Korean school doesn't really help you with learning how to speak English. It's mostly just binge learning grammar and vocab for the exams. There are numerous videos where Korean highschool students or college students completely destroy a native English speaker in a grammar exam but then can't speak it at all when the native tries to start a conversation. Unfortunately that's how awful the korean school system is in that regard. I'm pretty sure Idols get language lessons during their training period but even with the lessons especially Jiyoon is really good for a Korean who hasn't studied abroad.

they're not all fully fluent, but they're fluent enough that they can communicate with international fans which is a big advantage for a freshly debuted rookie group :D
