People actually did eat with hands in Europe for a long time. Yea, they used knives to cut the food and spoons to eat liquid-ish food but forks were used around 13th century, give or take a bit of time. There are writings about King Barbarossa of Germany has first seen forks on Serbian court while he rested there during the Crusade. He had contact with western Europeans before but never saw it. No idea who did it 1st, but if the western European nobles got 1st introduced to forks then, certainly the poor people there didn't really use them either

Nowadays, there are traditional dishes that are normally eaten with bare hands.

Exactly! They ate refined flour which is less nutritious rather than wholewheat like peasants had to.
They also drank too much, consumed way too much fatty food and used ridiculous amounts of sugar in their food.
It's all a recipe for gout, diabetes, heart issues and nutrient deficiencies.

In XVI-XVIIth century Poland it wasn't strange for nobles to have a dinner around 11-12am and supper around 5pm, in the next century they've spread it out so breakfast at around 8am, dinner around noon and supper around 8pm. For peasants and manufacturers breakfast was as early as dawn, so depending on season it could be between 5 and 8am and the rest was around the same time.
Now the kinds of food. The poorest tried to spend nothing on food, so yes, sometimes they ate wild berries and semolina from forest, but now time for disgust: flour made of couch grass after it was dried. Other position was "borshch" (yes, it doesn't have "t"), basically either soup made of borshch herb or... bran in boiling water. You could also eat sorrel, nettle or acorns. It was literal holiday if there was anything meaty on the table and most likely it was either wild animal or domesticated animal, that just died for whatever reason.
Normal peasants had a bigger variety, since they ate stuff that could grow in a little garden. These also ate a bit of dairy, but sour cream was still a luxury. Meat also since nobility after a while banned peasantry from hunting after they saw, that they "steal" their animals.

There is a lot of inaccuracies in this video. For example, you stated that the rich would eat the bread bowl, but that is seen as an extreme offense. The bread bowl was used only to soak up all the dripping fats and such is used more as a napkin. These bowls might be given to the servants after thou to eat, but never if you were rich. And even that was rare. Also while hunting animals might be illegal, fishing was not. Peasant food is actually today's "wealthy" food. Fresh fish, lentils, brown bread instead of white, etc.
I think you guys are more referring to perhaps Late medieval era dining rather than early or central medieval era. Cause you mentioned use of cuttery, but they did mostly use their hands and usually the only cuttery was a knife. But cleanliness was a high priority. They would soak their hands in rose water and of course use the bread as napkin.

Dont get caught off.. there are ALOT of errors in their videos more often than not. Sometimes small. Sometimes big. Dont use this as your end all be all of knowledge. This is VERY VERY condensed information. Specialy their history. Things that took 20yrs to happen or change condensed into a 10m video... You lose alot of information and context. Same as why movies based on books.. the books have alot more information in them.
Use this as an entry level " hey thats interesting" deal.. and then dig further into that subject farther if its interesting to you. When you do this and actualy study a topic you enjoy.. youll start to see the errors in condensed information... Sometimes the context or detail is far more important than what your given.. not what happenes.. but why. And why that lead up and why that lead up etc.

Ruminants thrive on grass and that's free resources just like buffalo or zebras in the wild, even beef need less resources than wild buffalo since you're supposed to keep cattle in rain rich regions and not water poor regions. Water? beef need less water than plant food since cattle drink rainwater, even if there's no cattle there will be same amount of rainwater in the area. Plant food need water from sources humans need.
