i know the florey so well, the bit in the picture, i would climb a fence and sit there admiring it, i became a bit obsessed tbf i understand, that, because it's grade II * listed they (the college) have a duty of care to it, i raised this with the national trust or someone and just heard back, i think they said they would look in to it, it is an incredible monster of a building but as i say, its sadly falling apart.
a fountain wouldn't work on the roof of the basement either, as the basement isn't underground, the floor is like a ramp so, on that elevaton of the plot, the ground level is lower, also the roof of it is dome shaped, it's not there, never has been and would cause terrible flood if it was there and broke! i may be wrong but i studied this heavily and been all around it countless times.
