People other than SHAWOLs never really understand how extremely close these boys are. No other boy group is as close as SHINee, and they are still close with Jonghyun's mother & sister. They can get into each others homes (Taemin left a birthday cake in Key's fridge and stole one of his sweaters on Key's birthday while Key was on in the military, filming the entire thing for fans). They survived this tragedy which would break many other groups because of their love for each other, and their vow to continue with Jonghyun's dream of SHINee forever. This took a lot of courage because during that time, the press and anti-fans were horrible to them, saying SHINee went on with their 2018 concert to make money off the tragedy. What they really wanted to do was to commemorate Jonghyun and share their grief and to begin healing with their fans. SHINee LOVES their fans. This meant a lot to SHAWOLs. Others just didn't get it.
The entire "Story of Light" album was a dedication to Jonghyun and what he meant to them. The title track for each of the three albums features the story of their grieving process and ending with acceptance. Beginning with EP#1's track, "Good Evening" which is extremely deep, meaningful, and contains a lot of metaphorical symbolism relating to Jonghyun, all of which shows the stages of grief they were going through at the time. I'm sure one of us SHAWOLs will explain everything to you when you react to it.
EP#2, "I Want You" is where the boys express how much they want Jonghyun back, "...I don't care if it's a dream, show yourself to me", but reality hits them in the morning. They sing about "I hope you'll come to me with a different ending then last time" and "I can't let you go". The song and the MV are very up beat which belies the heavy, yearning lyrics underneath.
"Our Page", the last EP of the trilogy, #3, ends with this song. It is a song penned by all four brothers collectively. The opening of the MV shows activities in which each of them engaged with Jonghyun: Onew used to write music with JH; Taemin would work out in the gym with JH; Minho was on a movie location when the tragedy happened; Key who loved to play around and goof off with JH. At the end, time speeds up but they are still stuck in one place because Jonghyun is not with them. This thought is also repeated in the lyrics for their 2021 song, "Area" penned by Minho -- also honoring Jonghyun. This MV shows us that reality has definitely hit them and lets us know that Jonghyun will never be forgotten because he's now a star shining brightly to guide their way with the words he's left behind. As they walk together, bathed in the pearl-aqua light of SHAWOLs, they will return to the stage with Jonghyun's spirit always present....They will always be 5HINee.
The repackaged album, The Story of Light - Epilogue", was just that with "Countless" illustrating the "countless" ways in which Jonghyun will be missed going forward and how much they will cherish their memories.
To this day they still remember and celebrate Jonghyun by leaving spaces open for him in choreos, making references to him in their lyrics, and pointing to to the sky with their awards when they win at an awards show. It has just been within the last few years (after the first 3 returned from military service) that all the brothers feel comfortable talking about him and sharing stories about him in public.

Yes, and I love that recently they each got matching “friendship rings” to commemorate their friendship and brotherhood and during an interview they just casually said yeah we got 5 rings, picked one out of Jonghyun hyung and then…. Like it was just a very normal part of their lives. I love that about shinee

Our page lyrics are a must see, the words were written by the four remaining brothers as a message for jonghyun, themselves and us. It has a promise to continue on, to always remember and never forget. In your own time please look the words up it has sooooo much meaning. When the time comes to react to shinee from now on concert, it was only two months after jonghyun passing. The concert was heart breaking, alot of tears and struggles but they made it through with the blessing of jonghyuns mother and sister and the love and support of there fans. It was hard to watch but it's apart of there journey. Thank you so much for this beautiful reaction.

It was a difficult time for them and for us. The fact that they decided to continue was very comforting for many of us, because together we were going through a period of coming to terms with the fact that we would not be able to
see him on stage. Unfortunately, not everyone has managed to cope with this so far. One of my daughters couldn't watch anything until Taemin came back, but she's slowly starting to listen to them.

