I started following your channel a couple of months ago and really love your content. I love how diverse your reading choices are as well as the variety of genres. I love the obvious and abundant joy you find in books which is evident in your content and something I relate a lot with. I love the calming and soothing vibes of your videos as well. Your voice is so soothing and relaxing that it adds to the cosy ambiance. Have a lovely day!
Grendel was so cute when you were doing the yoga. I have a tabby cat and she is very affectionate and into everything! I have her sister, a white cat, who is so quiet and serene. Cats definitely do their own thing! 😻
I'm not sure how much I could read in 24 hours because I never get 24 hours without a hundred things to do, lol. Sounds like such a great way to spend the day. Always love the videos, Emma--just started "Nervous Conditions" for Book Club and find it very intriguing. Have a great week!
The idea of reading for 24 hours straight sounds so much fun, but I also don’t have a day without anything else to do. :,) I usually try to split the readathon into manageable time portions!
You should try do it for 24 hours in a week. Record each time you read until you get there then you’ll have a good idea of how much you can read in that time.
I was just going to say - there's a version of this readathon where you only time yourself while reading until you reach 24 hours - so it could even take you a week if needed. I've never tried it (or any readathons), but if I did, I'd definitely choose this one 😅
Loved this so much. ❤ Fun fact: In economics, there's a concept of Veblen goods named after Thorstein Veblen! Veblen goods are items for which demand inceeases even as the price increases, in contradiction to the normal demand-supply theory. They're also typically high-quality goods that are a status symbol. Veblen goods are generally sought after by affluent consumers. Examples include luxury cars, luxury watch brands, even some sneakers etc!
I haven't read a lot from Junji Ito, but Uzumaki is such a good book. Creepy, intriguing and easy to go through. I highly recommend it, and I'm going to get a copy of Cat Diary. Your videos are so wholesome, thank you.
Hi, Emma, What a perfect way to spend a day with Calcifer and Grendl! I love the idea of a monthly readathon, though I love all of your vlogs and videos, I especially enjoy the ones where you review several books. Thank you again for sharing your beautiful cats with us and please take good care of yourself. Be well. 💕💕
Hi Emma, love your videos as always! I am wondering if you will make an updated version of your physical TBR list. It would be cool to see your progress.❤️
The constant questioning of what you are in the mood for is exactly how I've been feeling for the past month. I want to read so much, but with uni imposing reading material again I have just been starting a million books and evetually just putting them all down... I just wanted to say it is great seeing how much happier you look ever since you got Grendel! As always, love having your videos keeping me company🥰
This is exactly what I needed. I've been so stressed because of my finals and tomorrow I am going to be writing my first paper. (Nervous) but your video is definitely going to help me feel better. Thank you so much.❣️
emma! i know how much you love cats. you will definitely enjoy the witches of olderea series. the second book has more cats, a tabby cat, a black cat, and a witch who could speak to them. its super lovely
I was recommended "The Count of Monte Cristo" by a friend, got it as a Christmas gift a few years back, and it was one of those books that fundamentally changed the way I thought.
Sometimes, you just need a light, entertaining read. And if that means you start another series, then you start another series. No judgement. Sometimes, that's what you need! :)
Hi Emma! Such a fun video, thanks for sharing your thoughts! Actually for Agent of the Four Seasons, the novel is the only media the story is currently in👍🏼 if there is a manga it just has a similar name, but it's not the same author or story
I really liked "A Thousand Steps Into Night" it's very fast and fun! "A Living Soul" looks cool, my next Swedish book is "The Lost Village" by Camilla Sten. My fav Iclandic author is Yrsa Sigurdardottir, she is infreakingcreadible.
Love this series so much! Your range of reading genres inspires me to expand mine! I haven't read the Inheritance Games, but if you're looking for a series with a wonderful mystery, I highly recommend The Blackthorn Key series by Kevin Sands!! It's middle grade, but every single book is full of complicated puzzles and riddles and clues that are constantly entertaining and intelligent. All three main characters are wonderful and very developed, and the plot twists are crazy! It's about an apothecary's apprentice and it's set in the 1600s in England. My mom read every single one aloud to me and my brother over the past few years :) Adore your videos, they bring me so much calm when my life is stressful
It’s the Canada Reads competition next week!! My favourite event 🤓 do you follow it? I’ve only read one of the books this year, I usually read them all before the debates so I don’t know who will win! Love the cats, reading with my fluffy tuxedo right now 🐈⬛
Hey Emma, thanks for the video! I really want to do a readathon myself, I just got a big book haul over the holidays. Have you ever done a "date with a book"? (you buy a pre packaged book with very little information of what's inside) it might be cool to do one and try to sit down and read it within a day 🤔
I've done 'date with books' thing...was not aware with this term though 😅😊 good to know Getting a book haul of random choices really excited me and it was a good feeling overall to experience different genres of unknown choices
Is here a better feeling than browsing your own shelves and seeing what jumps out at you? ❤ Two shorter works I'd recommend to you. Like Death by Guy de Maupassant, a student of Flaubert, and very much in the vein of Madame Bovary or Anna Karenina. Also, All the Horses of Iceland by Sarah Tolmie.
Yea, I'll probably still give Seasons a go. Also, some of your issues may be translation problems because sadly professional translation companies do mess things up sometimes.
I'm not sure if one piece is for you because of the amount of worldbuilding and just information in general but I think you would love at least the first 400 chapters so much! Its so sweet and you will laugh SO MUCH. I swear, there hasnt been a book ive ever laughed or/and cried as much as this one. If you reach saga in chapter 400 you will cry for 3 days straight, be abscessed with it and just love it with all your heart so... I think you would like it
Hey Emma! I love those blue classics, they're so pretty. Can I please know where you got them from? I saw "The ice palace" from that set and I want to read it so might as well get the all books if it's a set right?😂 (If anybody else knows the name of it and where I can get it, please feel free to tell me :) )
they’re penguin modern classics! At least in my country you can get them/order them at every bookstore, they’re quite popular. They’re not really a set, just a specific edition of books. So you can definitely buy multiple and they’ll match, but they’re not really connected by author or genre, other than being considered modern classics. I’m pretty sure there’s at least over a hundred though!
@@Divyyyaaaayou can buy them individually. I’m not sure where you live, but I live in the US and I (if I want to buy them new) usually have to get them from international booksellers. I recommend Blackwells as a UK bookseller. They have reasonable prices and free shipping to the US (and maybe other countries as well). There’s also Waterstones, but their international shipping is killer.
Yes, I think I know what you mean when you describe yourself as being strangely interested in reading Veblen. Maybe a lot of us in BookTube feel guilty about having too little non-fiction in our diets? And also I agree about there being plenty of time eventually to get (back) to Nietzsche, who I think was just a nut - but that's my problem, right? Anyway, it's very nice to see you again and I'm looking forward to the GoT show on the Count.
the four seasons book is giving me guardian by priest, it is so choppy and confusing to me and i didn’t like it. there are also references that i didn’t feel were explained enough because it is translated from another language. it made me sad to not like it🥺

