It's kinda amazing the improvements we've made in technology since then too. My grandparents probably seen this commercial as kids and now they have a 4k TV sitting in their living room connected to internet that can receive at least 10,000 times more data than an old TV.
it doesnt need to have cocaine but the sugar in coke has the same affect on human brain that cocaine has.So you can understand why people are addicted to sugar.:-(
I still remember the old Coca Cola bottles. My family used to buy 12 Coca Cola bottles in a wooden crate down the street. That sundry shop is no longer around. I missed those years.
I'm here to enjoy the video. I looked up these old commercials because we watched a couple in my American history class. They're entertaining. I don't hate regular people or mainstream culture. I'm simply annoyed by people who romanticize a time that wasn't the rainbows and sunshine you make it out to be. Every time period had its good times and bad times, but none were the perfect "good ol days."
So it’s little wonder that smart shoppers everywhere take time out to pause and refresh. So where else but in the fountain where they serve ice cold Coca-Cola. Almost everyone appreciates the best. And the bright tang of Coke is always welcome after a busy day of shopping. The bracing sparkle and the bit of quick energy you get in Coke makes it the perfect refreshment every time. Gives you a bright little lift. It brings you back so refreshed so quickly. What the song says is really true.
Something to point out here- they're advertising drinking Coke as a treat when you're out and about. People now sip on soda one after another. Same with snacks and fast food. What used to be a treat is now every day for the average American. Notice the portion size difference, too?
Unwarranted Self Importance well it’s a good thing I’m not black plus their is still people hating on blacks nothing has changed the world is never perfect
yes, back then drinks were served in much smaller glasses. Unlike today where you get served in a quart sized cup. This is one of the reasons why people weigh so much more today. I sus pect restaurants started serving such huge portions because they could get a bigger discount buying in bulk. They got a discount, passed the large portion on to the customer, the customer in turn felt like they were getting a lot for the money, and in turn the restaurant got more business
I wish I had that Coke banner behind those ladies, kept in great shape, vintage Coke things can be thousands and thousands of dollars, wouldn't be surprised if some things of Coke could be as high as a million dollars
Another video for us to tell our children once in time there was nation where optimism had no limits and the good feeling everything is going right was in everywhere. Gotta love America. And get to see it's sinking right ahead of our eyes.
The Coca Cola bottle has hardly changed, save for the logo which used to be embossed on the bottle but now it is printed with color red and white. I have an antique coke bottle retrieved from a sunken sea vessels in the 1940's which is very much the same as the current bottle.
another reason cars today all look alike is "wind tunnel testing" for areodynamics. Years ago the auto makers couldn't care less about areodynamics (although Chrysler was experementing with it in the 30s). when fuel economy became the main issue that led to wind tunnel testing, that led to cars that basically all looked alike conforming to the body shape requirements of sleek areodynamics
The reason why people romanticize the 1950s is because aside from the obvious racial inequities it was a time when "on only one pay check per week a family could live fairly well", people had manners, the crime rate was low, unemployment was low, teen pregnancy was low, illegal drug use was low, the USA was "on the way up" not down. It was a time of optimisim. True every peroid in time had it's good and bad points but compared to other eras in time this was a fairly good one
Somehow, I’ve managed to find myself watching commercials from the 1950s. Let me tell you a funny story. About 4 years ago, I dreamt that a 1930s Coke ad was out, and it was the same as the one seen here, but it was distorted and weird.
That was a young Diahann Carroll ("Julia," "Dynasty") in the flash frame before the Coca-Cola live commercial. What TV show did this originate from? (much respect Ms. Carroll...still beautiful at almost age 79 as of 8-1-14!)
This show, despite the date, was from early 1955--when Diahann Carroll was in the Broadway musical HOUSE OF FLOWERS....she performed her show-stopping number, "A Sleeping Bee".
I don't know about you, but if I'm ever around a jukebox, or one of those old-fashioned table-top jobs like the one in this commercial, I ALWAYS spend my hard-earned quarters on PRODUCT JINGLES! Doesn't everyone?!? I was in a cafe on Route 66 the other day, and I ordered a grape Nehi with my grilled cheese sandwich that came with a choice of potato salad or cole slaw. I had the slaw. Anyway, when I went to play the Nehi Pop jingle, IT WASN'T THERE! I got up and left! Boy was I steaming!
Back in the 1960s, in the summer, we would often grab two six-packs of delicious, ice-cold Coca-Cola in King Size (10oz) bottles and a barrel of Kentucky Fried Chicken and go to Deer Park in Newport News or to Chic's Beach in Virginia Beach.
They should bring back those table jukebox's..but instead of the jukebox..they should be table ipod jukebox's where you can play whatever music is available for download.
Its really odd that people only call times they like "regular" and every else era "non regular". Yeah, they are dreaming a nice dream where only your favorite time is the regular time.
Energy that comes from sugar... (or high fructose corn syrup these days, but you can always import the stuff from other countries where they haven't replaced expensive sugar with cheap HFCS yet)
Im not trying to tell you that the 50s were the worst era for drug use or crime or anything like that. I was just trying to point out that bad things still happened in the 1950s, it was just not discussed in the public domain. I dont believe for a second that teen pregnancies or crime rates were lower then they are now, they were just reported differently. Imagine how many birth certificates were tampered with by mothers who'd conceived whilst the baby's 'father' was fighting the Germans!
I love how every one of these old commercials has a jingle/song.
HELLO U STILL ALIVE MAN ?
😂😂😂
Yssssss