But when they found the strength to continue, I decided I would walk with them until the end. I am glad your daughter took time she needed. Even though they are artists, they feel like family. I hope she can heal and find joy in their music again. Sending you and your daughter much love ❤

I’m surprised you hadn’t picked up on Keys vocals before…he has the biggest vocal range of all the members..baritone to falsetto.. and all the in between.. and of course Minho’s wingman on the rap. Watch Alive live performance to hear him and Minho really bouncing off each other..the rap is on fire. Countless is definitely in my top SHINee songs along with Good Evening..I love the whole Story of Light album songs. It’s important to read the lyrics for Our Page to really understand the song and meaning…the beautiful words you've left behind
Are like a poem and have become a song
    We raise our voices high
Knowing that it'll reach up to where you are…It was written by the rest of SHINee for Jonghyun. The hardest bit is at the end when Onew says 수고했어 (sugohaesseo) you did well. Jonghyun asked in his final letter to please say he did well so it’s beautiful but heartbreaking too… still miss you so much Jjong 😢

Our page always brings pain and loss but also happiness that he is at peace. When you do the live version of From Now On make sure you have nannies for crying because like each member you will cry your eyes out just like Onew and key did on the stage they couldn't contain their grief that day especially as the song ends with Jonghyuns final vocals.. Good luck when you listen to it.

Our page is one of the most beautiful song and all the members were involved in lyrics writing, when it was released ofcourse it was hard and painful to watch and i never actually went back to watch this Mv, at that time it was just too much to handle but it also gave us the reassurance that no matter what shinee will be five, yes physically we can see only four of them but Jjong is there, he is there in each and everything they do, his brothers will contiune this journey which the 5 of them always dreamt of, it was painful but again it was a promoise that shinee will always be onew jonghyun key Minho and taemin. If it's not five then it's not shinee.

The fox in the I want you is representative of Jonghyun and if you didn't notice there was a 5th shadow when you see them at the well in the forest. And yes this is the beginning these 3albums were all about jonghyun and their grief process and how they came through it finally. Key is a natural baritone right up to falsetto with his vocal range. He I my shoes it where it's needed.
Our page is their song for him it is one of the most beautiful of songs as is from now on which is where you will hear Jonghyuns final vocals. Everything is a tribute to Jonghyun. Each thing each member does is a reminder for him
Key- with choreography dance practice (the dance he was doing was from his bad love album at the time.)
Minho who is an actor as well as a shinee member did filming stunts. ( Jonghyun loved movies which he'd watch whenever he had spare free time. Usually when he was writing songs in early he's as he could never sleep.)
Taemin- the gym the place where Jonghyun loved to work out as much as he could. whenever he could. Taemins purposes when he was younger was not as much for the gym but he would go. Whereas these days he works out alot.
Onew - writing/composing/ producing. this was Jonghyuns favourite passtime among everything else he did . He was always writing or composing and producing songs for himself, shinee, and other artists.
countless is a happy song for they were finally coming out of their grieving for him. From every album or song onwards there was always his space during the choreo. There are representations in the songs/mv for jonghyun you'll know them if you really look for them.
And if you watch Minho whenever they do a concert and he looks up to the sky it's their way of including Jonghyun especially whenever they do the choreo for everybody. Minho does Jonghyuns part up in the sky for him everytime.
Have any questions feel free to ask