Finished monte cristo last month (loved it) and decided to dive headfirst into war and peace. Wish me luck lmao
Oh my god good luck!!! You’re gonna love it!!

This is genuinely my favorite channel on youtube. Thanks Emma for introducing and inspiring me to read so many different genres of books ❤
The cat yoga was ADORABLE.
Grendel is too cute. I’m glad you’re sticking with the name, it seems to fit him well. I still haven’t done a 24 hour readathon, it looks so fun 😊
Hi, Emma,
What a perfect way to spend a day with Calcifer and Grendl! I love the idea of a monthly readathon, though I love all of your vlogs and videos, I especially enjoy the ones where you review several books.

so glad you could make it

wishing you all the luck and good things
OMG, so excited about binge watching this channel after binge reading A LOT after a LOT of college exams 😍 (love the cats )
These readathons are so much fun. I had loved Yon & Mu and was glad to see you laugh out loud. Have a great week! 🐈⬛🐈
Yeeessss, I love these ahahah
Also, this video is clearly a sign to change my shelf arrangement

Ce serait génial que tu fasses une vidéo "my good dates as Book recs" !
Tes vidéos me font toujours sourire et m'inspirent, merci pour ça ! ❤️
I love that hairstyle you had on at the beginning! It's beautiful on you!!❤❤
I was recommended "The Count of Monte Cristo" by a friend, got it as a Christmas gift a few years back, and it was one of those books that fundamentally changed the way I thought.
You inspire me to read thank you sooo much❤
You are so so welcome, I'm so glad!
i love the 24hrs readathon too!!! getting them once a month sounds too good to be true 😩😩😩
Calcifer and Grendel remain the cutest (with the exception of my cat, of course).
so so happy to hear from you queen ily
I’ve been meaning to read conspicuously consumption so I was glad to see it in this vlog!
Brilliant, I'm in a bit of a slump at the moment so I could definitely use the motivation 😅

YAY A NEW VIDEO
I said the same thing when this video popped up on my phone. One of the best parts of a day when an "emmie reads" video appears! 😊

Just started reading Middlemarch to keep up with the Game of Tomes schedule. The Count of Monte Cristo was a 5⭐ for suuuuure ❤

I havent read cat diary yet but junji ito is so great, you should definitely read uzumaki next for something longer.

