They are taking a broader view of the off-season, waiting for Soto to sign. Then, they try to trade Bellinger. We won't really be able to grade the Boyd signing until we get into the season.

All I'm saying is they are making a 29 million gamble that the 2024 Boyd was a real thing. IF that's the case, that's a ceiling raising signing. Eovaldi is the better pitcher. We know exactly what we're getting with him. Boyd is a mystery. Risk, Mystery= Potential ceiling raiser but also could hurt the floor.

Looking at the tough 2025 schedule through April, Cubs are going to be 5 games below 500 with this roster.
