Oh y'all FYI, don't make stock using ONLY food scraps. The stock takes on the flavor of the scraps and it'll taste disgusting if your veggie combos don't work well together. For a traditional western tasting stock, make it with whole onions, carrots, celery and then add a few handfuls of vegetable scraps into it.
Some other ideas to use leftover food: 1) anything is great on pasta, 2) small amounts of leftovers go really well on top of poke bowls, or fried rice, 3) you can grate leftover food and toss it into a salad, 4) if you have a blender pretty much anything may be turned into smoothies, or soups, or pancakes, or muffins or even waffles, either sweet or savoury. I once even turned leftover lentil soup into falafels, and they turned out great
@@jamieingels1190 Banana peel pulled pork is a thing. You use green to ripe banana peels. Scrape the white part off, shred into long pieces (can use a fork), cook, add seasonings. Dunno if it'd be to your taste, but it's an option
my thoughts exactly !!! I think it is super irresponsible not to mention that in the video. PESTICIDE SOUP ANYONE????? Also, why isnt she using the parsley stems? They are totally edible and yummy, a real zero waste approach would be learning to eat or cook every part of the veggies. Broccoli stalk once peeled is super sweet and delish, stalks of parsley, cilantro, dill can be cut into little pieces, use green parts of leeks not only white pat etc. Most of all, buy organic locally sourced veggies.
There must be a better option than a plastic freezer bag... I was surprised to see them in THIS video! I've been using reusable silicone bags... but there's probably something wrong with them that I don't know. Any better ideas?
I use reusable silicone zipper bags for certain things. They're freezer friendly and food for when you want no air airing touching the food, like dough. I use glass storage containers for most everything else.
I actually stopped eating beef, mainly because of the methane Production of the cow farms. I love this video! Thank you for All of this great information! i don’t think it’s a city or american thing. i don’t know what type of thing that is. i don’t think i’ve ever cut off the top and bottoms and just thrown them away unless they were bad.
You don't need air or a lot of space or have any stink if you Bokashi compost. I will NEVER go back to regular composting again. Plus the time is cut drastically and the plants grow like crazy!
how can i be zero waste while in college and living in the dorms ive always been interested in zero waste but i feell like i cant do as much as i wa t and also with my college being more stirct with covid?? any tips would be helpfull!!!!
Please don't buy a composter!! Trench in the garden or pile up or use a recycled plastic bin with red wiggled worms and shredded waste paper can be used in the house

my cravings change on a hourly basis, so meal prepping and planning for a whole week doesn’t really work for me. what does work for me is cutting/prepping somethings ahead of time. i’ll chop up veggies, meats, and fruits ahead of time and store them like that. sometimes i’ll go ahead and saute or grill some of the veggies or meat so that i can just throw them together in a dish.

Combatting food waste is an important topics but i find it HIGHLY IRRESPONSIBLE that you don't mention to buy ORGANIC produce, especially when u are using those veggie peels to make stock and bake them later. Most of the pesticides are on the skin of veggies, so if you are suggesting to people to boil them then in the same breath you should mention to only do that with ORGANIC VEGGIES UNLESS THEY WANT A PESTICIDE SOUP. DO BETTER GOODFUL!!! Pesticides are real and very terrible for human health, if u buying non organic because u cant afford organic, then DO NOT DO THIS. THROW THE PEELS AWAY.

I wash out my ziplock bags, dry them on a rack made to dry them (a much appreciated handmade gift) and reuse.
Wow I feel so privileged, in my council they collect food waste (we have a bin for it) and the council composts it
Unless it’s organic I feel pesticide is in the vegetable peel so I wouldn’t cook it and use it.

But isn’t that why we wash our produce?
You can wash your vegetables…
Or even just dirt, in stuff like potatoes and carrots. No matter how much you scrub it often just stays there, in the little nooks and crannies
major cities offer composting services where you pay a monthly fee and they deliver/swap a bucket each week at your residence.

Glass containers work great! Plus they're easily stackable, which makes for a really well-organized freezer.

i'm pretty sure they just took another video and put it into this one, i've seen it before. but yeah, reusable bags are good
I was just wondering if anyone else noticed that ziploc bag!
I always try to reduce plastic. But from this video, we can see that we can always recycle plastic in our own homes.

I love ❤️ your GOODFUL channel! I’m sooo into it!!!
I stopped due to the air pollution from the dust the cows kick up! Travels thousands of miles.
The way she peels & cleans her veggies aren't that zero waste 😳. We can save much more for just correctly peeling & preparing our veggies
Thank you! Exactly what I was thinking.
I wouldn't recommend putting onion skins in your veggie stock as they impart a bitterness.
Btw, food scraps veggie stock is much more flavourful than regular one
Love the video, but I had to mute it. The music was very annoying :/ Good tips though!
Being zero waste is awesome.
Honestly speaking is impossible
But I still do my part
Top and bottom scraps on a potato? Is this a City people thing or an America thing? Not here to bully just curious 🙂

Wow... You actually throw away a lot of good stuff !
Great ideas ,thank you!!👏🏽
I want to believe the potato and carrot peels are washed properly before peeling. Great ideas anyways

planting scraps in the ground's a great way to get more food out of the plant!! That's waht those inedible parts are for!
can i ask what that music is? it's simply awesome? help!
not double dipping - like taking from a pot - and sharing food with those around you keeps it all from going to the compost bin!
Thank u for teaching us
But why only use a teabag once? You can easily get three cups from it
Video look great! ❤❤❤❤❤
NOOOOO potatoes dont have ends
I'll try my best👌

For whatever reason my cat was mesmerized by this video
When I saw the cabbage, I wondered if you were gonna make kimchi. Nice ideas
I thought about sauerkraut
Am I the only one that doesn't peel potatoes and carrots? I just wash them a bit and let the cooking kill anything else. A bit of dirt won't kill me
Be kind, be vegan.
I bought a refillable coffee pod from my local H-E-B.