Grendel Yoga was so stinkin adorable!
Seeing your two cats playing while reading a cat manga was just too perfect 👌🏻
I’m not sure how or why i wasnt getting notifications. But I have a wonderful amount of binging to do 😅
This is the second day in a row that I've gotten a readathon video from someone... Was there a list of readathon going on that I just missed lmao 😂😂😂
I’m so glad you have two sweet baby heathen children now because it means double the cat content 🫶
Uzumake by Junji Ito was my first of his works- and I loved it!!
I definitely recommend Uzumaki by Junji Ito, it made me sooo dizzy (in the best way).
Hey Emma I really enjoyed the video but could you please tell me where you got the grey zip up sweater I’ve been looking for one just like that!
Emma was so beautiful (like she's always, of course) but sooo beautiful in this video!!
One of Junji Ito's other works is a manga adaptation of Frankenstein

i love Junji 😭
Hey Emma, have you read Love In The Time of the Cholera by Garcia Marquez? Love your channel and Calcifer!!!! ❤
I loved so much Of love and other demons! I've read a lot of García Marquez and honestly he doesn' have a bad book. He just doesn't.
Ah I’m thrilled to hear that, I’ll make sure to pick it up next time😅
Did you read the end writing in yon and mu? It's like a update after the manga and it's really sad.
I love how cats see a book and just feel the need to STOMP AND CHOMP
came for the book content, stayed for the cat content 🤩
Our erudite cat mom's literary taste is exceeded only by her soft voice and cute haircut!
Which is the first character in Macbeth?
Yes.
I also talk to my cats about my books😂
Just wondering: What is a five star read for you?
How did your hair grow so much ?? How often do you wash them ? Do you put anything daily (cream, oil) ?
Cat diary is nothing like the rest of Junji Itos stuff - if anyone is scared of his usual, it's a fun way to experience the art.
if you want more cat mangas, i HIGHLY recommend Cat Gamer, for a funny, relaxing and adoorable read!!!
Omg i wrote essays on veblen in my history degree the man basically invented the concept of leisure time.... So interesting
Have you ever heard of Junji Ito's Frankenstein?
I haven't, but I'd like to 😮
It’s really good, I highly recommend
Junji Ito: Artwork. You might like "Twisted Visions". Reading? "No Longer Human".
slay queeeeeen
That small bit of a Conspicuous Consumption that you read made me yawn like ten times 😀
immediately added cat diary to my tbr
yesss it was so fun!
Great stretch do more of it
El conde de Monte Cristo, 😎
I can't sit with a book for an hour straight without doing short breaks or getting distracted. 24h marathon would be a torture for me.
I wanted to try a 24 hour readathon but i cant sit straight doing something all this time , i have to do a million things all the time lol
I predict that you will read at least six books in 24 hours before you start so let’s see how you go ❤❤❤
please check out uzumaki by junji ito
the four seasons book is giving me guardian by priest, it is so choppy and confusing to me and i didn’t like it. there are also references that i didn’t feel were explained enough because it is translated from another language. it made me sad to not like it🥺
The way I screamed when I saw the title of this video😅. I was in a restaurant
I have done that! Shouting "Yay!" aloud in cafes whenever one of Emma's videos appears on my phone. 😄😄
YOU HAVE 2 CATS WTF DID I MISS
Wow. I can't read much past 2-3 hours without taking a break. I get antsy.
Unplanned 24 hour readathon how dare you spoil us
Yep, as soon as i heard "its a satire..." I immediately know that it's going to be boring.😂😂 But the topics itself is really interesting though
yeah dont eat or sell centipede meat
Are you kidding me. Jinju ito? Nope
The bad taste though.
Read quran translation, there u get to know moral stories, accurate history and modern science facts, poetic richness, expressive power and eloquence. The greatest and perfect book to be read in our life.
The yoga! My heart! Oh my gosh, I would spend the entire yoga session laughing if that happened to me. So cute!
