This Barfukan was an Ahom, of Chinese origin. Before him the Bengali Hindu King of Pragyotish ( the name of that area before it was occupied by the Ahoms and other tribes from China who named it as Assam), Prithudev defended his kingdom against the Turkish invader Baktier Kihilji.

..please don't mine but correct your history .....Bengali community culture and language was never and ever a part of this land .... Although there are many Dravidian groups in this land but they were not Bengali they used Assamese as their language from the ancient time....the king about whom you are mentioning was not a Bengali...maharaj prithu belongs to Khen Dynasty and the court language of this dynasty was Assamese..... please study the history of Assam properly....the ancient tribe of this Assam land was Kirat people those who are also known as Mlechas they were Mongoloid people thus,Mongoloid people are resding in this land since ancient time before the arrival of Aryans and Dravadians....and Ahoms those who came to Assam in the 12 century they were the people who assimilated with the common people of Assam they adapt the local culture,customs,they adapt Hinduism, they made many temples they gave impetus for the development of Assamese language....chiftains of local tribes had accepted them as their authority...in later period all the people of Assam had accepted their authority moreover Ahoms had a lot of contribution for this land Assam in different field every Assamese accept it....theu were not Invadors like Mughals .So honourable sir no body has given you licence to insult our Assamese warriors and misinterpreting our history by calling the ancient kings of Kamrupa and pragyotish as Bengali king...during that period of time Bengal was known as Gauda...which was totally seperated from Kamrup .......Sir, atlast my request please follow some historical books written by Dr SK Bhuyan,Dr Maheswar Neog,Dr Banikanta Kakati....you will come to know about every proper history of Assam. জয় আই অসম।

When you do not even know the correct spelling of Barphukan, why make such lousy false comments? When you have no idea of history of Assam, don't distort our history. Study our history thoroughly before making such "expert" comment.
