This is the best, most open review of a Jackery I've ever seen. I'm sure Jackery will get some sales off the review. Love your failed efforts to flatten it.
Haha thanks love, I just don’t have high enough powered equipment to flatten it full in one go - I thought my bike would do it but NO 😂😂 My fridge, tv etc are all hard wired to my 12v system so I couldn’t test them. But it’s been fabulous for all my gadgets and just using it for them, i can easily go about 6 days before it hits 20% and then I just charge it when I next cruise 😃😃 I’m loving it 😃
I love your music. Absolutely correct about the need for a remote, portable, solid-state battery ... it's not about running an engine, when you can't! And not wanting to drain the boat batteries and so not being able to start the boat's engines the next morning. And the convenience of being able to bring the Jackery with you off the boat and run electric equipment remotely off the boat. I have a 150 watt portable Goal Zero battery that is horrid, it doesn't hold a charge even for 3-4 days even when I'm not using it. I also have a 1000 watt Jackery that is exceptional. I use it in my caravan/travel trailer. It sits over the winter for five months and STILL has a full charge when I check it in the spring. I also have solar on top of my trailer/caravan and a remote solar panel plugged into the trailer as well that powers up the trailer batteries and the Jackery (if needed) every day. I will likely be dumping that 150-watt unit in the nearest recycle dump. Ah, also! That 1000 watt Jackery will run my huge, full-sized, refrigerator/freezer at home during any winter power outage here in northern USA for up to six hours. Buy Jackery! I love your music. 🙂
Aww thanks Ann, I’ve recently got the 1000 too and I absolutely love it … it means I’m not using my boat batteries in the evenings now for laptop use etc so not having to run my engine every day and saving myself lots of diesel 😃🏴☠️❤️
It's 2024 and im watching this review with regard of buying a new Jackery Explorer. Thanks, this is by far the very best review I have ever seen, and I love the way you included the essential charging stages & times, and the use of your equipment. I now have the confidence to invest in one of their complete systems.
I envy your lifestyle. After ten years living aboard (replica Dutch Barge, followed by 60ft narrowboat), I had to move back ashore after increasing disability made the boaters' life too hazardous for me. I purchased a 240 last year and found it useful as an artisan woodcrafter and trader. The Jackory 240 was definitely a smart move on my part, I just wish I'd had one for the narrowboat, it would have saved much angst at times.
Can you use domestic appliances with the Jackery 240? Tried my blender and it just revolved slowly a few times then just stopped but works fine on mains electric...
What a great idea I use power bank batteries for phones etc but solar is great. You could get pudding a little electric blanket for the roof under his ring when out cruising xx

Hello Heidi - greetings from Poland So many of your fellow TH-camrs have a Jackery. It must be one of the best power stations on the market and so easy to recharge using a solar panel. So pleased you like it. Failing to flatten it is a great success! The best open review of a Jackery I've seen for a very long time.
We did a canal trip as kids, magical apart from when you leave your glasses on a lock. Definitely something to do with my grandkids next time we are in blighty

Just had to say, as soon as I heard your engine running I knew it was a Lister. Unmistakable sound and RPM, this coming from someone across the pond, who was a first Mate on a fishing vessel that use the same engine for charging the batteries and running the lights aboard, when the main diesel engine was shut down. Great engines.
@@TheNarrowboatPirate There was an engine named Lister, who i loved at times I kissed'r, when she made me mad tho, at Times I;d fist her, I wasnt rude.... LOL :)
I love my Jackery but wish I had bought a 500W instead. But it works and hasn't let me down so far with camping. I would say it is costly if you are paying for it yourself and I think they are somewhat over priced for the smaller ones. Also one of my little green light indicators just randomly stopped glowing but power still circulating. Your review is spot on.
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Im so exited to get one tomorrow. I dont have that great 'ship' you have but its someting everybody needs in the difficult time right now. Is it still working oke?
@@floorluna yes, I absolutely love it … I live off grid and charge it via solar or when cruising and then have my iPad, laptop etc running all night long no problems … I may make a future video on it after one year of use but it’s been perfect for me … I only have the 200 watt one which is perfect for my stuff but they do bigger ones too depending on what you need to run - my mate has the massive one for hair straighteners etc but I don’t need that 😂😂
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Love it and envy you live this enormous free live with nature and all. I would do anything to live like this. Thank you for responding to me.
I’ve not seen one of those to be honest … but I’m really loving my jackery … I don’t know how I coped without it 😂 it means my boat batteries are left to run the fridge and lights etc and all my fun stuff is on the jackery 😃😃
All of the devices you're using consume very little electricity and the Jackery 240 is good for all that. However, I'd go with the 300 model as it provides that extra bit of juice for those pesky situations during staying off-grid. Plus the 300 can also power some fridgers and microwaves for essential use. Cheers.
I totaled up everything I would need to run and found that a 240 would do the job. BUT, I also realized that technology is increasing so I kicked up to purchase the Jackery-340 to cover all current needs PLUS anything in the future. Plus the added power would handle those cloudy days when I cannot recharge the Jackery of the solar panels.
