Yes! Finally someone made this video! It's always very funny to me when people think they have a Pleasant Company doll when they actually have a 2005 Samantha or Marisol. Fun fact - my circa 1993 Samantha has an ORANGE body! My 1996 Molly has a 'patchwork' body. She has some orange patches as Samantha does but also dark tan patches.
I lost my beloved Kirsten doll when my house burned down, I wanted to replace her but had no idea there were so many model types. I got her in 2004 ish as a gift.
Oh my goodness, I am so sorry that that happened to you 😔 My worst nightmare is a house fire, I have lots of dolls and collectibled and I have all of my lovely pets too - I would obviously need to quickly get my pets and my family out if there was a house fire in my house (which I pray there never will be) but I would also want to rescue my dolls and all of the things that I have collected over the years but I know I wouldn't be able to. The thought kind of stresses me out a bit 😬 I saw a Kiersten doll on eBay a week or two ago, she is over $200 and I don't know how old she is as the seller didn't mention when they bought the doll and they haven't shown tags or neck stamps or anything that might identify how old she is so I can't be of much help but I'm so sorry that you lost your doll 💔 Life is not fair sometimes 😣
My mother recently found a pleasant company Molly doll at Goodwill for 15 dollars! Yes it is real and this video really helped in figuring out how old she really is and she is an early one but no glasses, hat or box but has accessories and an outfit! She is in great condition too!

Thanks this was very helpful!! I believe that early dolls had thick limb strings which means they would be less floppy, but earlier dolls have thinner limb strings (or if they came back from a restring at the doll hospital).

I love tho. I have two dolls from eBay who now are boys, but one i believe is Pleasant Company as he has no body tag, a PC neck stamp with an artist mark next to it. So I assume he is fairly early. Maybe late 90's? The other boy doll has a 2008 American Gril tag on it with a PC neck stamp. He also has an artist mark so I am confused as to what age he is. +ags.forever #21 is almost certain not a Pleasant Company - only first 20 have been released as "Pleasant Company", If she's got a 2008 short tag, then she could be from 2001-2009 (21 was released in 2001) - you could try removing the head and looking for that internal tag (but as I said, not every doll from that period has it). Samantha can be PC if she's got no tag (no evidence that it was cut off) and has darker tan body cloth & distinctive stitching like I've shown (and of course more chubby - they make perfect boy customs :))

I found out that my doll is from 2002 because she had the stars on her legs. Her tag said 2008 and I was confused because I knew she was not bought in 2008 but you told me that it did not mean the age so that was helpful thx
Pink Magic Ali yes! Only Kaya, Logan, and the current boy dolls from the 18 inch line have no teeth showing. Hopscotch Hill dolls don’t have their teeth showing either as well as all the bitty babies and a few bitty twins
I don't really know how old my Molly doll is. Especially with the body tag. It's plain white, about the same size as one of the '(c) 2008' ones and looks as if it may have been cut off. Her body is a shade lighter than her limbs and her limbs have the stars on them. She has harder vinyl and eyelashes, and she doesn't have the tag in her shoulder. She has the 2000-2002 neck strings so I'm thinking she's from around that time. Any ideas?

Hey, so I was on Ebay trying to find a doll that I could fix up and resell. I have just found a doll that claims to be an old, rare Samantha doll, made in Germany and everything, on bidding for $60. Do you think it's legit? From the pictures there is an obvious white body, however it looks kinda thin to me, not chubbier like I thought the older ones were. Her face looks very different than the modern dolls to me, and has very long, white, woven neck strings like the older dolls (also it does not have a tag on the side of the body). The Pleasant Company logo on the back of the neck is extremely unique, written in all caps and almost looking handwritten (but the pic is a bit blurry so probably not). There is a small blue mark near the butt, if you will, portion of the torso that could possibly be an X. Does that lower the credibility/price of the doll? I read about it on another website but idk if it affects the price or not. I don't know if the limbs are 'squishy' or not, and I might ask the seller but there's only a few days left on it. If the only bid on the doll is $60, do you think ppl know it's not rare and therefore aren't bidding, or do you think ppl just don't know about it? I would include the ebay link but forgive me if I kind of want to not draw too much attention to it :) Sorry for the long message but please respond if you can as she will only be available for a few more days!

My Molly’s strings have been cut, she has pleasant company stamp, and a tan body. Yours might be from that time.

Hey, so I was on Ebay trying to find a doll that I could fix up and resell.
I have just found a doll that claims to be an old, rare Samantha doll, made in Germany and everything, on bidding for $60. Do you think it's legit? From the pictures there is an obvious white body, however it looks kinda thin to me, not chubbier like I thought the older ones were. Her face looks very different than the modern dolls to me, and has very long, white, woven neck strings like the older dolls (also it does not have a tag on the side of the body). The Pleasant Company logo on the back of the neck is extremely unique, written in all caps and almost looking handwritten (but the pic is a bit blurry so probably not). There is a small blue mark near the butt, if you will, portion of the torso that could possibly be an X. Does that lower the credibility/price of the doll? I read about it on another website but idk if it affects the price or not. I don't know if the limbs are 'squishy' or not, and I might ask the seller but there's only a few days left on it. If the only bid on the doll is $60, do you think ppl know it's not rare and therefore aren't bidding, or do you think ppl just don't know about it? I would include the ebay link but forgive me if I kind of want to not draw too much attention to it :)

Also it seems that Samantha dolls, in general, are much cheaper on Ebay than the other original dolls. Do you know any possible reason for this? Sorry for asking so many questions :)

So I have an old American girl doll that I have no idea who she is :/ could someone here help me identify her? She have medium length, dirty blond hair that is straight. She also has bangs like those of Samantha or Kirsten. She also has light blue eyes. She has no tag, moderately thick neck strings, a pleasant company neck stamp, and a tan body. I would think that she was Kirsten and braids had just been undone, but she has a tan body. Does anyone know who this is?
I have a Kirsten with a tan body, it just means they were made after the white body era

You either got her used, or she was made another year and released a different year.
I know my doll is pleasant co. because the seller said she was from 1994.
This helped I found out my molly is from the early 90s and my josaphina (idk how to spell the name) is from 2000-2008

If the doll was previously owned by someone else they may have replaced the neck string
The owner replaced her neck strings, or if she was sent to the doll hospital, they replaced her head with an older head.
