Those paint schemes on those Metra locomotives are beautiful. Chicago & North Western, The Milwaukee Road, Chicago, Burlington & Quincy, and State of Illinois.
It was a one time thing. Only reason why MP36s don’t run on the UP lines is because of the weight distribution per axle limit on the bridges. Heavy weight+4 axles doesn’t work. Heavy weight+6 axles however(cough cough sd70machs) would work better.
My favorites are Metra F40PHM-3 211 Chicago Burlington & Quincy & F59PHI 90 Chicago & NorthWestern but I’m not gonna lie I’m surprised Metra selected 90 to become Metra’s new Heritage Unit on Union Pacific because 90 entered service on the Milwaukee Districts & North Central Service Lines I could see possibly 75 or 76 being two possible choices since they both entered service on Union Pacific but congrats to Metra & kudos to all of the hard working men and women who repainted F59PHI 90 into the Chicago & NorthWestern colors and it looks fierce and amazing
My Favorite Metra Heritage Unit is definitely either 90 or 402. I connect with 90 because even long before we ever saw it, I was saying they should make a CNW Heritage F59PHI, and then they did. And also, I've always liked CNW, so it's great they have a unit for that. And even though it's technically a Heritage-Harmer, I like that it has an E-Bell, since I hate EMD Steel Bells, so that's a quick thumbs up for 90. I understand it should have a Gong Bell, but where on an F59PHI would you mount one of those? My only downside is that they chose 90 for this. 90 was already a unique unit when it first tan for Metra, so they basically tossed one unique scheme and replaced it with another. 402, in my opinion, has the best paint scheme of all the current special Metra Units. It just all goes together so nicely. Then there's the fact that even before it was special, this unit has always been the "State of Illinois", then they just decided to seriously spice it up. But the best part, is that beautiful Mixed Cast P5. No dispute, it is the best horn that has ever adorned a modern Metra unit (besides the 9-Chime Horn that 142 had long ago). It's even better than CDTX 8306, and will certainly be better than whatever the TRCX F40PH-3Cs sound like. 425 is a close third. I also really like the paint scheme, the little tribute cresting on the side, and to be honest, it's quite underrated for a Heritage Unit. I feel people don't really talk about this unit that much. Notice how it only appears once in this entire video.
i'd say the 405 is probably my favorite of the bunch (i always liked it when it was first revealed). now i do like all the metra heritage units and the illinois unit i just think the milwaukee road heritage unit is my no.1 favorite.
It’s basically heritage units but 402 is a special interest unit since it doesn’t fall under the fallen flag railroad company. It represents our state.
Metra 405. I Really Like How It Looks And Has An Accurate MILW Orange Paint. Also It Was My First Heritage Unit. So I’m Really Happy To See It In This Video Also Note 405’s M5 Metra 211. Ah Yes The CB&Q The Forgotten Railway. And Also 211. 11 Is My Favorite Number Metra 402. The P5A Horn Makes It Much Better Also I Like How They Replaced The Old Paint To The State Of Illinois Paint. It Used To Be In The Lightning Paint Saying State Of Illinois And Now Its In The Full Illinois Paint Metra 425. Even Though I Didn’t See It. 425 Looks Nice Don’t Prove Me Wrong Metra 90. It Only Runs On UP Lines. I Love It
I wonder if metra will painting other heritage locomotives 1. Great Northern 2. Northern Pacific 3. Frisco 4. Burlington Northern and 5. Santa Fe blue and yellow or silver and red.
Like the Heritage Units, they should do a BN one also, how about Chicago Sports Teams inspired paint schemes also. My favorite Commuter Railroad, like how the still use Gyra Lights even though they also have ditch lights.

This attention to detail and love of color by Metra for those special loco color patterns is remarkable for a modern commuter railroad and super cool!
Always love the "Heritage" paint schemes. I'm old enough to remember the actual railroads. These units are wonderful.
Nice! I have seen the Illinois train and the Milwaukee but love to see all Metra's heritages! ;)
Seen Milwaukee but not Illinois!
@@ryans4116I've seen State of Illinois (402) while visiting a friend at the Joliet Rock Island station
Nice compilation of Metra Heritage and special paint schemes. I really enjoyed watching this video. Thank you for sharing this video with us!
Thank you! Glad you enjoyed the video!
Also glad to see somebody else railfanning at Rondout I go there all the time! ;)
I saw Metra's new F59PHI #90 CNW Heritage Unit at Crystal Lake on October 7th with a bunch of people
Awesome video, Andrew! Hope to see you on the 27th and the 29th!
Thank you!
@@ATrain4014 No problem!
Im so Excited! I have no idea how 90 can be Paired with 402 which are Different Units that run on different lines

Cant wait for a f40ph heritage unit
Hello.
Nice capture:-) Thank you for sharing. Stay connected. Greetings from Japan .
Kinda sad how there's no videos of Metra 211 honking. :(
Still though nice catches.
I have one 211 was blowing its horn because the crossing at Brookfield was malfunctioning badly
Awesome will be coming over from the UK as soon as I can. On a recent Fairmont rush hour movie did see that 204 is now advertising burritos 🙂
Nice another live stream in 3 days
Also out of curiosity what line does the F59PHI CNW unit run on?
All UP lines
Awesome. Keep up the nice work. From BDW Trains. Stop by when you can!
Thank you!

6:00 Seeing an MP36 on the UP-NW line is extremely rare
NJ Transit has been doing this as well. I would like to see one in the old Rock Island colors!

what's with the special horn on 402 at 12:00? Every other clip it has a K5LA
That was a Nathan M5. I think it was after that unit was unveiled, they put the M5 on there for some reason

Sometime in summer maybe June
How long did it take to record all of these metras. Months?
Would it be cool if the Burlington heritage F40PHM-2s was lined up next to Burlington E5A 9911 that would be a great picture