The story in SHINee's "I Want You" MV is connected to the story from their previous release "Good Evening" MV. The story in"Good Evening" is about the grieving process and how the members all dealt with Jonghyun's death in the public eye. In "I Want You," it's a continuation of that story, however, now it's about how the members are learning to find happiness again. Like in Alice in Wonderland, where Alice follows the White Rabbit down the rabbit hole and discovers a magical wonderland. In "I Want You" the members follow the fox into the magical well on a journey to find happiness. The fox represents Jonghyun's spirit as he helps guide the SHINee members and Shawols through life.
If you remember, in "Good Evening" the forest, the well and the fox are all things you also saw in that MV. And, as you noticed, the whole aesthetic and style of both MVs are similar as well. Therefore, the story continues from one MV to the next.
To understand what is happening in the MV you need to know that it had only been about 5 1/2 months when this MV came out since Jonghyun died and this album -- which was part of their 10th anniversary celebration in 2018 -- is all about how SHINee and Shawols have been grieving and are finally ready to begin to heal and come out of the darkness into the light. The album is called The Story of Light, and the whole album is about how the members are learning to find happiness and light again as they honor Jonghyun's memory.
This MV is full of a range of emotions because that is exactly how the members are feeling at this time. However, you're right, you should look at the song as bitter sweet, not necessarily sad -- it has a hopeful, happy theme. The song is all about how SHINee is saying, "I Want You" to know that we are going to be OK, we will sticking together as a group and continue to run ahead as we follow Jonghyun's spirit through life, etc.
You also see SHINee in space catching diamonds/stars (i.e. diamonds in the sky) because the diamonds represent SHINee, Shawols and Jonghyun. SHINee's symbol is a diamond and the group was given the name SHINee because the members shine like stars. As I interpret it, they are collecting diamonds to show just how important the group and everything to do with SHINee is to them. Jonghyun is now our star and "Diamond in the Sky."
One reason SHINee are in space is thought to be because being in space is closer to Heaven and closer to Jonghyun. Plus, Jonghyun really loved the moon. It was even said that the moon turned a pearl aqua color -- SHINee's fan color -- the day of Jonghyun's funeral. And fans took comfort in the fact that this meant that his spirit had made it to Heaven and that he was now at peace.
This MV is supposed to show how SHINee sees themselves and how they are personally dealing with everything that happened, which is different than how in "Good Evening" the story is suppose to be about how the general public sees them.
Everything from SHINee's Story of Light album is linked and the entire album is about different things to do with Jonghyun and the journey they have been on for the past 10 years, etc. And even Key's solo debut "Forever Yours" MV and Face album and Onew's solo debut "Blue" MV and Voice album are thought to be connected to these MVs because they were all released this same year.
This comeback is part of a three part release containing 3 mini albums with 5 songs each. To promote their The Story of Light trilogy album they had 3 comebacks, each 2 weeks apart, to showcase their lead track on each of their albums. "Good Evening" and "All Day All Night" were their comeback tracks from Episode 1, " I Want You" and "Who Waits for Love" were their comebacks from Episode 2 and Episode 3 was "Our Page" and "Tonight". Their comeback lasted 6 weeks to represent the fact that it was SHINee's 6th "full length" album. At the end of the six weeks, they released a special final MV with their song "Countless." "Countless" was an epilogue track that was added to their repackaged Story of Light album.
You should now check out the dance practice video for "I Want You" in order to really see the choreography.

This era of SHINee is indeed very significant and still a little painful, but I believe that most Shawols today are proud of how SHINee expressed their feelings over the loss of Jonghyun.
I think it's worth commenting that this era represents the group's 10th anniversary celebrations and also announced the hiatus for Onew, Key and Minho to begin their mandatory military services in the following months and years.
The complete group would only come together again 3 years after this era, with the album Don't Call Me (2021) and in the same year Taemin would begin his mandatory military service, making fans wait another 2 years for the 15th anniversary celebrations. years in 2023.

