In 1971 a senior gentleman came into the bank I worked for and on three SEPARATE occasions within a year cashed in $6,000 worth of change each time. 6K in 1971 money is equivalent to 40K in 2020 money

It is free at my bank since I have an account there. It prints out a receipt that I take to the teller. Also.. I find silver coins sometimes that reject due to the different weight which is very cool . I reviewed all the coins before I took them, to make sure there were no numismatic, silver or foreign coins in the jar.

A lot of people leave coins on the ground at McDonald's drive throughs as well.

It cost you $19.60 to use that machine. If I was really short on cash, I would roll my own. But that's just me. Like they say, time is money, so if you could earn more somewhere else, then it's a good thing. I sub'ed to help you stay on TH-cam. Cull Silver sent me.

Texas... mostly worked in Kuwait and Qatar doing project management over the last 10 years.

It is Velocity Credit Union in Austin, Texas. I think most Credit Unions have them now and they are free for customers. Make sure to check the reject tray! That is where you find the cool silver coins that reject. :)

Got to pay closer attention to the receipt at these type of coin returns, I saw the two different amounts and did not just assume he was having to pay the fee.

Nope, free service since it is my home CU. I have 4 or 5 other branches I use where I can turn back in coins free after my coin roll hunts. I am in Qatar now, so I am really missing Coin Roll Hunting and Coinstar finds. But Thank God I have a job.

only 5% fee, coin star is like 12%.
I don't have to pay a fee.. at my bank.
I saw two totals, not sure why you think he was charged the fee, but yeah one if for customers no charge and the other for non-customers. but the most a Coinstar location with charge is 11.9% not yet 12 for the cash voucher or if there is a gift card option available and to a place you like to go to you could get that for no fee to pay and get full amount back. Even if you have to pay a fee its still a fair price compared to federal tax

I think it was a bit lower. If you watch until the end I show how much it was. I did not have to pay a commission since it was my credit union unlike Coinstar. I wish they had coinstar here in the Middle east where I am working now finally,... so many cool coins here! Thanks for the visit Zulai.
