- In the City of Utrecht in the Netherlands is the shortest and weirdest official train route of the NS network. It runs between Utrecht Central Station to Utrecht Maliebaan at the Spoorweg Museum (RailTrack Museum). It's a 15 min ride strait through the old city of Utrecht and even has to stop midway trough the journey and travel in the opposite direction.
Join me as I take this train from the Spoorweg Museum back to Utrecht Central Station.

Fun fact Maliebaan has been used last year as a replacement station when the trains on the main line could not go to Central station
That must have been hell. There's is only 1 platform available and 1 track going in/out of the station.
not really because it only happend for one direction (utrecht to Amersfoort) and it was on a weekend @@cheapworldtraveller
it's crazy theat there's even the space for such an inefficient line
The tracks remain in place anyway in case the museum needs to move any of its pieces in and out, or bring in new collections; using them for a regular service as well, is not a heavy burden.
You can use a bus, but I guess since the track is there already it is easier for tourist comming outside of Utrecht to take the train to the museum. It was pretty full when I took the train in the morning to the museum.
