Amazing track. Gary Numan is soooo underrated it's a bloody crime. How he is constantly passed up at awards ceremonies year after year is beyond me. If ever there was a worthy recipient of the award for outstanding contribution to music then it surely must go to him.
This song makes me think of being marooned on a dying alien planet, far off in the cosmos... and like, I'm sitting out by myself in a desert watching the sun fade out in the sky with every passing moment, and the natives are just running around in a panic while I sit there and just kind of watching it all. Surreal and haunting, indeed.

best thing Gary has done for many many years, and that's high praise, cos he's done loads of great stuff on Sacrifice, Exile, Pure, and Jagged. wish he'd follow this sound now, and move away from the sound of the last few albums, time to evolve once again, to even greater heights..... :O)

Despite all his critics over the years, he is still going strong after more than 30 years, and producing music as good as he has ever done, and even if his music is not to everyones liking, his music is as good as any of the past or present artists, who many have sited Gary Numan as a big influence, and for that I think it's about time he got some sort of award.
Love this song. For some reason, it ended up in a dream I had last night (no shit, swear to God) and I ended up singing it in my head during and when I woke up. Some people have met people from other places, planets...some haven't. Maybe Gary is one of us...

Ancients is one of Gary's most unique songs... many of his tunes are awesome, but this one is in a totally different class as far as imagery and feel. Not even the Exile & Pure tunes, which may be similar in some respects are not like this song in epic tone. Jagged album songs like Halo go beyond this on in "darkness". Ancients has an interesting balance to it :) Just my humble opinion... I really like basically everything Gary does
@BowtoPtah His pop stuff inspired them but he didn't start sounding like them until after they were both around and established. I love all three and it's interesting to see how their influencing each other progressed over time...

This could easily be used in a lot of Hollywood movie soundtracks. A great and underestimated , under praised recording by Numan.
