Yes, there are some facts that Canelo fans like to gloss over such as the fact that he wisely waited until Benavidez was stripped for not making weight against Angulo and then a couple of months later, fought Callum Smith to scoop up the WBC title at 168. He essentially did the same thing with regard to fighting his WBA mandatory, Edgar Berlanga, only after the tougher opponent, Morrell had moved up in weight to 175. He's a great boxer, but is overrated, especially when you consider that the WBC hasn't always allowed unification bouts, meaning that not all the boxers of the past had the opportunity to become the "undisputed unified champion, blah, blah, blah."
@armand4116 Benavidez is currently the WBC interim titleholder which is supposed to have a mandatory title shot but the biased WBC has yet to order the fight, which it could do anytime it wants and strip whichever fighter refuses, either Canelo of his title or Benavidez of his interim title. Benavidez missed weight by less than 3 pounds during the pandemic when everything was closed including most gyms. Regardless it's irrelevant because Benavidez worked his way back to the #2 slot as interim titleholder.
Canelo has done a lot of great things but he doesn't have the best resume of this era, Usyk currently is number one, Inoue and Bud have also got arguably better legacies so far. Who is Canelo going to fight next?

Callum Smith was a much more palatable opponent than Benavidez, and he continues to avoid him to this very day.
