    The Atheist Experience # 755 Clip.
    Hosted by Matt Dillahunty & Tracie Harris.
    April 1, 2012
    Meet Dale from Queensland, Australia. Dale is . . . well . . . a bit slow. He calls the show with a list of questions for Matt and Tracie. The questions seem to be scripted, and expect a certain answer to move on to the next question. Well you can imagine this worked like a charm on Matt. Not! As soon as Matt's answers go off script it seems Dale's limited mental abilities just fall apart. Matt and Tracie attempt to explain Atheism to Dale, but it doesn't seem to do much good. As it goes from bad to worse, Dale gets a bit wackier by the minute as the talk goes from Big Foot to alien abduction. I almost felt sorry for Dale, but then he would say something completely ignorant making his eventual mental destruction by Matt and Tracie as fun as ever. Enjoy!

    • @nzrbroadcasting1421
      @nzrbroadcasting1421 5 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@mattalli739 mansplaining is something made up. Women do the same thing when talking to both men and women but for men its not okay? It's actually called "talking over someone" women are just naturally more submissive so they allow it to happen to themselves more often. Men are more likely to oppose this.

    • @nzrbroadcasting1421
      @nzrbroadcasting1421 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jacob Carlson no its natural. Its the estrogen. Estrogen makes you more submissive, emotional and less confrontational where as testosterone makes you more aggresive, competitive and dominating. These are not the main focus of these hormones of course but simply side affects. You can see it especially well with people who take steroids or estrogen supplements.

    • @nzrbroadcasting1421
      @nzrbroadcasting1421 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      @Jacob Carlson there's nothing "worse". Women are more submissive. We see the same thing in most animal species. Nothing bad. And teaching women to be women isn't bad. They're being taught how to be a wife or a mother. Nothing bad about that. I was taught from a young age that i should aspire to be a successful business man and that men are strong and MUST be so. And now that I'm older i agree completely with that. Don't see anyone advocating for boys upbringing. Know why? Because when we grow older we realise it's a good thing. Should children be taught to make thier own choices? Yes but they should also be taught what it means to be a man or a women. For men i believe that means ambition and the strength to handle whatever happens rationally and with as little emotion as needed. It's a women duty to be the emotional lynchpin.

      Eugene Koshanof it seems strange, that there are many people who would claim to be endowed with the spirit of god, and yet they declare vastly different "thruths".
      Maybe you would suggest that many of them are simply wrong about being truly endowed with that spirit... fine. But the next question is: if that's true, how do you distinguish between the divine and the delusional? And how is that distinction not "your own idea"?

    • @JohnMorris-ge6hq
      @JohnMorris-ge6hq 5 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      Not funny. I rode the little ass bus for three years being bused to Special Education class from 1978 - 1981.
      And you have no idea what goes on inside the short bus!
      It was madness: The Diagnostic Kids would either moan to themselves, make some strange noise, or all of the above while bouncing their upper body up and down endlessly. The troubled kids would pull the hair out of the younger kids from behind. One time I witnessed a teen girl who refused to leave the bus at her destination. Her teacher made this threat: "If I have to I will drag you from this bus kicking and screaming.."
      And them some of the older kids would making out in the back seat. The contest was who could kiss the longest. I believe there is a name for this early pre-teen game.
      The bus had a huge catch area. As a result you could spend an hour to three hours on that bus depending on the weather. And back in the 70's school bus drivers could hit the kids. Pick them up by the coat collar, drag them by the scruff of their neck and hull them in front of their Mother. It happened to me for not answering the driver. Oh yea and the kids that start yelling for no reason. Real fun.
      Vandenberg Public School had three Special Education classes:
      1. THE DIAGNOSTICS
      It was called that because they didn't know what was wrong with the kids. 5 - 7 year olds. The class had two teachers.
      For example: One girl had both of her arms wrapped in medical bandages. Why? She keep biting into her flesh until her arms would be covered in blood. This cute 6 year old kept repeating, "I hate myself." This is a lot of anger internalized. Probably sexually abused as a toddler or worse. Not funny!
      2. THE SLOW LEARNERS
      (Not kidding. That was name on the door of the class.)
      7 - 9 year olds.
      Borderline retarded.
      3. SPECIAL PERCEPTUAL
      (This an actual Learning Disability)
      9 - 12 year olds.
      A small class of only 8 students. Here you will get one on one attention. When I got there my reading and writing skills were two years behind. I couldn't tie my shoes until I was eight. Not funny!
      I could write a successful HBO show on what happened on the little ass bus and in those classrooms. You wouldn't believe some of the stuff if I told you.
      But yes....THE CALLER DEFINITELY RODE THE SHORT BUS TO SCHOOL.
      Drop the Lower class Aussie accent and he could have beem in the Slow Learners Class. They talked wierd and stupid just like the caller.
      You know despite having spent three long years in Special Perpetual Class I was placed a year behind in Grade 6. Right after Grade 3 I went straight to Special Ed. Should have gone into Grade 7. But if i had I would have been put straight into the Special Education classes of some Public Junior High school. And from there - a Vocational High School. And in Ontario back then Vocational schools had a bad reputation for drugs and gangs. I wasn't good with my hands anyway.
      Luckily my Mother put me into Catholic school. There I could keep up and be in a normal class with normal kids.