Oooh! Two things I’ve been thinking about for my boat! 1. The Jackery with solar panel - and which size 2. The swytch kit for my Brompton (well, my Mums Brompton which I’m ‘borrowing’)! Brilliant! Thank-you for the great honest review. I’d love to hear how you find the swytch kit as a C.Cer?
Oh Deb, I couldn’t cope without the swytch kit, I absolutely love it, just charge it up every time you have used it … I usually do it when cruising … it did take months to arrive though … and the jackery is awesome, I don’t know how I coped without it especially now during winter 😃😃
Im eyeing up these atm, plus they are all on offer atm. I'm not sure whether to get the 240 or the 500. The 240 standalone is on for 155 but 400 with the solar panels. And 550 for the 500 with the solar panels. Some great deals.
Brilliant review, only thing I can think to say, is when charging/powering a dc device (such as your electric bike battery) you could bypass the devices transformer to charge/power the device more efficiently. That'll need you to buy a specific cable that might have a dc voltage stepper.
I bought a small solar kit a few years ago. Its an emergency back up to charge phones and came with some back up, LED lights. I think they are a great idea. Just a thought, maybe have some 12v, LED lights in case you have a battery provlem.
Ahoy Simon, because this has a mains socket I just plug in a normal lamp - I’ve also been running a fan off it constantly while it’s so hot here at the moment 🏴☠️😄
I’ve recently bought the 1000 … the 240 is still going strong but having the bigger one now means I can power bigger stuff inc my filter coffee machine and I only charge it once a week now when cruising as I’m not getting much solar this time of year … love it 😃🏴☠️
I love it …. As I work from my boat off grid all year it means I can be on my laptop until 2am every night for days no problem without having to put my boat inverter on … I like to keep the boat batteries for running the lights, pumps, fridge etc and then use the jackery for my laptop, printers etc it just saves on diesel putting my engine on all the time 😃🏴☠️
Wow this looks like something I need for my boat! May I ask, is the 1000 as portable as the one in this vid, or is it noticeably heavier to lug around? Thanks for the useful review, love your channel@@TheNarrowboatPirate
Woaw been seeing these alot, would love to try one, what a great review, very easy to watch, you have super cute dog too, how long does he take to charge?? haha, good luck on your adventure :)
Thanks for watching guys - with it being lithium I just charge it when I cruise if it needs it or use the solar panel when sat outside but it can go 5 days with just using it on iPads and phones all night long it’s fabulous 😃😃 from 40% ish back to 100% takes about 3hrs
Heidi, after some searching I cannot find a source of your music. It's probably a typically simple thing I have missed but I do enjoy the somewhat ethereal sounds. Where can I buy it? Thanks.

Thanks for this review. I was wondering why my 240 jackery won't work for domestic appliances like my bullet blender? I tried it on my new jackery but It just does a few revolutions then slows down to a stop in seconds even when jackery fully charged and will not work for more than a few seconds before stopping again.
How many watts is your blender ?? And what size jackery have you got ?? I have both the 240 watt and 1000 watt jackery … you won’t be able to run anything more that 240 watts on the 240 for example

Just bought mesen an explorer 240 and solar panel, should be delivered tomorrow, can’t wait
Awww fab Shane … I absolutely love mine 😄🏴☠️
Just had to say, as soon as I heard your engine running I knew it was a Lister. Unmistakable sound and RPM, this coming from someone across the pond, who was a first Mate on a fishing vessel that use the same engine for charging the batteries and running the lights aboard, when the main diesel engine was shut down. Great engines.
Ahoy, thank you and yes Listers are fabulous engines but very noisy 😂😂
@@TheNarrowboatPirate There was an engine named Lister, who i loved at times I kissed'r, when she made me mad tho, at Times I;d fist her, I wasnt rude.... LOL :)
I love your videos make me laugh
Thank you 😄🏴☠️
I love my Jackery but wish I had bought a 500W instead. But it works and hasn't let me down so far with camping. I would say it is costly if you are paying for it yourself and I think they are somewhat over priced for the smaller ones. Also one of my little green light indicators just randomly stopped glowing but power still circulating. Your review is spot on.
Aww thank you, I have since upgraded to the 1000 - I love them both 😃🏴☠️
The 300 is much better, just have to wait for it to be released here in the uk 🇬🇧
This one is fab for all my needs at the moment - it runs everything I need, I bloody love it 😄🏴☠️
I watch Jim and Ted Baird on their channels, they use these and love them!!
Oh I’m loving mine haha 😄😄
I just bough one thank you!
Awww I hope you love it … I made this video almost a year ago now and still use my jackery every night - I love it 😃🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Im so exited to get one tomorrow.
