This album dethroned Now 4, but both albums are great. All the Nows of 1984, along with this one are really good.

Agreed, I think I prefer this album over NOW 4 though and it features a lot of songs NOW 4 should have had.

Agreed, when Now 64 came out, they concluded their run for Hits albums, however for a while, they released Bravo Hits volumes. However, Now 64 is hands down, the best Now of 2006 and loads of Summer Nows seem to be the best ones of the year

@@charliejeffery4525 yeah. In terms of the Now albums from 2006, 64 was the best, then 65, as I find both albums great and 63 was the weakest, but its ok

This is the first time you've made a tracklist video for a different series other than the NOW! series! Loving the idea, Rob! Hits 1 was the album that dethroned NOW! 4 from the No.1 spot In November 1984. Disappointing, but understandable as this album had more hits. Anyway my favourite hits from this album include Freedom, Ghostbusters, Thriller, I Feel For You, Careless Whisper and Drive. Great video, Rob! Can't wait for future Hits tracklist videos. 🥰

Thank You and it certainly was yes and I think this album has a better tracklisting and tracks than Now 4, so really I don't think it's too surprising that it held if off the number one spot for that exact reason. My favourites on Hits 1 are :- 'Like to Get to Know You Well', 'Big in Japan', 'Self Control', 'Let's Hear it for the Boy', 'Lost in Music', 'Drive', 'Skin Deep', 'Jump' and 'Modern Girl'.
Hits 2 will follow this then it'll be Now 105 and then Now 5 afterwards. I shall do all the Hits volumes up to The Hits album 15 which was released in July 1991 which was the final one in the original wave of Hits albums. I won't be doing the second wave onwards as it's just not really worth it as a lot of the songs from that era onwards feature on Now albums anyway, it's the original Hits series that i'm going to focus entirely on. Thanks for commenting!

Thank You Joe and yeah this album was released at around the same time as Now 4 and was the album that kept it off the top spot in the albums chart. One of the things I like about the Hits series is they seem to contain a lot of really good 80's songs that weren't on Now albums, Hits 2 will follow this and then it'll be back to Now with Now 105 and Now 5. So plenty to look forward to, thank you once again for commenting Joe!

It's been awhile since I've commented on one of your videos, Rob. Kind of lost interest in the Now! series for a little bit.
This is interesting. I've never heard of "Hits 1". You've said in the description that this was a rival to the Now! series. And looking at the songs, all of them minus "Ghostbusters" are all songs that never appeared on any of the numbered Now! albums. I've mentioned this in many comments over the years that Now! albums always leave out certain popular songs that really should have been on the albums but weren't for seemingly no reason. I guess you could say the "Hits 1" album decided to include any of the popular songs they didn't include. That was a good idea rather than including a bunch of songs the Now! albums already included. That definitely would have made them stand out a little more and make buying it not redundant. Was there ever a "Hits 2" album or was this the only one in the series?
By the way, since we haven't spoken in awhile, how are you doing, Rob? I hope you're okay. We're living in some crazy times right now. And I'm working a lot more often than usual since I'm an essential worker (I'm a grocery store courtesy if you're wondering). And unfortunately it's hard to social distance when grocery stores are some of the most crowded places in any city. Other than that, I've just been doing some personal projects and getting excited for my birthday coming up (which is on May 1st). I also recently decided to take on the 30 day song challenge. If you don't know what that is, it's a challenge where for 30 days, you have to come up with a song that fits the criteria for each day (do a Google search for "30 day songs challenge" and you'll find the image with the criteria for each day). I've already chosen songs I like for all 30 days and starting after my birthday from May 2nd-31st, I'm going to reveal my song choice for each day. Not sure if you're on Twitter or Instagram, but I'm going to post my choices for each song in a Twitter thread and Instagram story over the 30 days (my Twitter is @snorbertd1 and my Instagram is @snorbertd). If you don't have either Twitter or Instagram, I can tell you my thirty choices on May 31st when the challenge ends. I've also already made a Spotify playlist with all 30 songs which I can link to you if you'd like to hear all 30 songs. There's a few songs on there from semi-obscure artists, so hopefully I can introduce you to some awesome songs that you've never heard before!
Anyway, that's all I gotta say. Talk to you soon.

Thanks Norbert and it's great to hear from you, The original Hits series (which is the one i'm gonna be focusing entirely on) started out in 1984 as a rival to the Now! series and finished in 1991. (Hits 15) And yes, they do feature pretty much all the 80's and very early 90's songs that were absent from Now albums. Pretty cool huh? There are a few songs (asides Ghostbusters) that did feature on a Now album as well as Hits those songs being :-
Ray Parker Jr. - Ghostbusters - Hits 1 and Now 4
Dead or Alive - You Spin Me Round (Like a Record) - Hits 2 and Now 63
Sister Sledge - Frankie - Hits 3 and Now 5
Paul Young - Everytime You Go Away - Hits 3 and Now 5
Cyndi Lauper - Time After Time - Hits 3 and Now 3
Nina Simone - My Baby Just Cares for Me - Hits 7 and Now 10
Rose Royce - Car Wash - Hits 8 and Now 12
Fleetwood Mac - Everywhere - Hits 8 and Now 84
      S'Express - Theme from S-Express - Hits 8 and Now 12
Seal - Crazy - The Hit Pack and Now 19
Berlin - Take My Breath Away - The Hit Pack and Now 9
That's all the ones from the main series anyway, the newer waves released in the 90's feature a lot more songs from Now albums, most of them in fact which is why it's not worth me doing them.
Also, Happy Birthday for the 1st of May and I don't have Twitter or Instagram no and yeah feel free to let me know which 30 songs you have chosen and to link me to your Spotify playlist that'll be cool, I can already think of quite a few songs that very much relate to this COVID-19 crisis no doubt i'll probably see some of them on your playlist. Hits 2 will follow this video then it'll be back to Now 105 and then Now 5 after that, thanks for commenting Norbert and it's great to hear from you :)

@@robertatkinson1347 Okay. I'll tell you my 30 songs I've chosen on May 31st and give you a link to the Spotify playlist. None of them actually specifically relate to COVID-19 in any way. Every song in the playlist was released before the outbreak even started. I'll give you some hints on what to expect:
      -There's 1 song from the 70's
      -2 songs from the 80's
      -5 songs from the 90's
      -9 songs from the 2000's
-And 13 songs from the 2010's.
There's 8 total songs that were on a numbered Now! UK album (9 if you count one song where the remix was on a Now! UK album, but I included the original).
There's also quite a few songs from semi-obscure artists and artists that are only popular in Canada. So expect to hear a few new songs and some artists you've never even heard of.
In terms of genres, expect to hear a lot of pop, some indie songs, a couple rock songs and a couple Christian music songs.
Also, feel free to take on the 30 day song challenge yourself. Let me know what your 30 songs are after your 30 days are up, I'd love to see your choices too.

No it isn't. This wave of Hits albums finished in 1991. There was then a second wave in 1993-1994 a third wave in 1995-2001, then a fourth wave in 2001 again, a fifth wave in 2001-2004 and then a sixth wave which was the final wave in 2005-2006.
