I really love listening to the new order, and imagine when I watched that recent video with Ellie (where she plays the guitar), I thought that I had already gone crazy and heard this song from everywhere. I was even scared for a second of this and was so glad you would know:c
This song has always been one of the best for me. The singing is more like "telling a story", kinda in between singing and rap. Sumner may have less "edge" in his voice on this video but it stills fits very well the music and the mood of it.
I had a battery powered shower radio in high school that only got the local top 40's station for 6 months I head this every morning , often with a hangover this is the first time I've had this in almost 30 years Goosebumps and tears all at once!!!!!!

@@FeelGoodInspiration Tom Chapman, replaced Peter Hook in 2011. This is good, but it feels like Bernard is trying to cancel Peter Hook out of the band by taking all of his parts out of the song. Sorry, guys hook is the best.

I gained knowledge of that song through Luka Rocco Magnotta who used it in his self-made Gore Video One Lunatic One Icepick, which I watched only because of curiosity. Unfortunately the parents of Jun Lin will associate that great song with the murder of their son and not with a positive emotion. RIP Jun Lin
@@HaraldSjellose I agree that Hook always brought that Rock'n'Roll attiitude & energy to their live shows, and the band needed it. The other members of the band are, fundamentally, awkward introverts in a business filled with extroverts, as well as introverts who learned to adapt..lol. So, Hook helped by kicking their butts & challenging each member to produce the best music possible , while he was taking a somewhat unconventional approach to being a bass player in a band. Unfortunately, the personal chemistry was too reactive, so it was inevitable that there would be personality clashes & strong differences of opinion re: songwriting & the direction of the band.
I can't imagine a less EXTRAORDINARY performance of this song... can't someone stop them??? Or at least book this show into Vegas with proper dancers???
This is my FAVORITE song from NO and probably from the entire 80s.
y del milenio
would been better if peter hook was still in new order was in the following video
Like me!!!! L
Better than ...
Great song and those lyrics are just as true now as they were in 1987
Good to see Gillian up there
The greatest song ever written
One of 'em without no doubt
nothing worse than a fans opinion on an ok song

Definitely one of my favs👍😃
why is the crowd so janky ?? they need to turn up, guy like 5 rows back knows EXACTLY what's going on!!!
That is so funny and so true 😂
Seeing them at the Sydney Opera house on Saturday, very excited.
i would not see New Order without Peter Hook.
I'm a Boomer who loves this song!
I am a millennial who loves this song lol
It's like they're putting on a SHOW and the crowd can't be bothered. If this was in Manchester it's a completely different atmosphere...

Sound exactly like they did 30 years ago. amazing.
great song the 80s and 90s had the best music. not like today's crap.
cool
i don't care about age or techniques used ; Its New Order and still a wonderfull great band!
and they still look so cool in image and performance!

Possibly my favourite New Order song marred by Bernard's terrible singing.
Chris F in all fairness he is in his sixties so this is pretty good considering. Even geddy lees voice couldn't stand the test of time as well.
@Polecat71 isnt it the same dude? The voice sounds the same just obviously aged

You can tell the audience is full of entitled, privileged BBC staff, only person in the audience is actually moving...
I'm sorry, but... This is sad. He shouldn't be doing it like this.
So much better without hooky
To the childhood i llost , replaced by fear ... so very true .. great lyrics so many people identify EXCELLANT TUNE
During the intro the audience is so captivated they didn't even dance.

Why do they insist of playing this version live, terrible performance if i'm being honest, loses all the feeling of the original

A certain sense of liberty

Of the things that cost you too much
[Chorus]
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see the light in the shade of the morning Sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning Sun
[Verse 2]
When I was a very small boy
Very small boys talked to me
Now that we've grown up together
They're afraid of what they see
That's the price that we all pay
And the value of destiny comes to nothing
I can't tell you where we're going
I guess there was just no way of knowing
[Chorus]
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see the light in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...
[Verse 3]
I feel so extraordinary
Something's got a hold on me
I get this feeling I'm in motion
A certain sense of liberty
The chances are we've gone too far
You took my time and you took my money
Now I fear you've left me standing
In a world that's so demanding
[Chorus]
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see the light in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
That my life would depend on the morning sun...
I used to think that the day would never come
I'd see the light in the shade of the morning sun
My morning sun is the drug that brings me near
To the childhood I lost, replaced by fear
I used to think that the day would never come
