Herbert Jansky: “Turkish language is an extremely rich and easy-to-understand, easy-to-learn scientific language in terms of vocabulary, phonetics, orthography, syntax and vocabulary.” page 257 in book (The Science of Language by Max Müller in 1861) It is a real pleasure to read a Turkish grammar, even though one may have no wish to acquire it practically. The ingenious manner in which the numerous grammatical forms are brought out, the regularity which pervades the system of declension and conjugation, the transparency and intelligibility of the whole structure, must strike all who have a sense of that wonderful power of the human mind which has displayed itself in language. Given so small a number of graphic and demonstrative roots as would hardly suffice to express the commonest wants of human beings, to produce an instrument that shall render the faintest shades of feeling and thought;-given a vague infinitive or a stern imperative, to derive from it such moods as an optative or subjunctive, and tenses as an aorist or paulo-post future;-given incoherent utterances, to arrange them into a system where all is uniform and regular, all combined and harmonious;-such is the work of the human mind which we see realized in “language.” But in most languages nothing of this early process remains visible. They stand before us like solid rocks, and the microscope of the philologist alone can reveal the remains of organic life with which they are built up. In the grammar of the Turkic languages, on the contrary, we have before us a language of perfectly transparent structure, and a grammar the inner workings of which we can study, as if watching the building of cells in a crystal bee-hive. An eminent orientalist remarked “we might imagine Turkish to be the result of the deliberations of some eminent society of learned men;” but no such society could have devised what the mind of man produced, left to itself in the steppes , and guided only by its innate laws, or by an instinctive power as wonderful as any within the realm of nature. page 260 there is one feature so peculiar to the Turkish verb, that no analogy can be found in any of the Aryan languages-the power of producing new verbal bases by the mere addition of certain letters, which give to every verb a negative, or causative, or reflexive, or reciprocal meaning - i also asked chatgpt about what linguists said answers of chat gpt David Cuthell is a linguist who has studied the Turkish language and its grammar. He has written several books on Turkish, including "A Reference Grammar of Turkish" and "Turkish: A Comprehensive Grammar". In his works, Cuthell has praised the logical and regular grammar of Turkish. He has noted that Turkish has a highly agglutinative morphology, meaning that words are formed by adding suffixes to a root, allowing for complex word constructions. He has also emphasized the role of word order in Turkish grammar, noting that the position of words in a sentence can indicate their grammatical function. Overall, Cuthell has regarded Turkish as a highly structured and well-organized language, with a logical and consistent grammar that reflects its historical development and cultural influences. - Max Müller, a renowned linguist and philologist, did not specifically focus on the Turkish language. However, he did make some observations about the wider Turkic language family. In his book "Lectures on the Science of Language" (1861), he noted that the Turkish language was highly agglutinative, meaning that words are formed by adding suffixes to roots or stems. He also commented on the beauty and poetic quality of Turkish, stating that "Turkish is one of the most beautiful languages in the world, and its poetry is unsurpassed for grace and melody." - Johan Vandewalle is a linguist who has written extensively on Turkish and other Turkic languages. In his works, he has praised the logical and flexible structure of Turkish grammar, as well as its ability to express complex meanings in a concise way. Overall, Vandewalle has a positive view of Turkish as a rich and fascinating language with a long and complex history. - Paul Roux was a linguist who studied Turkish language and its grammar. He emphasized the agglutinative nature of Turkish, which means that words are formed by adding affixes to a root word. He also noted that Turkish is a highly regular language, with a strict set of rules for word order and sentence structure. Additionally, Roux praised the clarity and simplicity of the Turkish language, stating that it is "one of the most logical and transparent languages in the world". - Jean Deny was a French linguist who was interested in the study of Turkic languages. He made significant contributions to the field of Turkish linguistics, particularly in the areas of phonetics and morphology. Deny was known for his detailed analysis of the Turkish language, and he recognized its unique and complex structure. In his work, Deny emphasized the logical and flexible nature of the Turkish language. He argued that the language was well-suited for expression of abstract concepts and logical reasoning. Deny also noted the importance of vowel harmony and agglutination in Turkish grammar, which he believed made the language particularly expressive and efficient

Given so small a number of graphic and demonstrative roots as would hardly suffice to express the commonest wants of human beings, to produce an instrument that shall render the faintest shades of feeling and thought;-given a vague infinitive or a stern imperative, to derive from it such moods as an optative or subjunctive, and tenses as an aorist or paulo-post future;-given incoherent utterances, to arrange them into a system where all is uniform and regular, all combined and harmonious;-such is the work of the human mind which we see realized in “language.”
But in most languages nothing of this early process remains visible. An eminent orientalist remarked “we might imagine Turkish to be the result of the deliberations of some eminent society of learned men;” but no such society could have devised what the mind of man produced, left to itself in the steppes , and guided only by its innate laws, or by an instinctive power as wonderful as any within the realm of nature.

there is one feature so peculiar to the Turkish verb, that no analogy can be found in any of the Aryan languages-the power of producing new verbal bases by the mere addition of certain letters, which give to every verb a negative, or causative, or reflexive, or reciprocal meaning

David Cuthell is a linguist who has studied the Turkish language and its grammar.

Max Müller, a renowned linguist and philologist, did not specifically focus on the Turkish language. However, he did make some observations about the wider Turkic language family. In his book "Lectures on the Science of Language" (1861), he noted that the Turkish language was highly agglutinative, meaning that words are formed by adding suffixes to roots or stems. He also commented on the beauty and poetic quality of Turkish, stating that "Turkish is one of the most beautiful languages in the world, and its poetry is unsurpassed for grace and melody."
-
Johan Vandewalle is a linguist who has written extensively on Turkish and other Turkic languages. In his works, he has praised the logical and flexible structure of Turkish grammar, as well as its ability to express complex meanings in a concise way. Overall, Vandewalle has a positive view of Turkish as a rich and fascinating language with a long and complex history.

Paul Roux was a linguist who studied Turkish language and its grammar.

Jean Deny was a French linguist who was interested in the study of Turkic languages.

Bunu bilmiyordum! Tavsiyelerin için de çok teşekkür ederim Fevzi! Onları yazdım, izleyeceğim! Dört gözle bekliyorum😊
