Sasuke's decision is pretty simplistic. Itachi made one mistake in his mission and it was letting Sasuke live because his life was more precious than the village. Well Sassuke doesn't care about the peace of the village because they made Itachi do what he did and caused him to kill Itachi kinda and Itachi's life is more precious than the peace of the village.
I'd leave the innocent villagers out of it and just slaughter the advisors and all the people who actually condoned the uchiha massacre. But ig sasuke can't be blamed cuz that was an epic mind fuck that'd mess anyone up mentally

It’s even simpler than that. Sasuke has always wanted revenge against whatever ruined his life. He thought it was just Itachi all his life. Now he’s learned the truth and views the village as the thing that ruined his life and wants to destroy it.
For me itachi's death was the saddest one in the whole series, he lived almost his entire life called a traitor and everything he did was to protect his younger brother
To be honest, talking about the death itself, the saddest for me is Jiraiya’s: the guy was thinking his whole life was worthless when he was dying, and his only wish was for him to DIE as any or each of the Hokage. My second place would be (SPOILERS) the couple who died while protecting both his village and his new born children from the nine tails. Although, I’ll think it better to answer if Itachi is or isn’t the best character of the series 🤔
If Itachi didn't take the blame for killing the whole clan, then the village would have to explain why the whole clan was annihilated. They would have to disclose the information that the Uchihas possibly were behind the Nine Tailed Fox's attack on village. Don't forget how Naruto and Gaara were hated just for being Jinchuuriki of the tailed beasts, and it wasn't even by their choice. If people were to find out that there are people who could control the beasts, and there is a whole clan of them they would start hunting Uchihas to get the Sharingan. There would be more people like Orochimaru or those, who look for Bijuu to make their own village and land stronger, preying on Uchiha clan members. And as Sasuke was the only survivor people would be after him. Of course they could've hidden the information about tailed beasts being controlled by Sharingan, and the whole clan single handedly being annihilated by one of the Uchiha members, but who would believe that there are ninjas strong enough to kill a whole clan who possessed Sharingan. Even the Senju clan had to make a peace agreement because there was no point in fighting against Uchihas. There just would be more people dying.

Sasuke proclaiming he will destroy the Hidden Leaf was the exact reason Itachi didn't want him to learn the truth. He knew Sasuke will be overcome by vengeance and rage towards the village.
Subtitles kinda missed what Itachi said before dying “sorry, Sasuke, but there won’t be another time” as he always promised to do something “next time”
Itachi being "good" was heavily foreshadowed : When Itachi visited Konoha in OG Naruto, he didn't kill Kakashi even though he could have easily as stated by Kakashi himself. Even Kakashi was shocked that why Itachi didnt kill him. Later in shippuden we found out that he was there only to warn Danzo for Sasuke's sake. He was also able to find Naruto and could have easily captured him if he wanted to. Jiraiya was not a problem for Itachi as we already knew Itachi massively scales above sannin level stated by Orochimaru himself. If itachi wanted to, he could have defeated Jiraiya using genjutsu and captured Naruto but he didn't. The reason for that is Jiraiya was drunk and off guard against itachi and even made an eye contact with Itachi and Kisame. Itachi could have easily used Tsukuyomi and defeated Jiraiya without even engaging with him in an all out battle. Also in Sasuke's flashback, Itachi stated that he will be always there for Sasuke no matter what, which was also a hint many people ignored. Later in Shippuden, Itachi smiled when Naruto told him that he thinks of Sasuke as a brother.

Itachi is basically like Zeke in AOT. He realizes the Uchiha and Leaf can't coexist so he believes it's best for the Uchiha to disappear since their are "less" people, just like Zeke with the eldians.
Woooo....that's exactly what I was thinking bro... Until S3 part 2 everyone hated Zeke .....even until ep 14 ... But after ep 15 when we got to see the backstory from Zeke's perspective...everything changed for the audience
For me Itachi is one of the most Unique characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just an ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️

