I’m just an average guy that could have a great time in Vegas. Reasonably priced food, hotels, terrific entertainment and of course gambling. My last trip was the year before Covid. I saw Diana Ross, Elton John and Aerosmith. After Covid no top entertainers, expensive food and hotels and high cost air flights. The local Native American casinos offer me free hotel, free food and decent discounts to second level entertainment. I realized Vegas was aiming for those that had a lot more money than me.

Totally agree!! Years ago when we had the big recession, we received offers to Elton John, Bette Midler, Barry Manilow, etc. concerts. And we went bc I knew this would probably never happen again.
And currently we’re enjoying our local casinos bc we get nice comps compared to the more expensive trips to Vegas.

We’re perfectly happy staying in California and playing at our local casinos.
If we go to Vegas, we have to pay for airfare, Uber or shuttle to and from the airport from home and then again to and from the airport in Vegas to our hotel.
We’re budgeted low rollers who enjoy playing the slots for fun.
There are many seniors just like us in the local casinos.

I think the average person is tired of getting fleeced in Vegas. $11 for a beer on Fremont, that is only $66 a six pack not including the "required" tip. With prices like that Fremont should be well into the black. Come on man. Not to mention the ever rising "resort" fees. Vegas can only take, take, take for so long then the whole experience tends to leave a bad taste in the customer's mouth. Also, could the down turn have anything to do with the crappy economy? 🤔

    • @GambleSmart

Yes!! Here in California, the minimum wage just went up to $20 an hr.
Businesses are laying off workers because they can’t afford paying that amount plus health care insurance for their workers.
So the politicians shot people in the foot by passing this law.
Businesses try to pass it on to the consumers, but those consumers are now the unemployed former workers who being unemployed can’t afford the prices of these businesses.
Almost every restaurant has increased their prices. We now order takeout instead of dining in at the same restaurants.

You can still get loss leader deals on food and drinks if you hunt them down but it’s not like it was when you could just go from casino to casino getting hot dogs and tacos.
The places that have good deals like Downtown Grand or Circus Circus should really publicize their offerings. I think people don’t know there are still old school places to go

the casinos on the strip slowly became a tourist trap fewer comps, charge for everything, resort fees (even when the spas and pools are closed), paid parking, fewer free drinks, higher minimum limits, room mini bars that have criminal prices. The downtown casinos are sadly following suit. Lets not forget that the slots are almost all high volatility to high High volatility with only a splattering of medium to the rare low volatility. I really feel that the Cirque de Solei shows are just getting old. The big name concerts sell out fast or are crazy expensive. The F1 showing did not help either all the pre construction just made people go to their local casinos or go to other places. I myself started going to Dallas with a quick trip to winstar and Choctaw. The food is getting expensive buffets are minimal. It falls on government leadership also . room taxes are crazy.
