    Hi Jenny, just a slight correction- ephedrine actually stimulates the production of norepinephrine NOT hinder re- uptake as you said . In fact , one has to be careful when using in patients that take certain anti depressants that hinder re uptake of norepinephrine like MAOs ..And the term you are looking for when a drug works and then no longer works is “ tachyphylaxis” - ephedrine is a great example of this on those catecholamine depleted individuals. There are few other errors but would make this comment too long .( stoelting- pharmacology, dukes anesthesia secrets 2006)
