This was/is amazing! Thankyou Nimwey so much for giving us this. Knowing how it all happened all I see while looking at it ...especially towards the end...is the "torment" written all over Tuomas's face....considering what happened afterwards it is little wonder he plummeted down into that despair...BUT...without this all happening would we have ever had the sheer Masterpiece of Poet & the Pendulum?? Now we have to see if his genius can continue now we are without Marko!! History tells me we may.

I completely understand why they wrote the letter to her, and why they made the decision they made. But them releasing it publicly was ridiculous, imo. That kind of stuff should be done privately.
It's easy to see this afterwards. However I get why they did it publicly, and in general I think it might have worked but the contents of the letter backfired. It was pretty obvious no matter what the fans would be devastated and blame the band and not the front woman ( at least big portion ). And I suppose they thought the chance of Tarja/Marcelo becoming nasty would be high, so they tried to get their view out first.
The problem with the letter is that it shows anger more than sadness. I'm pretty sure it's factually correct, as Tarja's response kind of proves it as she doesn't even try negate it.
@@juzujuzu4555 Exactly. I even heard from someone that they met Tarja on the Once tour, and said she needed humbling, then met her again sometime after the firing, saying she was very humble. Which is very true, I think. Watching that End of an Era concert, the band is focused on trying to put on the best show of their lives, while "ho, hum, just another day, just another show" is kind of on her face. I don't want to pick sides, as i love all the members of Nightwish, and just look at this as a bad situation.
@@Stinkydo0d I agree the situation was bad. I loved Tarja, but I'm on the side of the band while acknowledging their mistakes also. I think Marcelo managed to change Tarja, and thus I'm not against her even though I acknowledge her mistakes.
And I also get it from the point of Marcelo. Marry a woman who is the lead of the biggest symphonic metal band and you certainly try to ensure the future of you both and feel that perhaps the boys are not compensating her enough.
But while I understand him, I also blame him the most.
I'm happy though that we don't need to think about that situation anymore and instead enjoy the amazing art that resulted from that all. It was so hard to watch how Tuomas was suffering even before the event, I can only imagine how he felt afterwards.

Just so people know there's also a letter online in response by Tarja to the Open letter and in addition a 90 minute press conference by Tarja with English subtitles broken down into about ten or eleven sections for easier viewing.
I get it. The atmosphere was tense and Tarja was basically not a part of the band anymore... Marcelo is everywhere! It's like he has to control Tarja 24/7.

Just watched the video. Whilst it only shows select bits there appears to be a distance between Tarja and the male band members. In the press conference she mentions finding it difficult being the only woman in the band and various band employees on tour. Perhaps more effort should be made all around to do things together for band 'bonding'. It may have been an error on Tarja's part to have her new husband involved so closely with the band as it changes dynamics and can cause tensions when he 'sticks up for his wife'. Tuomas makes a dig at him in the letter. Her sacking was major major news in Finland the Prime Minister even weighed in on it, paraphrased, he said "not wanting to take sides but this could have been handled much better".
To reiterate my comment from 2 days earlier. By the time of this concert film technology had improved so videos were better quality. Tarja was looking beautiful and had found her style stride. But more importantly by this time her voice was second to none. But sadly we had this one live album and the studio album to whet our appetites and then have it whipped away that's what really hurt me.
They treated Tarja very badly and Tuomas in particular was appalling maybe he should forget the tortured artist routine and apologise and reconcile with her. It was bad how he publicly smeared her with that passive aggressive and carefully crafted hit piece letter.
It's ironic that after treating two female singers badly the band finally grows up and treats Floor the way that Tarja wanted to be treated.
Tuomas was hurt that Tarja fell in love with and married another man couldn't take it when he represented Tarja.
Tuomas is certainly a musical genius but also a bit of a jerk.
What really hurts me and no doubt others is that by the time of the last concert Tarja had got her voice fully together integrating that operatic style with the more regular belting style they could have really gone places instead they were both damaged. What a waste.
Who is the curly haired guy that keeps hovering around Tarja? 24:10...

The situation was beyond talk. Tarja wasn't going to do any touring anymore, Marcelo handled her business side and it was obvious that they couldn't talk with him. The only problem I have is the content of the letter itself. It went a little too personal and it was too honest (thus anger showed through it all, among despair etc), but I get why they had to do this. Sadly it backfired, which is what it was supposed to prevent. With little more carefully crafted letter things could have been way different.
I don't really know how much international aspects they were thinking, but from Finnish point of view I get why they did this. They were the biggest band of Finland, and we are such a small country that it was obviously going to be massive news. People loved Tarja like crazy, and I suppose they scared that Tarja/Marcelo could spin the situation in favor of them and leaving Nightwish's image and memory in ruins.
Best decision they ever made honestly. Tarja was a one dimensional voice, not a bad voice, but...
I think they're better off now, it's a shame Marco is no longer with them. He was a greater loss than Tarja in my eyes. But they're still making beautiful music

I think that kicking tarja out was good decision because band relationships were very bad in end of the Once tour, but anyway still i’m sad about what happened in 2005..
