLOSKY,
Yeah, Arcade1Up's version of Tron is more showpiece than an amazing arcade machine to play. Sorry to hear about your spinner. You may want to look into getting a Glen's Retro Show Push Pull Spinner. I've heard they're quite good.

That's great to hear! I just hope Glen makes an updated version of his iiRcade control panel with push pull spinners. I want to play Capcom's Forgotten Worlds like I remember back in the day :)

Agree with you on the price and the missing voices. Also the background in Discs Of Tron is missing. In MAME you can add a digitized version to the game.

      Lolcowtv4666,
I do miss the background on Discs of Tron, and with iiRcade painstakingly adding in the background on a game like Space Invaders, it just shows a continued lack of respect Arcade1Up has for these classic games. But I kind of expected Arcade1Up wouldn't include the background on Discs of Tron given the many machines they produced that had Asteroids Deluxe without its proper background. A shame.
Thanks for checking out the video!