"Countless" is the epilogue track on SHINee's repackaged The Story of Light album. "Countless" was meant to be a special song dedicated to the fans, letting Shawols know how much we have meant to them over the years. So, the theme of this MV is sort of about time -- the time we have spent together as SHINee and Shawols. In other words, we have been together for a long time -- 10 years -- but there are "Countless" reasons why I still want and need you by my side, etc. I think the passing of time feeling you get is supposed to be a reflection of how time has passed over the years. Their anniversary marks the passing of time, as we think back on 10 years together and gear up for many more years to come. This song is supposed to be the happy ending to their anniversary celebration and I see the message in the MV as a reassurance to fans that they plan to continue to be the SHINee we know and love for many more years. "
Blue flowers, when equated with a message usually stand for love and inspiration, and when presenting someone with blue flowers you are telling them you will stay loyal and passionate about them. In "Countless" I see SHINee presenting blue flowers to use Shawols saying, they are promising to stay true and loyal to use and to keep the passion they have as a group alive -- they are promising to keep on working hard to give us their best. Which is fitting because "Countless" was the song that helped to bring their message in their Story of Light album to a close and showed us that they will continue on and work even harder to continue theirs and Jonghyun's legacy, etc. Plus, pearl aqua blue/green, is SHINee's fan color so there are always blue images and blue colors in their MVs. Blue has a lot of important messages when it comes to SHINee.
During promotions for their 10th anniversary, the members all said that when it came time to renew their contract after 10 years, they each separately went to SM and resigned without even discussing it with each other. They all said they felt like there was a lot more they wanted to do and accomplish as SHINee and they didn't even need to think about it. And now that they have just celebrated their 15th anniversary, Key recently revealed how they have all renewed their contracts once again for the third time, and to show their solidarity as a group, he said the members have all agreed that if they ever decided to leave SM or they came to a point where they were ready to retire, then they would all do it together -- the group and the members as a whole are more important to each of them then anything they do individually.
"Countless" also was SHINee's last group comeback before Onew, Key and Minho went off to serve in the military.
As you have noticed before, Taemin's style of singing, especially in SHINee songs, is a lot like Jonghyun. He even fills in for Jonghyun whenever Jonghyun was unable to participate in a performance. And even today, Taemin often takes over the high notes and the parts that I think would probably have been Jonghyun's parts in their new songs, like you hear in "Countless." Jonghyun was the one that really took Taemin under his wing and helped him to become the singer and performer that he is today. So, many think that Taemin's voice emulates Jonghyun because he is the one that taught Taemin to sing. Jonghyun has always been Taemin's biggest supporter and the one that rooted for him the hardest and loudest out of anyone.
Now you have seen SHINee's complete "Story of Light" -- "Good Evening" is about SHINee's grieving process and the way the public sees them, "I Want You" is about learning to find happiness again and how they are personally dealing with everything that happened and "Our Page" is the members telling Jonghyun's and their story. Then "Countless" wraps the whole story up and marks the beginning of a new chapter in SHINee's career. However, the story doesn't end here. Several of the B-side tracks from this album also have a powerful message, such as "You & I," which was written by Key. "You & I" was originally written as a memorial to Key's grandma but, after Jonghyun's death, he reinterpreted and reworked the lyrics and it became a tribute to Jonghyun as well.
SHINee has no control over what videos get subtitles. SM decides what to put subs on. And the company didn't start putting subs on any of its videos until the end of 2018. SHINee's The Story of Light comeback was in May and June 2018, so this was before SM started putting subs on any videos, not just SHINee MVs. Although it's nice to have English translations of the lyrics right in the MV, it's not that hard to look up. This was the era when companies created official lyric videos to accompany MVs instead of subbing the MV. And, even before that, fans have been creating lyric videos for almost any Kpop song that has ever existed with translations in multiple languages, so it should only take you a minute to look up if you just search.
Personally, I think people are pretty spoiled today. Everyone just expects to have subs in multiple languages on any video they watch. As someone who has been a Kpop fan since 2006, back then international fans were lucky to even be able to see an MV the day it was released, and we had to search fan sites for even the most basic of translations, which we often had to wait a week or more for. And we felt extremely fortunate to even get that much. ;P We felt like a covert spy or undercover FBI agent searching for national secrets every time we scoured the internet for a Kpop video with subs. We just hoped to find the video uploaded by a fan with a rough translation of what they were saying.

Great reaction. There is so much emotion in the title tracks for Story of Light.
On another note, while SHINee World IV and V are the iconic concerts for them, SHINee World 2018 was the first concert without Jonghyun and has so many tributes to him. All three are worth a complete reaction (and are available online). By far the hardest to watch is the concluding song of SWC 2018, "From Now On." Although it's difficult, it really shows their brotherhood, personal strength, and love for their fans. Just know that if you are a Shawol, you WILL cry, so you might not want to watch it as a reaction.
You mentioned how their newer stuff really shows how their discography is transitioning, but another impressive aspect is how they cover the old songs. While Taemin is usually the one who covers Jonghyun parts, Onew and Key will occasionally step in, and I have even heard lower-registered Minho do some. For their most recent tour, Onew was ill, so it was JUST Minho, Key, and Taemin covering songs written for 5!!! Some of those parts aren't just any old main vocalist parts, they were written for two of the best in the industry. It really shows how all of them are incredible vocalists (and aces that can cover any role tbh).

