  • There are certain issues that the church is silent on too often. Whether it’s from fear of controversy or just not knowing what to say, it’s all too easy for many Christians to be afraid of talking about topics that can seem “messy.” Jackie Hill Perry is not one of those people. Having dealt with sexual abuse, pornography, gender confusion, same-sex attraction, and more, Jackie is well versed in these topics that many Christians fear to talk about. And as an author, speaker, poet, and more, Jackie has found herself in a unique position to speak up about these important issues. This week on the Nothing Is Wasted Podcast, Jackie sits down with Davey to share some of her story and how it relates to pain, healing, redemption, and more.

In regards to Father wounds, God ministered strength to my heart in a conversation yesterday when I was talking with my son and sharing that a warrior who is more equipped with weapons is more victorious - in the same way the more truth we have of God the more victorious we are against the lies that hinder us. In addition God have me a revelation of His goodness, that He is my good, loving Heavenly Father, that He is for me and wants the very best for me, that I am safe with Him and can trust Him and don’t need to be afraid of doing something wrong. This revelation along with the scriptures of Gods goodness transformed my believing and therefore my experiences. 😊

Trauma and lies do not need to stay with us. God is more than able to fully restore us! His truth sets us free!!! If He has power to raise the dead nothing is impossible with Him. I have experienced that reality in my own life from the revelation of His truth!

This is so profound. Some of our behaviours we term as our personalities are just coping and defensive mechanisms (mind blown) working on. them means you reap the fruits of the spirit we become kind, compassionate, patient. Thank you for the gift of words, lord your word.

The believing is crucial. He wants us to know the truth about Him that sets us free to live as He created us to which glorifies Him and fulfills us. When we know the truth of His goodness it gives us a peace and courage to live this abundant life and shut down the enemies lies!

The truth of God’s goodness sets us free from fear! If He is for us, who can be against us! Our God is good and wants the very best for us! Our God is good and He is for us!

Do we always ‘feel’ the goodness of God when we are grieving? When one is grieving and are told to feel ‘good’, I believe it is-not necessarily intentional-encouraging one to live In denial.
I lived and know denial very well coming from a family of addicts, to be encouraged to do the same from believers is beyond discouraging.
I don’t have the verse but it’s like taking a warm blanket away from one who is is suffering.
Aaah to know the joy of the Lord in the midst of my suffering…so is my prayer. 🙏

I wonder if being downtrodden or suffering equals lack of ‘joy’ to many Christians.
    Paraphrasing what Jackie said:
If you can’t ‘sit’ with your own pain-for whatever reason-how can you sit with others who suffer?
The ‘help’ I received from church folk after a tragedy was-more or less was trust in God and get over it.
God made our brain he blessed us with ‘psychological shock’, ‘catatonic state’ to protect us. It takes time to recover from shock-Healing the traumatic brain takes time. God is the God of all including science.
Learning about the pathophysiology of my God given/made brain has been a critical piece in my healing, allowing my brain to ‘literally’ recover.
Thank you Jackie and Davey…I hear you!
To the question of do we welcome all? If not, which ‘sin’ disqualifies one from entering. SSA, adultery, liars? Why do we pick and choose?
Why does SSA get SO much attention?