VirtualPreston same here
VirtualPreston, me too.
Same.
Somehow, Palpatine returned
Me too 😂
Well I can say even though it's more than 50 years old this commercial is highly effective.. I really want a coke right now
WAAAAAAY better than the commercials they put out nowadays.
"When coke had cocaine" That would make you 90+ years old.
it doesnt need to have cocaine but the sugar in coke has the same affect on human brain that cocaine has.So you can understand why people are addicted to sugar.:-(
I wish they would bring that back lol
Would be buying tons of Coke 🥤
@@PannakoppalaI love sugar.

Back when every commercial was like a Disney movie.
WELL WHAT CAN I SAY NOW IT'S 2021 COMMERCIALS ARE LIKE SH*T THEY USE WOMEN AND STUPID SIGNS FOR VIEWS .
@@gopower566 you are right
Hands down my favorite beverage!
Thanks for this commercial
I like how it’s more of a business pitch rather than a company trying to be funny
Now this is class... Today's commercials are funny and all but i really wish they still made some classic, cool commercials like this...
Back when commercials were straight to the point.
Geico commercial still hold the bag bru
They sure were telling how good the product was back then!
The commercials were so much more simpler back then

Look how small it was back then compared to now 😂. The glass he was holding was barely bigger than his hand, now they come in gulp size
It was probably because of the cocaine
The song is very good and classic
"coca cola is the best refreshment"
water: am I a joke to you?

Ah, that cocaine refreshment...
hahaha ikr
Apparently it was a small amount. Not enough to make you high BUT it did make it more addictive.
From the NBC Television Network series "Coke Time with Eddie Fisher." The Black & White series aired from 1953 to 1957.
Commercials were so long back then 😂

Hummmm!!!, Nope, i don't think A Million dollar, but banners yes can go high as $10,000 in original state, no restauration
I have a little coca cola bear statue... it's also a voice recorder Haha I got it in Mexico a couple years back though
That's Fred Robbins, who spoke for Coca-Cola in their commercials on Eddie Fisher's "COKE TIME" (1953-'56).
I don’t drink coke anymore, but before when I did, it was the best beverage ever in my life.
Happy 135th Anniversary to Coca-Cola!
Another video for us to tell our children once in time there was nation where optimism had no limits and the good feeling everything is going right was in everywhere. Gotta love America. And get to see it's sinking right ahead of our eyes.
I like how the logo hasn't changed a bit 😎
They tried to change it in 1985 (alongside a slightly changed formula) but it resulted in a huge backlash.
Dude the commercial in those times were so much better in my opinion.
This one really makes me wanna take a coke unlike the ones today
Back before there was a throw-away culture. No plastic straws :)
thanks that makes sense. I think it's fine to celebrate the good times.
All I remember about the tableside juke boxes at the Larchmont Diner is that "Funky Broadway" was #A8.
The Coca Cola bottle has hardly changed, save for the logo which used to be embossed on the bottle but now it is printed with color red and white. I have an antique coke bottle retrieved from a sunken sea vessels in the 1940's which is very much the same as the current bottle.
These adverts fly pass so fast I can't take it in.
Hey look...they're all skinny. Maybe it's because those Cokes are only about 4oz. each.
Or perhaps they don’t drink an excessive amount of the beverage and enjoy in moderation like you should with all foods?
@Mentor Altaïr ibn la'Ahad That's true too. Haha

