One time I was playing some Slayer stuff in a music shop just messin' around with my friend and a young kid came up and was amazed cuz he was a Slayer fan. I played him the intro to Raining blood and he was like "Can you play the next part??" and I explained that it's messy even if you play it right, and I did my noodly attempt at that dirty riff and he was so freaking happy and mind blown. I told him that if he keeps practicing then he will be better than me, cuz I started around his age. This song got me into metal... hope that kid kept playing!
As a 15 year old growing up to nothing but AC/DC, Guns N Roses, and of course Guitar Hero, I can say that Slayer and Anthrax are the main bands that really got me into thrash metal more than anything
@@Green-cd1np I love Down With The Sickness, but I find myself doing more of a head bobbing than head banging motion. It's a hard song, but I feel like the tempo is just a bit too slow and the riff just a tad too simple, in a way, to full on headbang. Maybe what I'm saying doesn't make sense since Pantera's Walk is a great headbanger and happens to play at a slower tempo, but you can't deny that main riff along with the simplistic, yet very real and relatable lyrics.
Luis Rosario it’s funny you say that cause for me I don’t really headbang to walk I just bop my head, like don’t get me wrong it’s an awesome and catchy song but just not exactly heavy, fast or intense like down with the sickness, guess everybody’s different

Don't worry. It's probably the hardest part of the song. Just practice with a metronome and turn the bpm up a bit every time you practice until you get to the speed of the song. It's what worked for me :)
alternate picking and pretending like I was tapping my fingers on a desk (like when you're bored in class) is what helped me. If I focus on every single note I can't play anywhere near that speed.
Gary Holt (Exodus Legend) Hopefully Slayer doesn't come to an end, they've been at it for so long. I think Jeff's unfortunate departure may be a bridge too hard to cross.
@DIMEBAGshreder thanks man appreciated, I'd love to be in a band again but Townsville Australia doesn't have too much to offer in that department. If I were in a band though, I'd be too busy to put up vids on the tube.
I'd do it if I could but it don't have a wang bar, can't do that solo without one. Glad you liking the covers. I'll do some deth soon, bit rusty at the moment \m/
I think when you've been playing a long time the two hands synchronise together allowing you to play as fast as your hands can move but to fast track to that I remember John Pettrucci's Rock Discipline DVD. I'm sure it's on the tube. The chapter was speed and accuracy. I got the book years ago and it was very good, I still haven't done the exercises though
Oh i dont have a problem with picking hand, down picking no probs, But my fretting hand cant catch up....yeah that suc. Soo i ending up with BIG mess lol

I was just checking the songsterr tab out trying to learn this, I am an intermediate player and 90 percent of the song is incredibly doable, when I saw the tab of the solo on songsterr though I closed my browser, I don't even have a whammy bar
It sounds like original! How much works you put on it? And what amp settings do you use? This solo was actually quite good! I've learned this main riff as well but not whole song. I also use Marshall code 25 amplifier and Harley benton guitar. Hoppely guitar didn't break. How long you play on guitar?

Its literally impossible not to head bang at the beginning.
The whole song you mean
Andrew Cosley it’s one of the headbanging anthems, that and down with the sickness

why is it so surprising to see a black man that plays guitar
Lil Wayne as an example...so heavy
he plays black metal