Thank you for continuing your SHINee journey. As commented by others, Our Page is best checked out with lyrics. It's the letter made by the members for Jonghyun. Also, even prior to these releases, SHINee continued with their Japan concert From Now On barely 2 months after Jonghyun's passing. It was a great tribute for Jjong, SHINee really showed how strong they are. If you're up for it, you may want to check this concert, it is really good, they sang so differently, their voices were so good. They did so well covering for Jonghyun's parts of the songs (though there are some shawols who still can't watch this concert until now since it can get really emotional). There is also a performance called From Now On, they sang it with Jonghyun's voice with that 5th mic. It's one of the best tributes for him. Video is uploaded in TH-cam with lyrics if you want to check it out.

😭😭NOOOOO you cant do this to me …. it was deeply painful to lose him even as time passes it still so hard to listen to their older songs without him but his presence & personality lives on through his brothers of SHINee and k-pop community. So, LONG LIVE KIM JONG-HYUN!! Both JONGHYUN & TAEMIN have been my SHINee biases since day one but I am OT5 forever.

    1) Check the Lyrics of Our Page, you will understand it better.
    2) Many background adlibs were by Key and Onew, Key is known as Tripple threat for a reason. He can SING, RAP & DANCE. He is a rapper first. You should check their B-sides to get it. You can check the live performance of Alive. MinKey ate that one.
Yes, there is more scope for all of them now but Key has always been a great vocalist, he is just underrated. You can start their solo journey after completing the SHINee journey and check their Bsides too. SHINee is a treat to listen to.

The Our Page MV is what turned me into a Shawol.
I'd just started listening to k-pop 2 years ago and had Atlantis on my playlist (every time it shuffled in I thought "these guys *really* know what they're doing" ), but hadn't paid much attention to MVs or particular groups yet. Then by chance I heard Jonghyun sing Moon, and I was lost. Within a couple of weeks I came across Our Page, with English lyrics, while I was learning more about Jonghyun and falling harder every day. I didn't even know all the members names yet, much less who was who, but by the end of the MV I became a Shawol. Our Page is so beautiful and so beautifully done and the love that Onew and Key and Taemin and Minho have for Jonghyun is so palpable... One of the (many) lines that stays with me: "Holding the precious you in my arms", which makes me think of Jjong getting emotional at concerts and the other members hugging him. So much obvious love and brotherhood between these five... And now I'm getting emotional again...