Itachi officially made his first appearance after the death of the Third Hokage,Hiruzen Sarutobi, and immediately gave the fans a glimpse of his tremendous strength. Not only was he strong enough to incapacitate Kakashi Hatake, an accomplished ninja in his own right, for weeks, but even the likes of Orochimaru admitted inferiority to him which, at the time, was quite surprising. It was quite clear to see that Itachi was one of the very strongest characters in the entire series, and even among all the other Uchiha of the Naruto world, he stood out as someone quite special. Itachi Uchiha was born with the talent of the Uchiha and even among all the members of his clan, he was especially skilled. Having mastered some of the most difficult jutsu as a child, Itachi's potential was painted to be limitless. His brilliance shone even before he awakened his Mangekyo Sharingan. In fact, it is believed that by the age of 7, Itachi had the wisdom of a Kage already. This made him incredibly intelligent and his decision-making, along with the ability to analyze various situations while being calm, made him quite a unique shinobi. While that alone is quite impressive in itself, Itachi's strength went beyond just that. Shisui Uchiha's death triggered the power of the Mangekyo Sharingan in his eyes, making him one of the very few characters to ever wield this legendary eye. It is safe to say that Itachi's Mangekyo Sharingan was special and gave him access to some of the most overpowered jutsu. Using his left eye, Itachi could use the Amaterasu - inextinguishable black flames that burn until the target is reduced to ash, and with his right eye, he could cast a powerful genjutsu called Tsukuyomi. While all genjutsu are dangerous if used properly, Tsukuyomi was doubly special. Using this jutsu, Itachi could trap someone in a whole new illusionary world where he had complete control over both space and time, meaning he could manipulate almost anything in the world. One second from the real world could easily be converted to a lifetime in the world of Tsukuyomi and that is what made this genjutsu terrifying. In fact, it remains to be the only regular genjutsu that can kill someone. In Itachi Shinden, Itachi Uchiha cast Tsukuyomi on Izumi, and she was able to live her entire life with Itachi in the illusion where she died of old age. This effect carried on to the real world as well and Izumi ended up dying due to Tsukuyomi in a mere second of real-time.Lastly but not least Kishimoto made sure that Itachi was seen as someone special and he did an incredible job in establishing that in the story. When Itachi Uchiha awakened his Susano'o, he was seen wielding legendary weapons of the Totsuka Blade and the Yata Mirror. The former allowed Itachi to seal anyone he pierced in a world of genjutsu forever, while the latter gave him the ability to deflect any and all attacks thrown towards him, regardless of whether they were physical or spiritual in nature. According to Zetsu, these weapons, when combined with his Susano'o, made Itachi invincible. ☯️

omg trueee.. I was one of the first kid to get the manga in my village (got it from my fam in the city) and then witness Jiraya's death, this arc, until Pain vs Naruto. Everybody in my school couldn't wait to see it get animated after they forced me to spoil the story lmao

Sasuke proclaiming he will destroy the Hidden Leaf was the exact reason Itachi didn't want him to learn the truth. He knew Sasuke will be overcome by vengeance and rage towards the village.
Subtitles kinda missed what Itachi said before dying “sorry, Sasuke, but there won’t be another time” as he always promised to do something “next time”
He always say “Sorry Sasuke, maybe some other time” then at last he said “Sorry Sasuke, this it it”. 😢
Itachi being "good" was heavily foreshadowed :
When Itachi visited Konoha in OG Naruto, he didn't kill Kakashi even though he could have easily as stated by Kakashi himself.
Even Kakashi was shocked that why Itachi didnt kill him. Later in shippuden we found out that he was there only to warn Danzo for Sasuke's sake.
He was also able to find Naruto and could have easily captured him if he wanted to.
Jiraiya was not a problem for Itachi as we already knew Itachi massively scales above sannin level stated by Orochimaru himself.
If itachi wanted to, he could have defeated Jiraiya using genjutsu and captured Naruto but he didn't.
The reason for that is Jiraiya was drunk and off guard against itachi and even made an eye contact with Itachi and Kisame.
Itachi could have easily used Tsukuyomi and defeated Jiraiya without even engaging with him in an all out battle.
Also in Sasuke's flashback, Itachi stated that he will be always there for Sasuke no matter what, which was also a hint many people ignored.
Later in Shippuden, Itachi smiled when Naruto told him that he thinks of Sasuke as a brother.

Itachi is basically like Zeke in AOT. He realizes the Uchiha and Leaf can't coexist so he believes it's best for the Uchiha to disappear since their are "less" people, just like Zeke with the eldians.

For me Itachi is one of the most Unique characters from the series. The thing that people underestimate about Itachi fights/encounters, isn't just his power, (it's mainly writters or Kishimoto's fault for making itachi seem or to look very powerful throughout the series) but how smart and intelligent he is during various situations, he never, ever underestimates his opponents because of his composure and his way of being, the level of thinking he's on honestly dwars most people in the series, with only people like Minato and Shikaku comparable with him. More precisly, Itachi isn't just an ordinary Shinobi also, he pretty much knows and he's also aware that all strong opponents have weaknesses (including himself), and he specializes in finding those "weaknesses" and exploiting them ("*Even the strongest of opponents always has a weakness*" - Uchiha Itachi) because he's that type of character who can exceed almost any expectations. The advantage of being an Uchiha, especially for Itachi and Madara, is that during an encounter against them, they always have a counter because of their unpredictable way of fighting factor, they don't run out of options or techniques, they almost always have a counter in their arsenal, even forbidden jutsus seems irrellevant against them, only a few Uchihas know a certain way to approach the situation with a certain and effective technique, that's why is hard/difficult to fight against them in my opinion. ☯️