      What's really shocking, and why Dale is a great example of many of the more indoctrinated theists around the world, is that at no point did the idea "I might be wrong" cross his mind. From start to finish, even when Matt and Tracie answer every question and refute every fallacy, as well as flexing their intellectual muscles, Dale remains unperturbed regarding his faith.
      Debating and discussing topics with many theists online, I've seen this kind of thing quite a lot. You can answer everything they ask you, and provide evidence for every concept they don't believe is true, and their world view just won't budge. AntiCitizenX has a great playlist on the psychology of belief, which shows just how many psychological walls need to be broken down before someone in Dale's position can start to escape from indoctrination.

      you are precisely the sort of gullible gobshite that put us in this spot - gobbled gown Murdoch's bullshit and yelled more please sir!
      Labor left office with very close to the lowest dept per capita and the strongest economy in the western world, we were in an incredibly good position coming out of a global recession - this is a matter of historical record, an undeniable categorical fact.
      And Abbot and hockey went and pissed it up against a wall after manufacturing a myth of a budget crisis, and then running up a bigger deficit in their budget than any the labor govt had, while simultaneously making us suffer as though they were running austerity measures - instead subsidizing the profits of the mega rich and breaking just about every election promise they made to the people of Australia to take care of us!
      Again - all of this is a matter of historical record - it happened, it isnt a matter of opinion.

    The Aussie shows without a doubt why "debating' with a religious person of any cloth is a complete waste of time. Once reason is compromised by faith and lost to myth and superstition, there is no path forward until that person wants it. Proof of this is the Aussies apparent attitude that he somehow won the "debate" when it's painfully obvious he doesn't even understand the logic presented to him. I found this scenario over and over again in my own life. I avoid any attempt by the righteous to engage me now. After decades of debating science in general and evolution in specific, I just don't think I could suffer one more "debate" that begins with, "So, you believe we come from monkeys?"

    "How come bigfoot is on 'Unsolved Mystery'?"
    It's strangely reassuring to discover that other countries have many cretins as well.

    The Australian guy sounded like a slightly camp Ray Comfort yet still made more sense than old Banana Man himself.

    Speaking as a trainer/instructor in the building industry in Australia. This man is no surprise to me, this is what the school system sent me for 40 years. That's why I quit!!! Just an example: I was instructing a young apprentice on the importance of sunscreen @ he informed me that it was a waste of time because "That sunlight has taken a million years to get here and it can't hurt you".

    Oh my goodness Matt brought up Alien abductions.
    When I was still performing mentalism and hypnosis I had a call from a person who wanted to have a hypnotic regression (which I find bollocks to start with) to the age of 10 as to see he was abducted by aliens.
    I denied this service because I explained that he tainted me with the whole alien thing and that he obviously believes he was abducted so that everything I would suggest would pre-suppose alien visitation and the fact that you already believe you were abducted you will create your own false memories.
    Before he hung up he said in an irritated voice: "If you don't want to help be find the truth I will find a hypnotist who does."
    I thought: "How the hell am I helping you be reaffirming a false memory? And even if regression would work (which is highly doubtful) and he come up completely empty or with the idea it were just nightmares, he'd not believe the outcome anyways because he was firm in his believe he had been abducted."
