I am a huge fan of sullivan but whenever a young player comes in i instinctively start supporting them

Interesting fact: they said in the shootout mertens suffers from a tremor but he can steady himself on the delivery of the cue so it doesn't affect his play.

I’m sorry,but Ronnie was giving shots away.Like floating the brown over the bottom left pocket in the 4th frame,that was a gimme shot.Whenever he plays a younger player or amateur,he does this trying to build their confidence up.
I'm not familiar with Ben. I don't know if it's just me or Ben is shaking in the video. Is he too nervous?
Ben's always shaking his head whenever he's down for the shot, but I believe it's not his stress. Maybe it's just his medical state. Nice try for him to take on the Rocket.
guys everyone who thinks that ben is shaking so much because he is worried. This is not true.Saw how Ben made a 100 break at the European Championships and he was also shaking perveevod.I think it's a feature in the Mertens stance.
Mark Selby also does it a bit in his own way. And Higgins as well with his hand if I remember correctly
Looking at the comments, I don't think Ronnie dumped a few, too much respect for the game. I do think however that he tends to shoot down to his opponent's level at times, subconciously. I did the same.

I felt like Ronnie could have whitewashed if he really wanted to. He gave Mertens a lot of chances to loosen up to see his potential.
Yes. Another comment believes he misses intentionally, but I agree with you. I think he plays some shots without fully concentrating, to see what happens and maybe make things a little more interesting.

@@m1dxd901 I have noticed in a few matches against amateurs that Ronnie misses shot he ordinarily makes with his eyes closed.He doesn’t even put much effort into his shot making at times.✌️
I really appreciate him for doing this and i hope that all other players do the same

Ben pots very well, especially considering he was visibly shaking at times. Positional play needs some work, but has the talent to compete with the best as that aspect improves and as he becomes more comfortable with experience.
Mertens was shaking and looked very tense
He was shaking like a leaf. You can see his head shaking in the very first shot and then in the same frame when he had another chance his elbow was almost like an earthquake (03:54). Poor chap, I can imagine his plight...
Seemed to find himself in the 6th frame, though. The two frames that he had won from Ronnie obvs gave him confidence and quailing at playing the best in the world or not, he rose to the occasion.
After, Ronnie showed true sportsmanship when he shook his hand then stayed a few and obviously gave Ben credit and encouragement . Hopefully we'll be seeing a lot more of young Ben from Belgium.
I believe its a medical thing, like Selby.

Ben's potting was very good, but his safety was mostly awful. Not meant to be mean, but especially against Ronnie, that safety needs to be inch perfect, and the amount of times he left Ronnie wide out in the open was just excruciating to watch. (edit: Of course I type this before I see frame 5. Haha! Great play by Ben.)

Today all refs are too slow for Ronnie, they always stand behind the player and they have to make a long run to the pocket. Some years ago, they stood between the cueball and the pocket and so they respoted faster. Ronnie said that his fastest 147 record won't ever fall because of that
Unfortunately, you can see Ben shaking with nerves on every shot in the last frame.

I believe Ben was shaken in early frames as i did in my younger days to have to play against a very very good opponent but Ben has better nerves of steel than me 😂 I was shaken all the way and decided to safety play all the way to delay my opponent’s win 😆

Ronnie definitely was kinda rooting for the lad deep down. He almost looked a bit saddened on the missed brown about middle of the video, knowing it meant the round was his.

@@clintyuan2059 其實這樣正常的 因為打粉球白球分離角 一定碰撞到右邊的紅球 碰到紅球後白球必定在前移一些 紅球因為是兩顆組合球 你會認為它移動一點點 那是因為第二顆紅球承受全部撞擊力量 而第一顆已經消力 讓人錯覺它移動一點點

O'Sullivan is missing many, easy pocket shots on purpose and he tried to give the kid a chance to win the 3rd frame, but he loused it up with the blue ball. It's obvious what O'Sullivan was doing here, he allowed the kid to catch up in the frames and then finally thrash him in the final 7th frame (even the commentators are part of the pretence).
