20 years for completed 4473 forms, when the F.F.L discontinues business the F.F.L. must send their firearms transactions records to the National Tracing Center (NTC). They can also be delivered to your local BATF office. This includes all bound log books acquisition / disposition books, and computer printouts, ATF Forms 4473, Theft / loss reports, multiple sales reports and any Brady forms if applicable ? BATF last review was 9/22/2016 and subject to change.

Do you consider the 4473 to be gun registration? Why or why not?
If it is a multiple handgun transfer, a multiple purchase form must be filled out. The feds and state will know exactly what was purchased
They are also required by law to keep the forms for 10 or 20 years. Most places do it electronically now and its also kept that way.
@@Billy420-69 It's 20 years and if they Close the Gun log books must be handed over to the BATF by mail or handed over to your area BATF.
Yes it's a small card they mail to them, no gun shop in my state that I know of will not allow you to buy more than one firearm in a 7 day period.
Last gun shop I purchases in New Hampshire on 7/24 the 4473 was done electronically, is this all gun shops ?
I worked at a gun shop for a few years until recently and they've done it that way for at least 8 years.