@@floorluna aww bless you and thank you for taking the time to comment … I really hope you enjoy the Jackery 😃🏴☠️
Great 👍
Ello luv from Texas
Ahoy 😀
Do you ever concider a powerbank like yeti-powerbank. A Lot of-grid people ude those. Love the way you put this one through it's paces.💪
I’ve not seen one of those to be honest … but I’m really loving my jackery … I don’t know how I coped without it 😂 it means my boat batteries are left to run the fridge and lights etc and all my fun stuff is on the jackery 😃😃
That was fodder for thought. I want to take my house off grid. Looking foreward to the one year rewiev
All of the devices you're using consume very little electricity and the Jackery 240 is good for all that. However, I'd go with the 300 model as it provides that extra bit of juice for those pesky situations during staying off-grid. Plus the 300 can also power some fridgers and microwaves for essential use. Cheers.
Hi, Heidi, great review, great video. But I have to ask, did it charge up puddun a bit. ‼😉😁🤝 colin and Heather,Ohio
😂😂😂 nothing charges Puddin up unless it’s food 😂
Really enjoyed your video. Wondering if you are still using it or upgraded?
Yes but I’ve also got the 1000 now it’s brilliant as technology is changing and improving all the time
I totaled up everything I would need to run and found that a 240 would do the job.
BUT, I also realized that technology is increasing so I kicked up to purchase the Jackery-340 to cover all current needs PLUS anything in the future.
Plus the added power would handle those cloudy days when I cannot recharge the Jackery of the solar panels.
Fabulous, I’ve recently got a 1000 which means I can go a few days without charge … winter is always the hardest living offgrid 😃
Oooh!
Two things I’ve been thinking about for my boat!
1. The Jackery with solar panel - and which size
Danke!
Thank you 😃🏴☠️
Im eyeing up these atm, plus they are all on offer atm. I'm not sure whether to get the 240 or the 500. The 240 standalone is on for 155 but 400 with the solar panels. And 550 for the 500 with the solar panels. Some great deals.
Go for the biggest 😃🏴☠️
Brilliant review, only thing I can think to say, is when charging/powering a dc device (such as your electric bike battery) you could bypass the devices transformer to charge/power the device more efficiently.
That'll need you to buy a specific cable that might have a dc voltage stepper.
Ahh I wouldn’t want to mess with all the electronics to be honest as it works perfect .. I would end up blowing up my swytch kit 😂😂
Awesome, can you use kettle and toasters on this?
It’s only 240 watt so it depends what wattage they are … you can get bigger ones though 1000 watts etc
Thanks for this excellent review, just wondering what it is like now as it's a year on from your video?
I’ve recently bought the 1000 … the 240 is still going strong but having the bigger one now means I can power bigger stuff inc my filter coffee machine and I only charge it once a week now when cruising as I’m not getting much solar this time of year … love it 😃🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Thanks for your reply. It was actually the 1000 I was looking at for my van. Really appreciate your advice. Thanks
Seriously considering getting mesen a jackory and panel for on my boat
It’s fantastic … I use mine every day 😃 I charge it when cruising or running the engine and then use it all night 😃🏴☠️
Awesome Video! I think it will be better to charge the Electric Bike battery as well as the solar plug on, if possible. Thank you for the nice review
Thank you 😄🏴☠️ yes I always do, but I wanted to test if it could do it and it worked perfectly 😄🏴☠️
@@TheNarrowboatPirate Nice one!😄
Heidi, after some searching I cannot find a source of your music. It's probably a typically simple thing I have missed but I do enjoy the somewhat ethereal sounds. Where can I buy it? Thanks.
Ahoy, yes it’s mentioned in a few vlogs but some of it is on iTunes, TH-cam music and Amazon it just takes them ages to approve etc 😃🏴☠️
Can it charge an external, with the solar panel plugged in at the same time, and keep the jackery power level basically the same? Nice playing!
Yes of course ..… it’s been a while since I made this video, but I still use my jackery every day and I’m loving it 😃🏴☠️
Emma ( Narrowboat Girl ) did a review on this some months back and loved it
Oh did she, I’ll try to find it as I love her videos 😃 yes it’s a fab bit of kit as it makes everything a lot easier especially as i got it for free 😂
@@TheNarrowboatPirate
Can I borrow it ,our inverter has gone on strike 😂😂
Keep up the good work 😀👍
@@TheNarrowboatPirate
Oh no! What a time to find out there are two of me….us!
Question is, am I Dr Jekyll or the one with a bad press? Dr Frankenstein or the one with bolt-related neck issues?
Or, given the way my luck seems to be going at present, the one that needs a mega waxing and a collar when the full moon comes out…….
Great review, it might just be a handy thing to have in the home.
Aww thanks for watching Rowena 😃😃🏴☠️
Great video
Do you think you can charge a 50w battery ?
It’s a 200 watt jackery so should be able to no probs 😃 it charged my electric bike fine 😃😃
Who doesn’t like a bit of jackery from time to time?
I love mine 😄🏴☠️ use it every day
Hi just wondering how the jackery is holding up? I have just bought the same model for my bout.
I use it every day 😄 I just wish I had got the bigger one now 😂😂
Thanks for this review.