Please, Please look up the lyrics for SHINee's "Our Page." I feel like, out of all Kpop songs in existence, this is one of the most important songs to know what the lyrics are about. Every word of the song was written by the members and it is all about Jonghyun. The lyrics make reference to things that Jonghyun said to them in the letter he left them when he died. Every word is talking about their relationship as a group and their relationship with Jonghyun. The song and lyrics are a tribute to him and the more than 10 years the members spent together as a group.
The official lyric video for SHINee's "Our Page" is posted, not on SM's main channel, but on SM's !t Live channel, th-cam.com/video/Ij0fwQtU3Kc/w-d-xo.html. (If you think this MV is emotional now, just wait until you understand the lyrics. It will help you understand everything you saw happening in the MV.) I feel like people miss so much of the message in the MV if they don't understand the lyrics. After looking up the lyrics you might want to go back and rewatch the MV to understand the story better and to discover what you didn't know the first time.
As the lyrics say, "We'll stick together through thick and thin, When I look back on the road we've traveled, The five of us holding hands and shedding tears together, The memories are so clear, I never want to forget it. And can never forget it ...", etc. If you know their backstory, than it should be fairly easy to understand that they are talking about Jonghyun and everything they have been through in the past 10 years.
I interpret the message in the lyrics as, "The beautiful words you've left behind (referring to the letters Jonghyun wrote to them before he died), Are like a poem and have become a song. (Jonghyun's words and thoughts have become lyrics to this song, as well as dozens of other songs he wrote throughout his lifetime, etc.) We raise our voices high, Knowing that it'll reach up to where you are (Their voices will reach Jonghyun in Heaven) When the stars fade, will it all be forgotten? (They are saying, they will never let their star fade so that Jonghyun will never be forgotten, and they will keep on living to keep his memory alive, etc.), You were so special to me, so I hold you close (Talking directly to Jonghyun),This page in the novel has yet to end (The song is called "Our Page", so they are talking about telling their story and creating the pages of their novel that has yet to end because they are still writing it every day.) I want to stay together until the end (Taemin has always said that he never wants SHINee to break up and that he wants them to still be together even after they are married with children and are in their 50s, 60s, 70s)," etc.
In the story in "Our Page" the members are just trying to go about their everyday lives in a world that no longer makes sense to them. It is showing them grieving Jonghyun's death.
This song is very powerful and full of meaning. The message each of them sings about is very personal to them -- they each wrote their own lines -- and it's about their journey as a group and how much impact Jonghyun had in their life. And, as the members have said, it's about all the things they wish they could have told Jonghyun, etc.
"Our Page" is epic because it should be epic. It was the song that made Shawols feel like it was finally OK to start to get back to a little bit of normal again. It was a moment of collective catharsis for everyone within the fandom and it showed us that the members were finally ready to get back to what they loved and they were more dedicated then ever to continue on as a group. I feel like people miss so much of the meaning and story in the MV if you don't know what the lyrics are about.

In the MV, in the beginning you see each of the members struggling just to carry on with everyday life. But because they have no other choice, they all decide that the only way to honor Jonghyun's memory is to continue on. So you see Onew get back to composing songs (Jonghyun was the songwriter of the group so, this scene also is supposed to invoke memories of him as well), Taemin goes back to the gym (Jonghyun also spent a lot of time in the gym, so this was also Taemin's way of connecting with Jonghyun.) Minho is one of the top actors in Korea and when Jonghyun died he was on set filming for a drama, so we see Minho trying to get back to his normal routine and back to filming. And Key is one of the members, besides Taemin, who is known for his dancing, so you see him getting back to the dance studio and practicing the choreography for his solo debut album.
Fun fact: We didn't know that what we saw in this MV was a secret reveal of Key's choreography for his debut solo releases, but since then, now that Key's album and MVs have come out, we realize that this was the choreography for one of his solo songs.
The background beat of the song is supposed to represent the heartbeat of the group, the heartbeat of the fans, everything that kept the members moving forward and what brings them together as a group, etc. Every part of this song was done very purposefully and deliberately.
As you may remember, the green/aqua blue light you see all around them is SHINee's fan color. It represents how Jonghyun is always all around them and how he is calling them back to the stage. The light washes over the members representing how the fans' love, support and solidarity within the fandom gives the members the strength to carry on and to continue as a group.
At one point you see each of the members standing still in a room while the world around them continues on. This represents how their world came to a standstill when Jonghyun died and how for a while it felt like their world stopped while everyone else continued living their lives.
As they climb the stairs to the stage, you see the lights come on one by one. I like to think that was each of the fans sending their support to encourage them to keep moving forward. And then once on stage, you see the members all standing on stage with the one empty mic stand in the center that represents Jonghyun.
And at the end, if you listen closely, you hear them whisper in Korean, "You did well," which is a reference to Jonghyun's request in his final letter, "Please, tell me that I did well." That is why you will often see fans say "You did well" on comments that have to do with Jonghyun.
Fun fact No. 2: Just like SHINee's "1 Of 1" MV was 5:25 long because it was supposed to represent how SHINee debuted 5/25/08, "Our Page" was 5:10 long because it was a reference to the fact that SHINee will forever be a group of 5 and this album is celebrating their 10th anniversary.