Hey! I just had an old fashioned coke yesterday!
Someone sold one of those fountain machines on Pawn Stars.
all I can think about when the gingle starts is Nuka Cola
That's because it's based on these little jingles.
Back when coke was made of sugar
so now it isn't?
Still is in Mexico. Just buy one of those that say Made In Mexico.
I heard they stopped using sugar in MX recently
That's why I buy Mexican Coca-Cola.
Duncan Bates 'tis a lie! As long as you get the glass bottled imports that is.
Amazing pre-drop clip
0:40 If you didn't laugh at "the bit of quick energy you get in coke" you're not human.
THIS
don't forget the sandwich. Cocacola wasn't forever alone!
My mom and I feel like having a Coke whenever we go shopping! Grocery or otherwise!
Well, gee. You certainly have some pent-up rage.
man, I wish I lived in the 50's...everything seems so innocent and simple
Sure it was. 😒
You are a coke addict seek help
For Certain People
If you were white and male, absolutely. A little bit less "Innocent and simple" if you weren't
I watched Pepsi commercials from 1946-1984. I prefer Coke and it's bright tang.
That sounds great!
The 50's Were my favorite years
They should bring this back for the coca cola commercials. The older generation will actually go back to drinking them. :)
I love this :)

Let me tell you a funny story.
About 4 years ago, I dreamt that a 1930s Coke ad was out, and it was the same as the one seen here, but it was distorted and weird.
Dear coca cola...Please remake your old recipe. I would have LOVED to see how that tasted.
That was a young Diahann Carroll ("Julia," "Dynasty") in the flash frame before the Coca-Cola live commercial. What TV show did this originate from? (much respect Ms. Carroll...still beautiful at almost age 79 as of 8-1-14!)
I've never been a fan of Ms. Carroll. She talks too dramatically.
This show, despite the date, was from early 1955--when Diahann Carroll was in the Broadway musical HOUSE OF FLOWERS....she performed her show-stopping number, "A Sleeping Bee".
i'm telling you, trust me-those 1953 cokes tasted better than it does today.
The coke back then had a kick to it. It was so carbonated it kind of burned. It was great.
The upload is on my birthday
Congratulations
Same! ( ╹▽╹ )
this reminds me when i was 5 and thought people in the 50's were only grey and trust me that freakin scared the pants off of me
Good point. I wouldn't say so, but NYC was the American Dream, a place to strive for.
They should bring back those table jukebox's..but instead of the jukebox..they should be table ipod jukebox's where you can play whatever music is available for download.
Who's this guy? I've seen him in 3 old coke commercials now.
Its really odd that people only call times they like "regular" and every else era "non regular". Yeah, they are dreaming a nice dream where only your favorite time is the regular time.
Back in the days when Coke syrup and Water weren't Pre-Mixed..Ah,those Great Days!
People ate so little back then. So classy.
love this add
I drink my Coca Cola every day! Tastes great with scrambled eggs and toast!
My kind of breakfast! 😁
the glasses are still the same shape after 50 years.
Make that 110 years old.
How did you find this ad???
I think the commercials worked. Now I want Coca Cola!
Host looks like he was putting rum in his coke.
hmm, 59 year-old coke...my grandpa has one from the 30s and its still full
@AbduCola - wrong. there was cocaine in coca cola only for a few months after its creation, about 50 years before this commercial was made.
I love ice cold Coca Cola
Still true today! But I have to drink it from a cold thick glass as it tastes better. No ice please.
In the eighties, lots of folks got their lift from Coke!
Energy that comes from sugar... (or high fructose corn syrup these days, but you can always import the stuff from other countries where they haven't replaced expensive sugar with cheap HFCS yet)
The portion size is like half of what it is today
Remind me of a mad men episode

What we have now no good but this is good.
Someone just make a time machine already!
Couldn't help but notice they did not keep the Coke logo on the glasses facing the camera.
Damn slow down... Coke is meant to be savoured.
1953... Oh yes, Coca-Cola did good on those years back and it's still doing wonders today!
Glowing faces & condensation on glasses meant that A/C not working either. (I know, hot lights from set)
@Spjungen I can't figure out what part of my earlier post you (dis)agree with....
@PoisonSapphire Isn't Fall Out 3 set in the 1940's?
Looks like a dream, the 50's where strange.
