Elvis was a great actor and he should have received an oscar for his contribution to the movie industry, after making 31 movies with hit songs, that promoted them. Everybody enjoyed the films at the time they were made, so I don't know when's the better time to honour the King.
There will never be another Elvis Presley. Living in Las Vegas for thirty something years I did get the chance to meet him. Played a show with him in Austin, Texas at Butler Softball Diamond. He wasn't even the Headliner. I think if my memory is correct that was in 1955. Sonny James was the headline act. A few months later he was selling out venues all over the world.

I have always wondered what would he think of the music industry today, if he had the right people around him and got his physical health back on track. He will be, in my opinion, the "King of Rock and Roll" now and forever. There will never be anyone like him again, he set the bar for all the music performers around. His fans are from all of different ages and eras, he will continue to be the song in our hearts...

Elvis was truly one of a kind. Fantastic singer, awesome entertainer, handsome, everything a star could ever want. He had charisma and charm. But he lost Elvis the person somewhere. He could not accept his fame and learn to slow it down a notch or two. He was not sure how to simply be glad to be alive and be at home in Graceland. He needed a year at Graceland with no entertaining, have good doctors get his health right, then learn to only do 3 or 4 concerts a year and maybe a TV special every couple years. It just shows how we rake Superstars over the coals and let them die.

this is my son's account but I had to comment, love this video, thank you. you brought back so many lovely memories for me. I love elvis, evry time i see something on him i still get choked up that he's gone. He died when I was 15 yrs old, so he's been gone most of my life but i loved him even then. I tried to get all his movies on video, some of them are so old now they're unplayable.

Very underrated actor too, didn't get the chances or big films he shoulkd have done from what I have read. Studio bosses as usual manipulating stars for their own short term gain. I always watched all of his films when I was a kid during school holidays and loved them all,
